LMAO NOVICE!!!!! when you are facing your "back toward" the direction you are going then there for you are going "BACWARDS" BWAHAHAHAHA!!! Mr. eli master baiter... hahaha
Ive been Paddling outrigger for over 15 yrs. so hardley a "novice" our shortest distance race is 12 miles & some are up to 41 miles IM POSITIVE YOU WOULDENT B ABLE TO HANG WITH US!!!!
uhhh how far do u rowers go like uhhh a mile or 2 in flat water hahahaha
Its amazing how the cox is just kinda looking to his right, looking to his left, ignoring his coach thats bleeding his throat dry for him and after the crash he's not too worried just looks back like they barely even scratched the pole...
You have a good point, he should have used a clearer command, especially after there was no initial response. However, only Americans say 'weigh enough'. The rest of the world uses 'let it run' for a regular stop and 'hold water' for an emergency stop.
Who cares about the people in the boat. I feel sorry for all the poor Indians that drowned trying to put up that totem pole in the middle of the lake.

uhm.... i just recieved the news that im the coxie for my team... so i searched "rowing coxie" and this video shows up... not a great motivator... just saying...
It's impossible to see anything directly infront of the boat from a stern loader. Launch should have pulled up closer or infront of the boat. Coxswains faulted for not knowing the course but not for not seeing it.
The counselor on a deaf community Deafornot dot c om said that "People who may be defined as clinically deaf (unable to hear spoken language) may or may not be members of the Deaf community."
yea the cox is dumb, but it probably would hav been smarter for the guy to say weigh enough instead of stop rowing, at least thats a universal command
I've only ever heard 'way enough' in the US and it's not a universal command. It's 'way' not 'weigh' as it describes giving way or space not weight. Everywhere else, in order of severity, 'let it run' 'stop rowing' or 'hold water' would have been suitable commands.
lol, thats kinda sad for the cox, but well he should have stopped :) Take a look at my rowing promos and leave a comment to tell me what you think! (in my channel)
I've found I either love my coxswain, or hate them. A coxswain needs to understand that I am pulling my heart out for them. I pull hard because they tell me to. When I'm in that boat, I feel like I would literally follow them off the face of the earth. It's a tremendously powerful position to be in. I like coxswains that understand this and constantly think about what WE are feeling. I don't like the ones that complain, or act separate from us or somehow FORGET to say 'good job" afterwords.
Well don't blame the stroke. He's in he's own world at that time. I have been in in simmilar situations, where another boat didn't hold it's lane - you don't stop or budge, then you loose. Hopefully noone gets an oar blade in the chest. But the cox should have stopped this boat. But hey - the rowing in this boat was so bad, that it was probabley being pulled to port anyway.
@henrydamaster This is not to get down on your rowing skills But, dude, get real. Rowing is difficult. Takes years of practise. I know, been on the danish national team. If you want to go world class, do 6-8 passes now (age 12-13), 8-10 in a year 12+ passes in about 3 years from now, each week, every week of the year + testing and training camps. If you can do that, you are on your way. Don't forget to enter as many races as possible, experience counts. Go for it, you'll never regret it.
It's fair enough to blame the cox for this, but I do wonder what planet the guy in the stroke seat was on - I'd imagine the guy in the launch was gesticulating pretty wildly by the time they actually crashed. Muppets :-)
In Defence of the Poor Cox who probably never went out on a boat again... The pole they crashed into was probably left of the all the crews heads, which made it impossible to see... and the background noise was quite loud... I guess it pays to pop your head out once in a while...

It's partially the coach's fault... I mean, "stop rowing" sounds an awful lot like "keep going". Why didn't he just say weigh enough?!
