@1fishdreamer I made a vid of the tool i made for you to see. get unit off outboard, put firmly in a vice, and get a good tight fit for your homemade tool and a gentle force application. I prefer not to heat the cast aluminum. Good luck, these are a pain in the ass but new is $800, used $400, and reseal parts $70.
just trying to make my own special rench to take the cylinder apart. cause I don't have a grider dewalt. Anyways is pretty tight I'm gonna try to heat up see if works. Any pointers would help.
@1fishdreamer --forget the allen head plug. just unscrew the top of the cylinder that the shaft rod sticks out of. unscrew it and the cylinder top comes off. then piston comes out and you can replace seals and wiper. Hit me back if you're still having trouble.
@turbomiata007 if you got the top pin from HELL out you should be able to tilt up motor and support it with whatever, then angle the unit back to get to the screws that hold the motor to the unit. The trim motor is DC, Direct Current, it should turn CW to go up and CCW to go down.. or vise versa, if the motor makes it go down, but not runs to come up, i'd check the controls, or hotwire to check function before pulling motor Hope that helps, good luck
I just spent 2 hrs taking out THE PIN FROM HELL...do you know if I have to pull off the lower pin to replace the motor?my motor goes down but not up im hoping its just the motor...thanks
I cannot believe I just found this video!!! I am in the same exact situation and same exact motor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!!
