I went to a concert of him yesterday, he was amazing! He played Barber's 2nd Sonata, Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata & 14th Sonata, Chopin's Nocturne 32 no 2 in Ab & Chopin's 3rd sonata and three encores (including a Prokofiev-piece)! I also got his autograph haha, the best night of my life pretty much haha =D
Difficult is subjective to different piano players but this is definitely in the top 5 hardest classical pieces. Its one of the most recognizable concert pieces out there, as in, if you could play without mistakes, all piano players would have some respect for you
@lemongamer99 In classical performance art, fatique is just an important factor as technical ability. The ability to maintain concentration and artistic dedication is vital to the concert stage. Some might say the Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No. 3 is the most difficult pianist piece ever. However, Kissin managed to complete it with absolute excellence. Matter being, Kissin has proved his virtuosity on every level
I think that Yundi Lee is a great performer, but the definition that Kissin puts into his notes is incredible. You can hear every single note distinctly.
Just because you have an Afro fetish doesn't mean anything. Nothing can compare to Yundi Li's control of the flow of the music. Kissins expression has nothing on Yundis.
Kissin undoubtedly has great ability. But just because he can play fast doesn't mean he is a great pianist. I kept looking for the metronome by the piano set at blizzard! His lack of sustaining pedal in areas and overuse of staccato, especially in the first half of the piece made me think of an old player piano. His performance is autonomic with the bobbing head keeping time with the furious pace.
For a contrasting performance with true emotional feeling, see Daniil Trifonov
4 years ago, this video was the most viewed "La Campanella" on Youtube. (more than Yundi's version, at that time) When you search "la campanella" this was in the top of the first page.
When this video reached about 1,000,000 views (while Yundi Li reached about 7-800,000) The video has been deleted.
It take years to appear in the front page again.
That is the reason why this video has only 100,000 views.
Fantastic. It has only 845 views because people are not aware of this video. But once they hear it, they will keep listening to it over and over again. Fantastic is the word to describe Evgeny Kissin's playing.
@OutdatedChanel Because copyright nazis keep taking it down. The last one I had in my favorites hit ~600,000 views. Thank you for posting this knightLynderic. NO ONE plays this like Kissin!
