dang! the way models acted back then is 120% different than the way they act now! like, most models now are emotionless on the runway. these ones actually bother smiling! what happened.....
Dalma was one of the best runway girls, she really bought elegance and class to anything she was given to wear. Mounia, Diane Dewitt and Iman were incredible-I miss seeing those models. Few girls these days can walk like that, maybe Shalom Harlow.
I think models during the 50's to the 80's were somewhat refined in their movements and gestures. They did not create any unnecessary "whatever" to get media attention. Their mission back then was to sell the clothes first, and if it worked, then they did a good job. And if they did a good job, then they get credits and more shows and more bookings. Only a rare few got away with their "unusual if not amusing ways on the runway" like Pat cleveland.
As much as I'm sick and tired and hateful of the '80s, these '80s designs by Oscar de la Renta are lovely. I also noticed Fashion Television was on here. They've been on TV for quite a while! And it's a great show. Still is. He's putting forth great style even today.
