My 1st baby she was a rapid birth with ARM, cried a bit no suctioning, developed TTN
2nd, rapid birth, cord wrapped around neck twice, dad cut cord, no suctioning-healthy
3rd baby, rapid birth, cried a bit with 2 nostril flares guzzled down a bottle, moaned for 12 hours, which stopped with a pacifer, 3 temp drops But stil healthy, no neonatal care.
Baby's looking around at birth, taking in a new environment. She is a c-section baby and c-section babies tend to get TTN easily or babies born via rapid birth or births/tapid births with use of ARM/AROM. My Son was born with by rapid birth with the cord wrapped aroun his neck twice. He didn't look around much after birth, but he was just a passively content & healhy baby.
LABERDUDOLE,i dont think the nurses want him to cry because they feel sadistic or evil or anything, when they "shake" the baby, you notice they tap at his chest area. this is to dislodge any mucus/phlegm from sticking to baby's lungs, and they did sunctioning after. They want the baby to cry because they want him to gasp for air, so that his lungs would expend, if not, his lungs might collapse because no air inside. Thats why you always see docs purposely like tapping their buttocks and all that.
@LABERDUDOLE101 Well if she is left alone then she might to continue to cry worse, or somthing even worse will happen, unless you know why the baby is there you can't expect the nurses to stop caring for her just because she is crying!
@LABERDUDOLE101 They are doing that because they need her to cry...so they can suck up the mucus and do the rest of the testing etc...usually babies cry easily..that baby wasn't crying rarely so they needed to pat her to get her to cry..
@LABERDUDOLE101 lol u dont have kids do u??? Very normal procedure baby needs to be stimulated so her lungs will start to work....back in the old days they would smack the babys backside to shock them into crying!
wow- you actually dodged a SERIOUS bullet with your baby - meconium can do really really bad damage to a baby so very serious congratulations to you for not having that happen!!! That is wonderful - and she does look amazingly alert and pink for a newborn!! So congrats on your beautiful and healthy baby!
Sophia is gorgeous-Congratulations!
