The shark wanted to die. Look how nerdy looking he was for a shark and his nose was all busted up from trying to get out of the tank. I could have taken out that shark. He didn't look very tough at all. Was like the narrator.
i believe the footage is from national geographic but this commentator has taken it upon himself to dub the audio. national geographic is way too smart to have a voice like this narrating on their work. irritating as.....
Firstly the commentator is an absolute dickhead of immeasurable magnitude and secondly the Dogfish is hardly a predator worthy of an Octopus such as that. As stated the people at the Aquarium didn't know what would happen. It's hardly a battle when the fish is possibly unaware of the threat, the Octopus on the other hand as MinyRullz quite rightly stated are badass. Hardly a fair fight in my opinion.
Sharks don't have muscular gills; they cannot pull water in, rather, they have to swim in order to let water pass through the gills, even whilst they sleep.
When the octopus grabbed the shark, it cut off its ability to breathe. Within a minute, the shark lost most of its capacity to try and fight back, and "drowned". Although suffocated would have probably been a better word.
remember octomom.....they wanted to make a xxx movie but the name was already taken.... but they said it on live air tv during the time kids are watching tv.... it was octop___y....
In YouTube comments from undereducated American 12 year-olds yeh fine, let that one slide but at 1:59 I can't believe this is coming from National Geographic you just can't get the staff
"octopi" implies "octopus" is Latin. It's not, credit goes to Greece, so the whole thing is a mistake, whether in the dictionary or not, the thing is a farce
Quite honestly, as the other poster stated, i'm not too impressed with this footage either. Nor does it surprise me, as Giant Octopi, are EXTREMELY powerful animals. Honestly, "Dogfish" Sharks, shouldn't even be classified, among the "true sharks", at least in my belief. They have very small flattened teeth, for crushing Crabs, Lobsters, and other crustacean's. So this, was a complete mismatch. Had this been a larger species of Shark, such as; Hammerhead or Nurse it would be more believeable....
Frankly, I'm not surprised at this video. They don't call it the "Giant Octopus" for nothing. These creatures are big, intelligent, and very powerful. They can be difficult for divers to handle if they decide to grab one with their tentacles.
Wow people are funny. I donno, I didn't find the narrator that bad. Eh, don't shoot the messenger ;]. Anyway, that was so cool!! Wonder what happens in the ocean o.o
In proper english, I make that out as this: "Oh...well, you're stupid and impossible also. Seeing as you both are see former adjectives, it boggels my mind as to how you are still in existence." Notice ellipses, commas, periods, and capitilization.
it was what we call a mudshark in BC. they don't usually get very big. I've caught dozens of them salmon and cod fishing and the biggest was about 4ft. the octopus around here can get pretty big. Maxim magazine had a picture of an octopus eating a mudshark by campbell river BC a few years back. there even an "octopus marine park" in the waters near campbell river.
typical american hype on the part of the narrator. david attenborough for example, gives you the facts without the bullshit. "the so called invinsible" - well known fact that sharks can be prey to many different animals in the oceans (even great white) and especially the smaller ones (comparison: lion king of the jungle, so is the domestic cat also the king of the jungle?)
OCTOPI is not a word. the plural is octopuses or also accepted is OCTOPODES.
It wasn't a great white, so lets keep it in context. Secondly, how does Octopus kill? I didn't think they had sharp teeth! Do they constrict the prey like a snake would?
they have beak similar to to a parrot but much bigger an stronger for one that size it would bite off a pice the size of childs fist every second or two
Finally a better solution to sleep than studying

"Also accepted" by whom? Latin majors?
Language is determined by the people that use it. Some dictionaries include Octopi as a plural of Octopus, and some do not. Most people say Octopi.
You're right on the first part though. I think they shoot different, dumbed down narration for their YouTube audience. They must think highly of us.
