  • Excellent work man :). Inspirational :)

  • absolutely perfect, very impressive!!

  • son of a......

  • @jorden123 ..... ????

  • @hansvaneven It's just no matter how much I'm practicing I'll never be good as people like him. My first comment comes from respect and appreciation...

  • @jorden123, you can achive what you want, just patience my friend, I've been playing for 28 years now, you already play very well, just time and practice, thanks for your comment! ;)

  • @hansvaneven Thanks a lot I'll remember that! and I supposed it is you at the video, really awesome mate! Luckily I learned music three years trend so it helps to analyze and understand music :)

Anyway have a nice day.. I hope I'll reach to your level someday!

  • @jorden123 Son of Van Halen)

  • This is some of the most melodic 8-finger stuff I've ever heard

  • Ok, there are times when I see extremely good players like you and I just want to quit. FANTASTIC tapping! Much respect to you.

  • fix tab link

  • @Anarnt13 , sorry for that, my older domain name has been pirated, so now link has been fixed! cheers, Hans

  • @hansvaneven thanks

  • you are amazing, man!

  • This isnt Fusion...

  • is this Eddie Van Halen???

anyway Chris Broderick does the 8 finger tapping better than him. but they both kick ass

  • this isn't fusion

  • @djsewell , well it certainly isn't Country ;)

  • @hansvaneven haha yep

  • You look like Brett Garsed and play like his pal TJ Helmerich! lol

  • so freaking amazing

i wanna be playing just like this when i grow up

  • Im curious to know if youre familiar with Akira Takasaki, his tapping is on a way different level from Chris Broderick.

  • @hansvaneven So yeah I apologize for the ignorant comments. Its just so easy to become overzealous behind a keyboard on YouTube you know? haha. You can sit here an watch countless videos of ridiculously talented players and start to think you know something. I've been playing since about thirteen, which is just over 11 years; so sitting here now, I feel very stupid after looking at my comments. You would think I'd know better haha. But anyway glad to see your a cool, humble guy. Best wishes fro

  • @hansvaneven Yea that makes sense definitely, in trying to get a certain effect or tone. And either way, nobody gets that good at eight finger techniques overnight so I'm positive that you have spent countless amounts of time doing it without a dampener as well. For me, doing it at all is insanely hard. Today I muted my neck with a sock (haha works pretty good if you tie it tight) to see the difference when trying this; needless to say it didn't help me, so yea this is awesome.

  • Very tasty melodies and phrasing in Holdsworth & Watsonesque style guitar playing. Great job, congratulations.

  • Very tasty melodies and phrasing in Holdsworth & Watsonesque guitar playing. Great job, congratulations.

  • Amazing!

  • ok I just watched his other videos and this guy is retardedly good, so I take back any stupid comments I made

  • @BER2ERKER , thanks alot! Hey no problem, I do the tapping stuff without the damper when practising, but the daper adds some kind of a compressed sound to the whole things which isn't possible without it, so I like theresult of this combination. That said, Chris Broderick is an awesome player, like his stuff too :)

  • and plus this is like a full solo piece, which not that many people do well. it's one thing to do short 8 finger tapping but for that long it gets insane

  • don't want to come off douchie, this is insane of course and I would never even attempt it. awesome stuff

  • no fight back with chris Broderick, he does 8 finger arpeggios; however I dont think he uses a string dampener/muter. also Michael Romeo does some insane tapping without one as well. this is seriously awesome, but to bring it to another level you have to get rid of the muter. half of the challenge at least is muting the strings.

  • hey hans, what technique do you use for tapping? like do you always keep your thumb locked or do you keep it floating? its just that i cant really tell and im starting to play like this, but i just dont get the right angle and stuff

  • Hi Jerry, it's hard to say, I tried different techniques, what now works best for me is to pull off the strings down, also I use a lot of vibrato left hand, so you block the right hand on a note, then use left hand fingers for the vibrato, which really make the strings sing, this is hard to do when doing pull offs upwards. Thumb is sometimes locked, but not always, just depends on what I need to play. I really think this is a mix of different playing styles which works for me ... cheers ;)

  • what's wrong with the website Man? Very cool tapping btw... Great job

  • David Ellefson

  • @1kydde2 , LOOL :) didn't even notice that :)

  • This guy is serious competition.

recommendation , fight back with buckethead.

  • Oh god..I can see Doug Marks making another video soon...

  • Can somebody tell me what are the scales he's using to sound outside? Basically the whole backing track is D Dorian right?

  • what the hell..... that is crazy

  • that was awesome. great job

  • do u write any staff ? id like to hear something from you!!

  • Inspiring!

  • Whats that thing on top of your fretboard above the 2nd fret.

  • @TheHornet79 string muter. t cover either one half of the fret board or the other depending on the string count.

  • Great solo !! Thumbs Up

  • great playing hans :)

  • This one is Vai lookish, and Vai playish too... Rockish on!

  • @hansvaneven ...tsunami of notes :)

  • oh my good.....a fantastic solo...where feeling bluesy and modern approch are mixing with a great joyfull and happyness ! it s a great day for me for discover you!!

fabien courtois! the art of tapping is incredible!!

  • i love this!

  • i love seeing how different everybody holds their picks. like this guy is really closed handed(note not a judgement just an outloud observation). have u checked out niels vidz? hes got a lil trick where he slides his pick up his hand wit his thumb so he has all 8 fingers available n then slides it back down when he needs it. cant hurt to have a look..

  • devoto de tj helmerich

  • wow , haven't seen a N2/4/6 is a while , nice

  • Really crazy stuff nice work Hans, i love it!!!!, i invite you to my chanel, also do you have an email, thanx bro

  • I sat in with Jennifer Batten a few times and she uses this string damper, which is made for her. It's made with piano felt, which works really well to dampen the strings. I think Michael Angelo uses her damper too.

  • Great Tapping mate !! keep on rockin'

  • Hi Webdragon, no it's purely amp driven with a little but of delay, but that's it :) cheers ;)

  • Hi Hans :-)

one question: where can i buy a string muter like yours?

im currently working on 8 finger tapping stuff...but i use a sock for muting...and that looks kinda stupid :)

    greetings from germany

  • Hi Christoph, you should be able to buy it from allparts US or UK, it's called the Batten damper. Good luck ;) Cheers Hans

  • @MrChristophSchmidt you a hair tie its works good

  • I love how the begining finger tapping sounds so peacefull yet metal at the same time.

  • Wowowoow thats wiiiild!

  • YOU ARE A MONSTER!!!!

  • just awesome ;) 5*****

  • Wow! that was beautiful ...luv it...

  • Thanks Whoobie! ;)

  • The first part of the solo sounded like stuff Holdsworth does with one hand.

  • As a long time Allan Holdsworth fan I take that as a compliment, so thanks ;^) Allan is the best, period, he influenced me for sure :)

  • Good, because I was saying it as a compliment. If you can emulate Allan Holdsworth period your amazing at guitar.

  • Thanks for the kind words!

  • oh wait I see the tab links in the decription :) Bless you for writing all that out!

  • Thanks ;) I just did one minute of the solo, was way too many notes :) good luck with it!

  • haha well I'll be lucky to get through 1 minute of it. ; )

  • I went to the website, but how do I find the lesson? Is there a way to view in English?

  • Thanks guys ;)

  • Yeah!!!!!

  • awesome

  • I like that Helmerich kinda vibe, good stuff.

    merci

  • freain gnarly, post the tabs and a lesson :D

  • hey, thanks guys, I posted the link to the TAB under "more info", backing track will come soon! good luck ;)

  • Thx a lot for the tab Hans, you're a monster player, can't wait for the backing track!
