Yes, Ford was the first to re-produce their muscle car (the Mustang) similar to how it looked back in the 70's.
And while I do like how it looks and performs, it doesn't mean Ford owns the rights to re-introduce old school muscle and looks.
Regardless, there wasn't a production car (ie: one that "John Q. Public" could afford) offered in the 60's/70's that could match the Hemi. And I believe that Dodge won't hold any punches with their new Hemis.
i can't stand gm, there just a bunch of posers, the only reason they are coming out with the f'ing car is because they see that the ford mustang is having total success. same with the new dodge challenger. everything ford did, they are doing too. ford redisigned the 05 mustang and gave it retro styleing and now both are copying the idea. at least ford is actualy original and giving their muscle a glass panoramic roof. if they want to bring back a legend, bring back the ev1.
It's too bad the first challengers will all be auto's. the 2009 versions will have manual transmissions though. It's probally a good thing for me. I want the manual so i have more time to save up >.>
As MikeB1444 said, around 40k($40,095 US) for the Limited-Edition SRT8 with the mag-fucking-nificent 6.1 Liter HEMI coming out early next year(ordering is now available if you have the dough). Don't worry though, later next year they'll come out with a full production series with cheaper models, hopefully somewhere around $22-25,000 USD.
You're right. Chrysler Motors is taking deposits. In Hemi form the car is slated to be set at $38,000-$45,000 depending on the options. Of course the first run will likely exceed $50K due to demand. The non Hemi will be in the same price range as the non GT mustangs.

i wonder what the challenger would be like with a vinyl top and chrome trim. it needs something to make it look more seventies, than just the shape.

I don't know what all this non-Hemi talk is; the cheaper model that comes out later is supposed to have a 5.7L Hemi. Not a 4.7L Magnum...

Simply put, Mopar owned/owns the competition.
