  • One person has something "stuck" up their ass.

  • one of the most under-rated bands ever.

  • @dershdude omg totalllllllllllllllly

  • Fucking brilliant!

  • I WAS AT THIS SHOW IT WAS 97

  • I WAS HERE

  • The lead singer is freakn hot.

  • I think this is Denver 1998.

  • @skylarkjz Nope Houston 1997... Failure was no more by 98.

  • @skylarkjz Nope Houston 1997... Failure was no more by 98.

  • @joemc83 sadly

  • @skylarkjz it says on the banner "urban art bar houston tx"

  • I agree with Hateahefferbrandump. This blew muh mind like super orgasm to muh ears

  • Who ever Disliked this has erection problems

  • that place should be packed with people piled on top of one another.

    AMAZING performance!

  • Not a fan

  • In an alterate univesre this band is famous...

  • Its about dope. The whole album is based around opiate addiction

  • @yellowman5084 WHAT THE FK ARE YOU ON YOU RETARD T HIS BAND IS AMZING SO IS PARAMORE SO WHAT IF PARAMORE DID A COVER SO WHAT IF EMOS LISTEN TO THEM IM A FREAKING SO CALLED "GRUNGE" I LOVE PARAMORE AND THESE SO GO STUFF YOUR HAND UP YOUR ASS SOMEWHERE ELSE

  • troyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • this song is about heroin he says ''when i shoot it deep'' at 3:00 FAIL

  • @Fitz125 The Fantastic Planet album is most certainly rife with songs about heroin addiction, but this one actually about pop songs that get stuck in your head even though you don't want them there. (Which, I'll admit, is itself sort of an allusion to addiction.)

  • wtf is paramore :D?

  • this song is about being stuck on a drug, heroin to be exact. the sound just oozes black tar.

  • @alfalfa19 It's not about drugs , it's about a song that sticks in your head. Both Ken Andrews and Greg Edwards have said that. That rumour started because of Gregs problems.....

  • @vicmal2112

i don't know much about this band. I do know that anytime a band is accused of making a song about something which is politically incorrect, they come up with a nice story "sanitizing" the song as in : Deftones: Knife Party. Also, as a man with much experience with heroin, I can tell by looking at this video, at least 2 of the guys are stone junkies.

  • @alfalfa19 I've done heroin too, but that's regardless..........they wrote this song for different reasons than what what you may think.

  • @alfalfa19 fail dude, it's not.

  • I think this song iss great, and the paramore cover too

  • so underrated

  • Heard the Paramore cover first.. these guys are fucking brilliant :D

  • @HumanJarv at least your like me i heard the paramore version and love em both :D

  • anybody who thinks Paramore is good can kiss off! thats why the band does covers riding on the coat tails of other great bands.

Long live failure and ken andrew!

  • whyre you being such a dick? paramore didn't ride to fame covering failure.. they did it because they liked the song, showing respect to failure.. if anything this band has probably gotten more listeners because of paramore.

  • ummm ideaflo didn't say that paramore 'rode to fame', he/she just said they were riding the coat tails of a far superior band.

  • @ideaflo yeah your right |,,|_ rkon paramore and failure

  • stuck on youuu....

  • Thats what i meant. lol i love paramore but they (paramore) cannot beat Failure (the original version) :D

  • These guys are one of the best!! Its just a shame that they weren't that well know!! and rock 'n' roll aint about being popular btw!! peace O

  • Amazing song! I love paramore and they did a good cover BUT nobody can ever beat the original version!!

  • your every where inside of me....

  • For those that don't know, this song is not about being stuck on a person, its about being stuck on a song (a melody to be more precise). This could be one of the best songs ever IMO.

  • It's not even that, It's about having a boring repetitive song stuck in your head. Ken Andrews said it himself.

  • It's a matter of interpretation, you can't tell what a song means to a person. Even if you know the circumstances how the piece was created; the artpiece knows more than the artist since it is auto-refferential. And I totally agree, this could be one of the best songs ever.

  • Who the fuck is Paramore? A cover band??

  • are you being serious?

there like the best band ever D:

    look them up! :L

  • Kid, you don't know shit about rock and roll.... the only reason this band is even remotely popular is because they have a chick singer and they appeal to little teenagers.....BTW, their cover of "Stuck on You" SUCKS!! Butchered it!

