  • I've done my share of unlicensed work over the past 20 years. I don't have a contractor's license but I made damned sure my work was up to code and beyond. You can never be too careful. All four systems have been trouble-free because I took care of all the details as well as big things.

  • You can't but a condensing flu into a METAL flu..I wonder where the water goes? I see ignorant things like this all the time.. Not to mention everything else you had on here..You should post the company name to go with it, maybe some inspections/exposure could stop some of this!

  • @TheDal789 I refuse to post the company name. The company is all but out of business. It's a moot point. Doesn't matter anymore. I fixed the problem before an inspector saw it. Why should I waste time kicking a dead dog? Time to move on.

  • LMAO! WTF?!

Installer says, "Who needs these installation instructions?!"

  • @DieselBenz Yup. Installers are paid to install. No one blames them for not thinking. I'm stuck fixing the screw-ups. Luckily for me... I installed equipment for 20 years. I have MAD installations skills, as you can see. Roofing, plumbing... I can do it all. My fellow techs hated it when I left the retrofit department. Their workload for add-on service quadrupled. Yeah... I'm a really good installer and service tech!

  • iv got that same amana furnace. mines a 95% the pvc runs right through the wall like it should.. i wanna run a fireplace in my basement and since the only thing in the chimne is the hot water tank. why not!!!!LOL but my hot water heater is just a exaust.

the new fireplace would most likely be a direct vent because its hard to find natural vent gas.

  • what area are you from.I noticed in your videos the exhaust on the furnaces are PVC.

  • @MrTERRYD55 I'm in Southern California, but that's not the most important issue. B-vent is used for 80% efficiency furnaces. The 90%'ers are vented with Schedule40 PVC.

  • @MrTERRYD55

PVC is the correct material for a flue pipe on a 90% efficient (or greater) gas furnace!

  • Dude, louder AND longer...i'm in HVAC school, my teacher loves your videos and we've been watching them in class

  • @Houze968 Wow. My videos as a teaching aid? Tell your teacher I said thank you. Thank you very much. I hope you guys are watching the other techs that post on YouTube, too.

  • dude, i love your videos...some seem like they don't have much in the volume department though :(

  • @Houze968 Should I pump up the volume? Do you want'em louder or longer?

  • Fail venting.

  • @mazzmari That's the understatement of the year.

  • are these videos for your employer? videos are a good way to back up what you do. customers can really slander your name to your company if they don't like you.

  • @SteezyProductionInc My videos are a mix of calls and installations. I usually don't specifically incriminate (or praise) anyone. I work for a great company. Most of the guys do fantastic work. Most work by other companies is just as good. But who wants to see endless videos of perfect work? Everyone wants to see the train wrecks!

  • I know it had to exist and you found it ,I love the silver tape it add a little finishing touch!!!!!

  • @dizziedallas Yup. Like a cherry on top of a banana split.

  • Is that a D.I.Y. ?

If not Some Journeyman,s cards need to be JERKED !!! Where the fuk is Code Enforcement ? Here we definetly have to show TERMINATION , or you are given a brief amount of time to fix, or fines will start mounting 1500.00 a day !!!

    Glued and Screwed ...LOL

    More like SCREWED!!! LOL

Are people truly that lazy ,they can't cut in a freakin flashing ?

Thanks for the enlightenment 5tank !!!

  • @fritzhvac Employee of a licensed contractor scooted out that turd. I didn't ask if the installation had been inspected. My guess is a big fat NO!!! The installer should be ashamed of himself. I'll be fixing this installation. Hang for it....

  • @PutSome5tankOnIt Rock On brother, do what you do best !!! Fix the CRAP, that anybody with a conscious would have done right to start with !!! Plop Plop Peew... LOL

Well there in good hands now !!! Looking forward to rehab video ... SHAME SHAME SHAME ... Your killing me, cherry on top of a banana split !!! ROFL...

  • dam thats nasty.

  • Holy carp...

  • crap*

I probably wouldn't even take that cap off, on account of getting a good seal. Maybe a 2" holesaw through the very top and gooseneck it from there. The water heater still poses a problem. Might has well drill a new hole entirely and use a pitch pocket, OR.. 90º in the atticc and head towards the gable end!

  • @MagicPatrick1 I'll have to take the cap off to remove the PVC. No big deal. It's AmeriVent. The new vent penetration will be coming up through the roof. I got the tools and the talent to make it happen!

  • I assume that water heater is natural draft too, so that furnace blows some of its combustion products right into the house. And furthermore, I bet that flue vent is disintegrating from the inside from all the condensate. I'm just an HVAC design engineer and my god that makes me want to hug my copy of the International Mechanical Code all night to keep monsters like that away. Too dramatic?

  • @eggman9713 Naturally drafted (with a standing pilot) water heater, yes. Flue temps high enough to melt PVC. B-vent not likely to disintegrate very quickly. Aluminum inner wall and galvanized steel outer wall. I lusted for solace from ANY code book to alay the demons and ban them from my sleep. Not dramatic. More like poetic. A dramatic scene would involve me beating the installer like a bad dog. Shame on him for doing such poor work.

  • WOW....

That is something, I never seen before. Good Catch on that

    Keep up the Good Work

  • @FireConvoy88 Very few installers dare to hack up a job like that. Most of those hacks have no idea that they're doing anything wrong. No one is teaching them the basics and they don't read installation instructions. Cheap labor = cheap results. You get what you pay for. No one has to thank me for the videos that I post. It's a truly free public service that I provide. I'm proud to say that your tax dollars are not making me rich.
