It is commonly used to describe the rising fortunes of many blacks in recent years (much of it at the expense of whites, but let's not get in to that here). Coloured is also not an offensive term in SA, it is a perfectly acceptable term used to describe a segment of the population.

Very well executed, but way too much vibrato for my liking. Her last phrase without the vibrato was beautiful. It would have been far nicer without the huge wobble. Phrasing and intonation though very good. A little timid at the beginning, but as she got into it her voice settled down and it was a nice performance. But way too much vibrato for that piece.

She is possibly the best trained voice on the continent, and her vibrato is what it is. If you could sing at all, you would know to criticize this performance is ridiculous. @55DepotStreet I was expressing my opinion. You don't have to agree but to write and say "shut up" just shows your level of ignorance. I've been singing for 57 years trained in England, am a voice coach, choir director and organist. My preference is "straight tone" with "colour." She has a beautiful voice but for this particular piece, my preference would have been less vibrato. I am just offering my opinion. But don't be rude and tell me, or anyone else to "go away and shut up."

@mjd1949 She is full soprano, but I prefer light soprano for this song. Like Mirusia. She is the best live performer for yhat song IMHO. Thecnic of Mirusia is better, and she have better tempo.

@Santor6 Thanks Santor. You've hit the nail on the head! Mirusia has a much lighter sound and her voice is beautiful. The vibrato that Mirusia adds doesn't detract from the overall sound. She has some exquisite interpretation. For my taste, Mirusia wins 'hands down!' But that's not to say Maravilhosa doesn't have a lovely voice...just not my preference for this particular piece. Though remember they are from Holland, not the USA... Hollanders are much more accepting of diversity in races and religious beliefs than USA.

In their defense, Kimi Skota is a beautiful woman with an incredible blessed voice... she shared her gift and it's truly appreciated by the audience.
