Nice. I wish the west coast had a native firefly that glows on the wing. We have "glow worms" that are larviform adult females -- fun to see but we have to look real hard to find 'em.
@HumboldtMike I agree, Mike! I enjoyed fiddlin' with fireflies when I lived further south (in Kentucky and Iowa). We mostly see the genus Ellychnia (the day-active, nonluminescent beetles) in our area, although the genus Pyractomena (the night-active, luminescent beetles) casn occur where prairie and forests meet or where there is sufficient riparian habitat near lakes (in Minnesota mostly). Very cool beetles! ;-)
