Most of you who think any cut in Military spending is a bad thing also think that the free market should rule and capitalism should do its work without government interference. National Defense is one area we need government for we can't provide this service ourselves, this is a fact all can agree on whether they are liberal or conservative. For national defense to work a bit like the free market we have to cut spending on what doesn't work so more money can be spent on things that do.

He isn't cutting money for the Army. In fact he and Secretary Gates have budgeted for a whole new Army division and a new Marine Brigade. He cut an anti missile system that didn't work and he cut the F22 program from 200 planes to 180. He actually increased orders for F35 fighters.
The total defense budget under Obama/Gates is UP 1.4% from last year.
So, beware of videos that are posted by the Presidents political opposition.

and that 700 billion achieves more than just producing weapons. the weapons and defense products are actually a small part of the sum. it advances research and processes for all fields. for example, we wouldn't have plastic bags today or polyester in our clothing without military spending. those two simple items continously are applied to HUMAN AID and MEDICAL applications. that's just one example. your liberalism has clouded your mind to consider the entire picture. he should cut socialism.

You think he can't support the military while cutting their spending? There is so much money that goes into developing new ways to kill people by military contractors, over the paychecks sent to the young men who die every day in the corps. I'm not saying these contractors can't make defensive items for the troops, but maybe putting the budget towards defense would make for a better offense.
