  • What octane were you running on the baseline dyno pulls? Its nice to see the new motor is underrated.

  • @wolfwood390 Oregon 92 Octane 10% ethanol (from the pump)

  • So I emailed APR today and they said that their dyno hp results are at the crank....and they say that stock hp is 216, so about 180ish at the wheels. Why are you all getting an extra 22 at the wheels?

  • @dstackmasta27 I'd guess you didn't talk to the right people at APR because all of the TSI stuff is underrated, 2.0L TSI, 3.0L TSI all put down more power than VW/Audi is claiming, check the forums.

  • @FutrellAutowerks Ok, so the stage III puts down more than about 291 at the wheels? Sorry to seem dense, the email from APR just confused me since all the dyno charts online have it around 330.

Here's the body of the email I received:

    Hi Dustin,

These figures are at the crank for all dynos except the B8 S4.

Please let me know if you have additional questions and I will be happy

    to help.

    Thanks!

    Rebecca

  • @dstackmasta27 We're getting 340WHP on the current stage III file. Only the baseline number is changed in comparisons, from our other dyno testing:

As we tested the stock number we say were what VW is claming is stock crank horsepower, the software builds its power beyond that, because Audi/VW have taken to underating the crank horsepower the overall numbers aren't as high from the gains.

  • did you do that with a stock ecu or did you use a upgrade and just tuned it?

  • @eazyeb Car was bone stock right from the dealership

  • @FutrellAutowerks thats some really good work. much respect!

  • Woot for PSI

    Good company!

I like the exterior of the MK VI over MK V

  • i have a question.. whats the difference between BHP and WHP??

  • @hozihu Thats a good question; BHP refers to crank horsepower, WHP refers to wheel horsepower. Generally you have a 15% loss from the crank to the wheels on a 2WD drive car, slightly higher on a 4WD. Its important to know what horsepower number people are throwing out when they make a claim.

  • @FutrellAutowerks very well said

  • 202 whp!? MORE than the advrtised hp...??

  • @CoonBabble Thats correct, and we've found this to be true for all the 2010s we've dyno'd which is accurate enough to hit the exact horsepower APR claims for there Stage 1-3 upgrades as well (see other videos)

  • god i love the sound of that car

  • awesome engine omg !

  • I just purchased a 2010 GTI Jan 13. These numbers are before mods at the wheels? That is impressive!

  • Yes that was totally stock with 70 miles on it, the Stage III results are at 315 WHP-330WHP.

  • It feels like more than 200 given the weight - nice to know I wasn't dreaming. I've got to think a simple chip getting a reliable 250 would be pretty straightforward.

  • si dont have 200whp like the GTI. Good to know that crank HP is somewhere around 230hp!!

  • so it has the same HP as a civic si but like 200 lb-ft torque. niice.

  • That's WHP

  • which is what really counts.

  • Civic Si is like 175ish WHP... Big difference.

  • yeah but its also 200 lbs heavier...

  • @JLCVDUB si's carring 195whp..i took a look at it but couldnt buy that over a vdub =P

  • holy engine movement!

  • What kind of dyno was that on?

  • Dynojet 424 XLC2

  • I wonder what the DSG tranny would pull

  • Probably within 2 HP of the same numbers as the manual.
