  • I remember this performance. I was blown away. I had such a crush on him, the clothing, the hair, the beats the moves and they slick way he sang! Oh Adam!

Diana please, you were so rude to steal his thunder. I noticed how he kept looking over to see if she'd come back. lol not cool

  • wut a bitch-just had to grab sum spotlight!

  • @myabsynthedream In fact she did him a favour by showing the audience that it was completely ok for him to sing her song. Don't forget that it was MOTOWN 25 and that Diana Ross & The Supremes were going to reunite later on in that show so evrybody in that audience must have thought it was strange for 1. an English artist coming to celebrate Motown 25 and 2. for singing The Supremes' first #1 hit.

  • It caused quite a stir backstage when Ross came out unplanned. Just couldn't let the man have his moment. She's a great singer, but her notorious behind-the-scenes conduct over the course of her long career is the stuff of legend.

  • loooooooovvvvveeee

  • Sid Vicious, Billy Idol and Adam Ant by 1983. Americans must have thought all brits were raggedy-dressed, strange-dancing lunatics.

  • @FatBlackFrancis LOL!!!!!!!! ADAM ANT RAGGEDY-DRESSED!?!?!

  • his face, when he saw Diana Ross. Adam Ant is stunning <3

  • I would never leave him!

  • I am a big Soft Cell fan but Adam's version of this song is sooooo much hotter!!! I've been watching this vid now for more than 20 times in a row and still can't get enough of it. I am 41 but in love with Adam like a teenager ;-)

  • that rocks!

  • he's pretty much one of the coolest guys who ever lived....too much?

  • hotness personified 1983 shizznat!

  • I actually learned that it was at Michael Jackson's insistence that Adam perform at this event. Apparently MJ was a big fan of Adam's work and persuaded Motown to include the Dandy Highwayman.

  • @therealsoulproduct no it was berry gordy who asked him

  • oh hells ya! adam rocked it!!!! and diana was too cool for makin that special appearance on stage like that! classic footage of an awesome entertainer who puts most to shame to this day! he could even rock motown baby!!!!

  • it took them awhile to cheer then, they must have had No clue who he was back then, and im not sure how into the new romantic getup America was at the time. but he won em over. he is that damn good :D

  • "Here comes one of England biggest stars" - I feel like having travelled back into 1983

  • Oh là là là là là là. It is amazing how great his voice is. I cannot believe a good-looking man like that has so many qualities. The attractive men I know all have a bad character...but I guess they say the same of us.

  • coolest dude

  • love how he always wears such tight pants he's got some nice legs along with some other nice body parts... XD

  • cool moves. even in 2010 !

  • He is sooo HOT!!!

  • Thanks for putting this on. I have never seen this one. I just loved it.

  • yeah you can see him favoring the leg ..too bad ppl didnt know that

  • with a broken femur, you won't be able to stand let alone dance - according to his boek Stand & Deliver (2006) he was recuperating from a knee operation (removal torn cartilage).

  • Sorry, wrong, you CAN stand on a fractured femur.I worked 50 hrs weeks/plus gym w/ fractured femur/3 mths before diagnosed(1st dr said was pulled muscle)was hairline fracture, later found out biggest bone in body.Head of femur where femur meets hip.I was limping around like that, working etc, before the operation w/no clue! Some people when need be,endure huge amounts of pain. That's what Adam was doing.Doing his job!The show must go on. Imagine the prima donas of today?Canceled Concerts!

  • Is that what that was? Good on him for doing it when he was in pain.

  • Wow. The whole time I was holding my breath, praying that he didn't trip. This is great footage.

  • Oh man i had a crush on him when i was growing up!! he is so wasted here and messes up a little but still so adorable!

  • hes not wasted.....

at this stage he hasnt drank since the 70's and he didnt do drugs

  • If you mean the slight staggering, its part of the dance routine

  • Oh my goodness! I had such a crush on adam ant when i was younger!!! haha. other than the fact that he messes up during that song and is coked (or whatever) out if his mind it remains one of my favs!!

  • great video, great song and what a fantastic sexy woman!

  • I love when Diana comes on - and that outfit is a riot!

  • Why did she do it though? I know this was her first hit song, but she shouldn't have come onstage

  • what a woman she's fabulous in that outfit

  • this was from motown 25..that was diana ross who came on stage hahaha

  • not in europe he is totally huge!!!Andn has been around for a very long time;but like wine he gets better with time.love ya adam

  • Wow. Never heard this one before. Adam is a little underrated isn't he?

  • Even though this song has been covered left and right, sung by people and acts like Diana Ross or Soft Cell, this is by far my favorite version of the song. The electronic drones, the heavy beats, the sultry steaming sax, Stuart Goddard strutting his stuff.... Hot tamale! This is great!

  • I would really love to know what all those Motown people REALLY thought of him doing that song. It was odd i thought.
