  • Why would someone pick a downhill spot to study elite runners form

  • This video may not be a good indicator but Ryan Hall does jump-run. And, his landing is about 18 inches in front of where it could/should be (under the body, not in front). He is one of the worst overstriders of all the elites but adjusts to land on his midfoot, not the heels. There are other videos with analysis of Hall's and other elites' running and he does not compare well, unfortunately. That' my opinion. Having said all that, Go HALL!

  • @maratz2 To run that fast you have to land in front so that you have time to compress into the ground and toe off. Haile Gebreselassie does the same thing. The pose method has some good advice, but some of it is unproven. A lot of people who use the pose method under stride. You can hear their shoes scrape the ground on every stride. like they are sticking their toes in the pavement. Check out Haile in slow motion.

  • type "1", "7", "1", "7".. and watch the crowd

  • This is great. Thank you. I was there last year, too and I was able to get a dew pictures of him barreling up heartbreak hill.

  • he doesn't jump run --> this is downhill dumbasses

  • Jump Runs? Watch his head relative to the fence. It might be very low and long bound. It might be 10"

  • everytime i get an email from runners world or active.com promoting the 'heel to toe' landing i send them a reply with this link. ive been running barefoot (or w vibrams) on 50% of my runs and using a midfoot strike for 9 months...ive been injury free for 9 months. also continue to get stronger and faster. Ryan is an inspiration. great video.

  • I totally agree. Excellent video! Amongst the best on the subject. There's absolutely nothing this guy does wrong. No wonder he's able to compete with the African runners who learned to run like this from their childhood. This shows fellow Europeans: there's nothing magical about the African runners: just forget about all the shoe manufacturers and the old-school heel-stride nonsense. When you want to run fast, start by learning the correct technique by looking at these guys.

  • Ryan jump runs....which increases longer air time, thus reduce his overall time.

  • GREAT VIDEO AND FORM

  • Nice video. This shows his great form after 15+ miles. I am amazed at the length of stride. He consumes a lot of ground with that stride.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • Awesome shot!
