WOW you people are crying about us trying to get back our land and water you already took our culture and way of life and thats not enough its never enough. white people are the greediest people on earth no joke the want every thing until its gone
why cant the fish be somehow transported above the dams........wouldnt that settle the whole entire problem? isnt it possible to channel around the dam or build a lock around it? i think the solution coulde be much simpler than all of this.
Read the Settlement Agreement. Nobody is taking water away from anybody. When conditions reach a point like happened in 2001, then in the Agreement, all parties involved will MEET AGAIN to FULLY DISCUSS what needs to happen to satisfy all parties involved? Measure the conditions for who benefits and who doesn't and then compromise! Maybe us Indians benefit, or maybe the farmers benefit. It all depends on mother nature and all of our ability to make everybody content to make it year by year.DUH
I attended a conference and a speaker was there about how the Sierra communities worked together to protect what is there, and to grown stronger as rural communities without overexploitations of natural resources. Bought the book in fact and am amazed! Sierra's is a great area to look to for examples of when things can go right! Especially when PLANNED right! Nice to hear outside of our lands that this isn't the only place that's controversial. But better that there's proven success there!!
Readers need to read the Negotiation Settlement that is available online. Turn to the Participants' page and all will see that Those ALL now against the agreement, were all seated during the entire negotiation. But since they don't get their individual say, they hold that over the votes of their relative constituents, and now are vocal against an agreement that has now drawn togetherness between our Indian Tribes and those we've been up against for the greater of our economic county good!
Roger Nicholson feels that his ultimate Governing body (U.S.A.) does not owe anybody anything via TREATY, or any other agreement. The Conqueror gets everything, even though we witness the emergence of EEO laws and anti-discrimination. Then Linda Long advocates against Indian Water Rights. She sells real estate based on presumed water rights gained for the buyer! Chiloquin/Lost River rivalry been awesome! Upper Lake Irrigators need to be regulated! That's their issue! They don't want measures!
We're constantly having that problem in the Los Angeles area.Developers are constantly building new neighbourhoods expecting the DWP and other government agencies to pick up the slack.Like there's a spigot on the side of the Sierras that they can open up wider. And more water will just magically appear.
gotta help the fish - extinction is forever.
