I was a runnaway and lived with the Elevators in the 60s.They were like big brothers to me never taking advantage of me Teaching me and forming my psyche that to this day can capture the very essence of the unseen soul that occupies our body.Their music and their energy will always be and even now progresses.. it is unbelievableand the loss of this gentle genius is still devestating
I think the power in the group when they were playing is something that many of us have experienced when listening to the Elevators, I would say. I've thought for a long time that the group seemed to "channel" (in New Age parlance) the energy/information that stems from the psychedelic experience. It is why they are "post-legendary, almost mystical". It is good that they did this all for us. It's like a HIgh Mass for Psychedelia, more "God" talking to us than a rock band.
This guys Guitar playing Blows me AWAY!!! Love the use of Echoplex on Bull Of The Woods!! LOVE the Elevators 3LPS so much!! Stacy is right up there with the BEST Psychedelic guitar players in History!! Just a brilliant guitar player Psychedelic or not!! What a sad end for a talented Guy & so Young as well!!
Amazing recollection! Is there anymore of this interview to heard? I'll take anything from Stacy at this point, even if he was describing sitting on the toilet. He's a true Rock And Roll hero and the world should hear what it took to really make that music so amazing!
@johnfright wow, you have an hour and an half interview? Killer... I would love to hear the whole thing if you would ever be so kind to release in it's entirety. Looking forward to the next video!!
I'd never heard this interview , on audio . I have an article with a transcription of it , but , the souce was anonymous. This is a fascinating , though terrifying , account. Sutherland also said the cops took him to the edge of town , and literally said they were going to kill him , but he believed they did that to shake him out of the state that he was in....Great idea . His third vision probably WAS of dying horribly , but , it's understandable that he did'nt wish to elaborate.
"awe" that's all I have to say

"The third one hasn't come true yet, and I hope it doesn't." Wonder if it involved his early death?
"Bull of the Woods" is a true lost masterpiece. Stacy's work on that album has made him immortal. You are remembered fondly, my friend.

@prospectus91 Yeah Bull of the Woods is actually my favorite of their albums. Stacy's words and guitar were very haunting.

Considering how he died, it's clear what third event was. That's crazy.
