@yellowman5084 WHAT THE FK ARE YOU ON YOU RETARD T HIS BAND IS AMZING SO IS PARAMORE SO WHAT IF PARAMORE DID A COVER SO WHAT IF EMOS LISTEN TO THEM IM A FREAKING SO CALLED "GRUNGE" I LOVE PARAMORE AND THESE SO GO STUFF YOUR HAND UP YOUR ASS SOMEWHERE ELSE
@Fitz125 The Fantastic Planet album is most certainly rife with songs about heroin addiction, but this one actually about pop songs that get stuck in your head even though you don't want them there. (Which, I'll admit, is itself sort of an allusion to addiction.)
@alfalfa19 It's not about drugs , it's about a song that sticks in your head. Both Ken Andrews and Greg Edwards have said that. That rumour started because of Gregs problems.....
i don't know much about this band. I do know that anytime a band is accused of making a song about something which is politically incorrect, they come up with a nice story "sanitizing" the song as in : Deftones: Knife Party. Also, as a man with much experience with heroin, I can tell by looking at this video, at least 2 of the guys are stone junkies.
whyre you being such a dick? paramore didn't ride to fame covering failure.. they did it because they liked the song, showing respect to failure.. if anything this band has probably gotten more listeners because of paramore.
For those that don't know, this song is not about being stuck on a person, its about being stuck on a song (a melody to be more precise). This could be one of the best songs ever IMO.
It's a matter of interpretation, you can't tell what a song means to a person. Even if you know the circumstances how the piece was created; the artpiece knows more than the artist since it is auto-refferential. And I totally agree, this could be one of the best songs ever.
Kid, you don't know shit about rock and roll.... the only reason this band is even remotely popular is because they have a chick singer and they appeal to little teenagers.....BTW, their cover of "Stuck on You" SUCKS!! Butchered it!
Whoa chill out lol. I disagree with all the people on here saying Paramore is better, I do not like Paramore, but they are entitled to their opinions. If they say they like Paramore better, fine. I do wish Paramore fans wouldn't go on Failure videos and comment on how much they suck. Just keep crap like that to yourself, you know?
Yea man. Considering that Failure was the "alternative" to alternative music. These guys used a different sound that still had melody. Paramore? Since when were these two bands compared? Did I miss something?
Paramore did a cover to this song. They also did covers to bands like Sunny Day Real Estate so now emos are discovering all these bands and comparing them to Paramore and making emo videos over this music. Very sad.

I can't get why you are discussing about which band is better than another rock band who sounds more like fucking weezer or just to make fun of another song......
It really cracks me up when people say that "today" by the smashing pumpkins was better than this song. If you knew anything about this song it was created to make fun of "today". Listen to the lyrics and the music. The song is ment to mimic "today" with a very annoying intro. He sings about how he just cant get the song out of his head. I love when people tell me this is about a girl. This damn song was made to make fun of "today" and how annoying yet addictive it is.

billy corgan sounds like jerry lewis going "hey laaaaady" in a "bullet with butterfly wings" he left to do that zwan album...gee, can't think of one song off there.....plus he looks like lex luthor on smallville. the pumpkins do have some good songs, but don't say that "today", one of their weakest songs, is better than this one, ok? get real
the official Failure tribute album comes out this summer! It's called "The Nurse Who Loved Me". search failure tribute on myspace music. I got to cover "Muffled Snaps" on the album. I am stoked!
the chords of this song are E5, G9(no3rd) , C#5/G#, F#9 (no 3rd), A9(no 3rd). He plays down a 1/2step though.
It's very modal sounding because the lack of 3rds make a key center pretty ambiguous. However the vocal melody implies that it is diatonic to E and the G9 is borrowed from Aeolian. The opening guitar riff is an arpeggiated E9 (no 3rd).
Today is really major and diatonic, uses lots of 3rds, and even a VI- -> V7/II modulation at the bridge. happy sounds.
Ya, poor poooor sad Billy Corgan and his infinite sadness, not to mention great vocal abilities. Did he swallow a sick cat? WE all liked YOU better when you kept your fucking mouth shut.
Dude I found this band because i found out that my favorite Paramore Song Was A Cover Of this band. and oh my god where the hell was i in the 90's? i never heard of them but its cool i just downloaded fantastic planet it rocks
no other band in the history of music has ever put out a concept album about heroin that captures what it fells like to be a junky the way fantastic planet did...thank whatever god that presides over us for failure
I found it by pure chance in 97, and to be honest, I had never heard of them before that album. I am absolutely glad I bought it. Seeing that they broke up, I might never have heard of them after the broke up. Funny you say that, I don't know too many white people that have heard of Failure. Matter of fact, I know none.
Why was I only 9 years old when the album came out? And not yet interested in rock music? Life is so unfair! Anyway, I think Enemy sounds a lot like Failure, so that is a pleasant comfort. And watching this video over and over again, of course.
ive got the video of their show at the whiskey a go-go in 96, but im too computer stupid to know how to get it on my computer. after that im sure i could figure out how to upload it.
Wow, I'm really glad you posted this joemc. Failure was so talented and had some excellent chords and lyrics. I'm almost glad they never became too commercial, but would have loved to see them put out a couple of more albums...
anyone else think that ken andrews looks like keanu reeves from the bill and ted's excellent adventures days? haha..but seriously, failure was a kick ass band
I bought Fantastic Planet one day at a Slackers CDs and Games in Columbia, MO and didn't listen to it for like 2 years; it just sat in my top dresser drawer. When I finally listened to it I flipped out and looked for tickets to a show, and they had already broken up. I have regretted it ever since.
Failure really does kick ass. I only liked one song at first but then i got fantastic planet. I have to say i listened to it probably 5 times the 1st day i got it.
Thanks posting the live footage, Ken is back with his project for those that are interested he's on tour as we speak and though not as dark as Failure it's Ken Andrews so enough said ...
As for PeterPhillip I can't even begin to imagine what a douche bag you are in real life...
wow... this band is horrible. I really wish they wouldn't have called one of their albums Fantastic Planet so that I would have never randomly found their horrible music on here.
Troy Van Leeuwen is one of the best guitar player of all the world, he can be melancolic and frenetic at the same time, demostrated with his prefomence in this band Failure and how he was playing in APC and how hi is playing now in QOTSE. He is great !!!

no other band in the history of music has ever put out a concept album about heroin that captures what it fells like to be a junky the way fantastic planet did...thank whatever god that presides over us for failure

Sure there has....
This band was even bigger in terms of exposure.
The album is called "DIRT".
I'm sure you know what band i'm talking about.

i stand somewhat corrected......alice in chains rocks...one of the greats but to me the poetry and feeling just isn't as intense as the failure

Wow, I'm really glad you posted this joemc. Failure was so talented and had some excellent chords and lyrics. I'm almost glad they never became too commercial, but would have loved to see them put out a couple of more albums...
