I usually plant the seeds about an inch apart, but you can put them closer as you will probably have to thin them anyway, which is more important. Once the seeds have established themselves as plants I usually give them 3-4 inches from the next nearest carrot. Carrots are harvestable size after a couple of months, in the northeast we plant them in June and leave them in the ground until we need them or harvest them in late October and put them in wet dirt or wet sawdust in the cellar.
I bought purple dragon and atomic red carrots seeds a few months ago. Gotta get motivated to sow them now. How far apart did you sow each seed and how long did it take for these carrots to mature?
