lotsa big dogs in my girls neighborhood, im looking for something for her when she walks her dogs in case she runs into an angry german shephard again like today. Would anybody recomend this or a stun baton? I dont want anything that will do permanant damage to the animal, just something that will keep her and her dogs safe long enough to get away.

@stopglobalswarming its not aggressive dogs really, just so many dogs in her area, and sometimes they get out, then they are scared, its all new to them, fight or flight kicks in and some will fight if they feel threatened. Its mostly families there its a farm town, last thing i wanna do is ruin some kids birthday or christmas or anything by killing their dog just cause it was scared. If i was with her i would physically scare or harm it...or try, but by herself i dont want her to panic and kill
@wtfmanicanthaveaname also i went ahead and got a lower voltage stun baton for her, it has plates running down the top 6 inches if the sides of it as well incase the dog tries to bite it, it will still stun. The cops use 6 million volts, this one is only 500k volts, i used it on myself and it hurts like hell but i cant see it doing any kind of long term damage or even knocking a well sized dog out, but will make him think twice about trying again.
Something like this would be good to permanently keep in the car for "just in case" situations. It's a little big to be be keeping in a pocket unless you're expecting trouble and you can't have a gun.

With a 2 oz can you will have more reach than would would with just a small key chain size 0.5 oz.That's more than enough as in a defensive situation you will use your spray at very close range anyway.
For the price of that gun you can get a couple of cans of spray, use one to practice on a target and you will be good to go.

good review, but im going to disagree with some points. I am a security officer, and i carry this unit all the time, i find it to be an excellent platform for the money, i got mine on ebay for less than $50. as for the LED, I have actually used the light as a flashlight, and at night, the Led does blind temporarily. since it is shaped like a gun, at night, an attacker may be fooled into thinking that it is, and this may be enough to make someone think twice. you get up to 7 bursts.
I like the Kimber Jet product a little better for what it is. This one seems to me more like a souped up water gun, not saying that it wouldn't work well in an encounter. For the 80-100 clams I'd spend I could buy alot of mark IV canisters, which I know from experience give you many uses per unit, and have about the same range. One day they'll perfect the cost effective automatic peper delivery device, we're actually almost there.

With a 2 oz can you will have more reach than would would with just a small key chain size 0.5 oz.That's more than enough as in a defensive situation you will use your spray at very close range anyway.
For the price of that gun you can get a couple of cans of spray, use one to practice on a target and you will be good to go.

the problem with this product is that if you decide to employ it, your target will likely believe you are brandishing a firearm. i personally believe it will be much safer to carry something that can protect you and at the same time not cause someone to immediately pull HIS firearm and defend his life.

The only time you need to be pointing something shaped like a gun is when it's actually a gun. The other person with the real gun is going to respond in the midst of...not dying. Mace should look like mace or someone will see your "gun" and escalate the situation to deadly force. You better carry a real gun to back up the one that is shaped like a gun. People get shot holding black squirt guns all the time and those are alot less annoying.

good review, but im going to disagree with some points. I am a security officer, and i carry this unit all the time, i find it to be an excellent platform for the money, i got mine on ebay for less than $50. as for the LED, I have actually used the light as a flashlight, and at night, the Led does blind temporarily. since it is shaped like a gun, at night, an attacker may be fooled into thinking that it is, and this may be enough to make someone think twice. you get up to 7 bursts.

I like the Kimber Jet product a little better for what it is. This one seems to me more like a souped up water gun, not saying that it wouldn't work well in an encounter. For the 80-100 clams I'd spend I could buy alot of mark IV canisters, which I know from experience give you many uses per unit, and have about the same range. One day they'll perfect the cost effective automatic peper delivery device, we're actually almost there.
