The Renault Alpine at 30 seconds is beautiful!!! The Metro 6r4 and the Audi Quattro's just sound and look amazing. I wish rally cars and F1 cars today were as different as they were in the beginning!!! Great Video's aswell.
Dear All This is one of the best videoas I ve come across a real mixture of today's and former Rallye cars, including a lot of group B like the Renault 5 Turbo I ( a mid engined rearwheel drive turbocharged engine that needed the vents as air and colling intake)
the R5 GT Turbo was front engined, front wheel drive and was built on a standard R5 chassis where as the Gordini was specifically built for racing, wider wheel base for stability, mid engined for a better power to weight ratio
please note that the car shown at 3.05 is indeed a R5 TURBO This was specific designed and sold to the public first in a batch of 400 pcs called the R5 TURBO I as homologation base for Group B rallye cars. Later another 1.200 cars were produced called R5 TURBO II because of the great demand. But the cars were definitely called R5 TURBO without any mentioning of Gordini.
The logo could be seen on the doors similar to the Porsche Carrera
At the 3:48 mark, it sounds as if a Ferrari 512S is approaching the corner. Out pops a squat, red and white compact car. What the heck is it, and why does it sound like it has a Ferrari flat-12 under the hood?! Is it even Italian?
Mosponiac is my new hero!! the car at 1:14 is unless my eyes decieve me a Matra Simca Bagheera the Alpine is before it at 0:48. At 3:48 is a Metro 6R4 petrol head me? of course
Now I'm not too sure the rear wings must be group b add ons as neither the Bagheera nor the Alpine had brake vents I think the front lights make it an Alpine as the Bagheera had popups which ever it is still a beautiful piece of engineering
I think we have our wires crossed there is indeed a Gp B 5 Turbo but that is at 3:05
different to the road going 5 turbo hatchback in that it has the engine where the rear seats would be instead of the at front and as you say it does have brake vents in the extended arches. The car I was refering to is an Alpine 110 and later either a Baggy or Alpine 310
wow!!! when that stratos came through the hill and the noise out of it fuck its so nice!

Of course this isn't Group B rally, it's part of the Eifel Rallye 2007, but most of these are former Group B cars - and still alive! 8)
