@hansvaneven It's just no matter how much I'm practicing I'll never be good as people like him. My first comment comes from respect and appreciation...
@jorden123, you can achive what you want, just patience my friend, I've been playing for 28 years now, you already play very well, just time and practice, thanks for your comment! ;)
@hansvaneven Thanks a lot I'll remember that! and I supposed it is you at the video, really awesome mate! Luckily I learned music three years trend so it helps to analyze and understand music :)
Anyway have a nice day.. I hope I'll reach to your level someday!
@hansvaneven So yeah I apologize for the ignorant comments. Its just so easy to become overzealous behind a keyboard on YouTube you know? haha. You can sit here an watch countless videos of ridiculously talented players and start to think you know something. I've been playing since about thirteen, which is just over 11 years; so sitting here now, I feel very stupid after looking at my comments. You would think I'd know better haha. But anyway glad to see your a cool, humble guy. Best wishes fro
@hansvaneven Yea that makes sense definitely, in trying to get a certain effect or tone. And either way, nobody gets that good at eight finger techniques overnight so I'm positive that you have spent countless amounts of time doing it without a dampener as well. For me, doing it at all is insanely hard. Today I muted my neck with a sock (haha works pretty good if you tie it tight) to see the difference when trying this; needless to say it didn't help me, so yea this is awesome.
@BER2ERKER , thanks alot! Hey no problem, I do the tapping stuff without the damper when practising, but the daper adds some kind of a compressed sound to the whole things which isn't possible without it, so I like theresult of this combination. That said, Chris Broderick is an awesome player, like his stuff too :)
and plus this is like a full solo piece, which not that many people do well. it's one thing to do short 8 finger tapping but for that long it gets insane
no fight back with chris Broderick, he does 8 finger arpeggios; however I dont think he uses a string dampener/muter. also Michael Romeo does some insane tapping without one as well. this is seriously awesome, but to bring it to another level you have to get rid of the muter. half of the challenge at least is muting the strings.
hey hans, what technique do you use for tapping? like do you always keep your thumb locked or do you keep it floating? its just that i cant really tell and im starting to play like this, but i just dont get the right angle and stuff
Hi Jerry, it's hard to say, I tried different techniques, what now works best for me is to pull off the strings down, also I use a lot of vibrato left hand, so you block the right hand on a note, then use left hand fingers for the vibrato, which really make the strings sing, this is hard to do when doing pull offs upwards. Thumb is sometimes locked, but not always, just depends on what I need to play. I really think this is a mix of different playing styles which works for me ... cheers ;)
oh my good.....a fantastic solo...where feeling bluesy and modern approch are mixing with a great joyfull and happyness ! it s a great day for me for discover you!!
fabien courtois! the art of tapping is incredible!!
i love seeing how different everybody holds their picks. like this guy is really closed handed(note not a judgement just an outloud observation). have u checked out niels vidz? hes got a lil trick where he slides his pick up his hand wit his thumb so he has all 8 fingers available n then slides it back down when he needs it. cant hurt to have a look..
I sat in with Jennifer Batten a few times and she uses this string damper, which is made for her. It's made with piano felt, which works really well to dampen the strings. I think Michael Angelo uses her damper too.
