Poor Avi,his dad didn't give a damn about the million of Africans that died from AIDS until the middle class white gays in N.A. started to die. The daddy was outraged but only went globe trotting to Africa to feel their pain and then write a book or go on the CBC to inform us on what we knew years before he knew about AIDS. This guy has a dual Syrian and Canadian citizenship who resides in Canada. He was in USA when he was captured, and then sent to Syria, so why Canada should pay him $10.5M. Why doesnt he ask his Country Syria to pay him? I do not think he will get even a cent, but the foolish Canadian government is always there to be robbed. We are the tax payers demand a recovery of the Arar stolen money. Mr. Arar, please demand your compensation from your original country Syria who as you said ruined life.

Actually, Avi Lewis's grandfather, David Lewis, was instrumental in keeping the communists out of the NDP. I think that this was because Avi's great grandfather Moshe, who was head of the local union decided to move his family to Canada from Poland after being interrogated by the Soviet Union. The family tends to consider the communists anti-union and anti-human rights. Look for Avi on "Inside USA" on youtube.
