Any station that tries to get in the newscast business is a 'sell out'. Once they get involved, say goodbye to cartoons, action/sci-fi shows, and monster movies.
In Corpus Christi, we had Channel 39 on cable during most of the 80's (for us it was channel 8). Lots of cartoons and gameshows. TV Power! And it was the only station with Star Trek.
'The best is yet to come'? HA! Yeah right. In 5 years, that station will air nothing but infomercials, reality shows, and girly dramas! If your expecting the station to air cartoons, sci-fi, or anything decent again, your out of luck!
Born in Houston in 64; grew up out of state however, but always watched 39 back in the 60's-80's when I spent my summers there.... talk about memories!
I loved Houston Wrestling as well! It use to be sponsored by IW Marks, Mr. Norman & Gallery Furniture (how Mattress Mac got his start) which will SAVE YOU MONEY!
39, what memories. The 3 Stooges, Popeye, The Flintstones, Batman, The Brady Bunch, Don Mahoney & Jeanna Clare, Houston Wrestling. That's some of the shows I grew up with. For game shows on 39; Catch Phrase, Break The Bank, Match Game, 3's A Crowd, The Gong Show (1988), Sweethearts.
Neat clip! Find it kinda odd that the last time I remember they even put anything into any sort of retrospective was back in 1991 on their 25th Anniversary...
Wow Don Mahoney and Jeanna Clare! I hadn't thought of them in a long time. Thanks for the post I grew in Houston watching that station many years ago.
I love Channel 39 whether it's KHTV 39 Gold, Houston's WB or Houston's CW 39, all that matters to me it's still channel 39 but the one thing that the H will remain the same because it's a houston tv station and it's here to serve houstonians
WOW!! This takes me back! I liked that flash back. I added it to my favorites. I remember just the very idea of the station and the programs it carried.
Also have promo wear he says KETH-TV 39 now leaves the air/returns to the air, due to/from the following necessary maintenance. Thank you for you patience. We now join the program all ready in progress, along with the KETH test card.

67, this makes me want to say 61. Didn't 39 aired in 1953 as DuMont? Along with 14?

Can you borrow some channel 14 promos and clips from the 1950's to the 1990's, including the Marines commercial where the lady is making a sword.

Remember in the early 1970's, how they would have somebody color a black and white picture to the song of "classical gas"..

What kind of eggs does the channel 14 pastor eats. 14 x 3 = 39!

Several things...
1.14x3=42
2. KETH has always been channel 14.
It's no wonder you were banned from wikipedia. Enjoy Your Maniac Mansion & Gospel Bill!
