I've gotta agree with all the folks here: this is such an amazing, ahead-of-the-times graphics package. Very vlassy. Hard to believe it's a decade old, because Ch. 4 ... or anyone else for that matter ... could trot it out today and it'd still be better than most of the produced-in-house garbage that's out there right now.
They need to. Right now, ever since they got their new GM they switched to in-house gfx and they don't look good. When I buy a capture card I will post the current opens.
The FCC approved of it. The deal is being finalized. Since they'll be owned by a private equity firm, Providence Equity will probably put more money into the station.
Hothaus also did the gfx pack they used from 2002-2005. The cuurent gfx are done in house I think. Hothaus also did the current "San Antonio Living" graphics, which explains why they look better than the main news gfx.
I think you are wrong in this. For example, the camera man carrying the camera is a Hothaus' clip. It's the same clip seen on the open of WAGA-TV and KTBC-TV...
No, I wouldn't have said that if I didn't know it for a fact. That clip isn't owned or shot by Hothaus -- I know of at least 3 stations who used that clip who did their graphics in-house. Its actually part of a stock footage package for TV stations. (WHBQ, WTEN Albany, WMAR to name a few stations that have used the package.) These are indeed in-house, nicely done though.
We can agree to disagree because I know for a fact that Hothaus created these graphics. These graphics were similar to KTBC and their blurs and colors were similar to Hothaus. My source is a person who was staffed at KMOL when their new graphics debuted and he is 100% sure. They used Hothaus again for News 4 WOAI, as you stated.

Hey I remember this very well! These graphics and music are actually better than what they use now. Thanks for putting this vid up!:)

My Sentiments exactly!! The graphics package was very unique and flashy. I think it was the high point of KMOL-WOAI in the past 20 years.

Yep, I agree. United actually put more money into KMOL/WOAI than Clear Channel does.

and now clear channel sold all of its TV stations. The deal still needs approval from the FCC

These graphics were done by Hothaus Creative. It is very similar to a design by KTBC in early 2000.

No they were not. Hothaus did the package after this. These were in-house.

They don't look like they were in-house, they looked like a pro did them. I wonder if he's just saying that because he's a big fan of their work.
