  • Sometimes I wonder how much gameplay we could have if we were willing to sacrifice the polygon count.

  • what's the PSX...the same as PS1?

  • @GhettoKarter1992 No. The PSX is a Multimedia Device launched in Japan. It was the first device featuring the XMB interface and it could play PS1 and PS2 games. It had a hard disc, which apparently made it function as a DVR device.

However, PSX also meant Play Station eXperimental, the protoype name for the PS1 just after the Sony-Nintendo SNES CD project was dissolved.

  • reminds me of forza 4......

  • I think i actually prefer then handling on this to GT3/4

  • I miss that game

  • ..Who added Einhander music to this..? Jeez. Wicked shit. Great showing off of PS2 right here. Gorgeus upload.

  • they should have went on making gt series like fifa or pes, gt 2000, gt 2001, etc

  • and your definition of a new generation is wrong by the way. dreamcast and ps2 are both considered same generation despite ps2 having more power. dreamcast is considered a 6th gen console due to the graphical leap over the 5th gen consoles like the n64, ps1 and sega saturn.

furthermore, I just say that these graphics look better than ps1 and n64 graphics, which I believe I can say, no?

  • you're missing the point here. you can compare all consoles that are on the market at the same time. if dreamcast was a "6th gen" console that doesn't mean anything. it was still going up against ps1 and n64 for market share (and later the ps2).

  • quite easy actually. in 1999, sony and nintendo still had ps1 and n64 and even when the ps2 came out those older consoles were still sold. it's called competition, even if some people want you to think different.

for example the sega dreamcast came in 1999 and was competing with ps1 and n64, despite being a "next-gen" console.

  • Great Song!!!

  • GT3 + GT2 = GT 2000 :)

  • I would prefer GT2000 with GT2.5 graphics, there would be a lot more stuff and features.

  • I Played it :) And it Really Comes Close to GT3 - But the Fact is - that they were on the Very First Beginning to Experience the Potencial of the PS2 - Just take a Look at Gran Turismo 4 - Still Today its a Nice Graphic !

  • @tuneceevideo you LIKE BLOWJOB?

  • It looks like gran turismo 2! But this is probably the alpha version of Gran Turismo 3!

  • doesn't anyone have the entire PS2 presentation with all the games to reupload on youtube at a higher quality image, I have the entire E3 2005 on DVD but man its hard to find this stuff

  • wow

  • good times

  • I didn't now this even existed at all :o

  • Song is: Einhander Soundtrack - Badlands

  • The graphic of GT3 is 10 time better of this Sheet.....

  • handling too... and GT2000 is using PS1 engine. what a Sheet!

  • I love old graphic x) i ever woud know how can be GT2 or GT1 with better machine ^^"

  • same me for MGS1

  • It really just looks like GT2, it's nothing like the GT3 we eventually got. It has the graphics of GT2, glossy to hide the faults of the PSX, and it has the physics of GT2, where cars will freely slide.

It's nothing like the realistic looking, hard-to-drift GT3 we got eventually. :D

  • This looks GT2, because in 1999-2000 couldn't do higher technology and PS1 didn't support higher graphics. (PS2 was released in 2001, so did GT3)

This is how do I see this thing.

(Sorry my English, it could be pretty bad.)

  • The PS2 was first released in 2000.

  • I think the reason of the tech demo was to show that it could look as good as the pre-rendered intro, cause it looks just like it.

  • No the intro was not pre-rendered. It was just running on a computer with a much higher resolution.

  • No, I meant that it was made to show ps2 can do the CG prerendered ps1 stuff in true 3D.

The point was that after this, they updated it even further, into GT3.

  • No what i'm saying is the GT2 intro wasn't CG. It was the GT2 engine being run on an insanely powerful PC (for the time).

  • @RunLikeHellIV YOU LIKE BLOWJOB?

  • @RunLikeHellIV I wouldn't say it looks like GT2. GT2 was horribly pixelated since it ran at a res of 320x240 pixels, and pretty much all TVs back then had a native 480i res (640zx480). This looks like they took some cars and a track from GT2 and just upscaled it to the PS2's native res of 640x480.

  • but it still looks great compared to n64 and ps1

  • @RunLikeHellIV uhh, gt 3 isn't hard to drift...

  • is that tokyo xtreme racer music?

  • i believe it's from Einhander

  • nope that is Tokyo Xtreme Racer music lol

  • ya it is Tokyo Xtreme Racer music

  • Nope. It's from Einhander.

  • newly released skyline r34 in 1999

  • 1999 to correct you not 2000 the ps2 was released in 1999

  • According to Wikipedia, the PS2 was released in March 2000 in Japan and late 2000 in the US.

  • this is tokio race ¬¬

  • See? the cars can almost flip... :(

  • in fact, this is the GT2 PSX version with Ps2 modulations.

    GT3 is far away better.

  • well it's their tech demo... it's their BETA Engine of GT3

    in this case...

PS2 emulation is not correct at all to view a hi-res PS1 game at that time...

    well now it's getting better...

  • Cars are very glossly shiny.

  • those....were....pretty....goood...graphics

  • Dang, I used to think it looked so good! But now forza 2, and GT prologue totally dwarf it.

  • monokoma thanks for the video!

  • it's amazing how much improvement was done to the game in two following years. (afaik gt3 was released in 2001, or am i wrong here?).

  • "Like holycrapwow graphics for 1999 .___."

I second that notion. It was the new millennium and the details on the cars aren't to shabby either. Though still looks like a PS1 game to me. :P

  • Does any body know about the very first PS2 system BACK IN 98/99 THAN THEY RECALL ALL OF THEM AS DEFECT THEN RELEASE IT IN 2000 JP AND 2001 US some body out there had to remember I'm shore this gt game was to be on that early ps2 system well forgotten THAW

free stuff no CC 100% hit me up

  • where did you get that info? tell me please.

  • its so OLD!! lol

  • Like holycrapwow graphics for 1999 .___.

  • Nice....!!!!
