Loving these English cockers, working or show, there's a place for both.
The wolf was the original and origin of the dog so every dog has come a long way, If I want to see a wolf I'll go to the zoo, not crufts or the local park.
They are cockers, why call them English cockers? Oh yes I forgot, because americans want their own pug faced variety and want to take over the name. Like them calling the beautiful game 'soccer'... it's football to the rest of the world! Lovely dogs though, thanks for posting.
Well, I'm an American but I do agree with you. Americans have destroyed every breed that they have touched. Cockers and springers are lovely dogs but these dogs are no more cockers than twinkies are food. It would be funny if it werent so sad what American dog shows like this have done to the breed.
Hi; This is not 100% true. I agree in relation to type and structure. Americans have "deformed" many breeds, but on the other hand they are more health conscience than most of the world. In relation to the cocker spaniel: PRA , hips scores and kidneys tests are more widely done than in Europe and S. America.
What concerns me is the direction away from the origins of the breed (INCLUDING temperament). The cockers in this video are a pathetic, inferior substitute for real working cockers, both physically and temperamentally. But its not just with spaniels, any working breed recognized by the AKC. Dog shows DESTROY breeds because the wrong traits are sought. It broke my heart when I saw the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever AKA recognized. Its the beginning of the end for another great breed.