  • Excellent, and im into brutal death metal...

  • this is a song about itself

  • So true, so true.

  • its a great song *-*

  • Whoa chill out lol. I disagree with all the people on here saying Paramore is better, I do not like Paramore, but they are entitled to their opinions. If they say they like Paramore better, fine. I do wish Paramore fans wouldn't go on Failure videos and comment on how much they suck. Just keep crap like that to yourself, you know?

  • Yea man. Considering that Failure was the "alternative" to alternative music. These guys used a different sound that still had melody. Paramore? Since when were these two bands compared? Did I miss something?

  • Paramore did a cover to this song. They also did covers to bands like Sunny Day Real Estate so now emos are discovering all these bands and comparing them to Paramore and making emo videos over this music. Very sad.

  • It's pathetic that the one time this band gets any kind of popularity, it's from fucking emo trend whores.

    Failure deserves better than that

  • i agree to a point at least they haven't been forgotten like most emo bands

  • his voice sounds just like the record. such a good song

  • LOL he's like 14. How can you take this serious. Anyway, what does that shitty band have with Failure?

  • noob..what do you mean you can't hear failure in this video? you retarded? this band IS failure, the real deal. that guy singing is ken andrews.

  • Failure rocks!!!!

  • Do over! - comeback Failure - you are missed!

  • I think they are typical example of- in wrong place in wrong time- phrase. In that time most of the audience still was macho-hard rock/ metal audience. They would have much commercial succes in late 90-s early 00.

  • But that's why they were so good, because they didn't have commercial success, and never sold out.

  • I agree. But in some ways it's better they weren't too famous, because now you have to work to discover them and it's so worth it. It's like discovering a precious gem or something. Unfortunately because of Paramore all these emo fans are discovering Failure and insulting them.

  • @Andrash88 not too sure about that bro u gotta think in late 80's early 90's we had, my bloody valentine, jesus marychain, nirvana, pixies , smashing pumpkins.. not that thye had they same sound.. but you know what i mean...

  • @Andrash88 They were indeed much ahead of their time.

  • @Andrash88

youre an idiot. this was shot in 97. late 90s. i dont know why people voted you up. theyre stupid too -_____-

  • @vdoza33 but this is like the very end of their career. if theyd stuck around even half a year longer i'm sure they would'vebeen the hot shit.

  • @Andrash88 This was late 90's.....it's 1997!

  • whoever recorded these performances and put them up here is a fucking god.

  • Two thumbs up on the failure live performances.

  • @kumaraisin Right!!?? you know whats up!

  • Paramore's version didn't suck. That's about all the credit I'll give them.

  • Paramore covered this!:]

    both versions are amazing!!!

  • Third that- They FRIGGIN RULE!!!

  • "today" rock sucks... maybe im just a bitter middle aged guy who misses the seattle musical geniuses

  • Seattle music is dead.

It's all pop-rock or some other indie bullshit.

Washington hasn't produced a good band sine the 90's.

Trust me, I live here xD

  • Same here, and I 100% agree.

  • whats up with all the "today" comparisons? the songs are completely different. its like comparing the difference between a deep love story and a slapstick comedy.

  • he sure is makin sweet love to that mic

  • i love this song and i think paramore did a really good cover of it. original is still the best tho haha. my fav song atm

  • this is currently my fav song,

  • ken is the perfect alt rocker. hes got the alt rock chin and uncharacteristic short hair for the grunge 90s.

  • how i miss this band :(

  • They sound about the same live, good band.

  • underrated... :(

  • great song, great band, but so weird when the video and audio go out of sync in this clip.

  • no its not its about today from the smashing pumpkins getting stuck in his head. listen to the words again or better yet look up the Ken Andrews interview about this song on you tube

he described about being unwillingly addicted to that song thats why the guitar riff sounds seemingly close to the riff in "Today"

he did that as a tribute

  • lol wut?

  • kick nutz, oh..oh.. so bad ass. This band makes me revert to the old days. PLEASE FAILURE GET BACK TOGETHER...PLease.

  • greg and ken can't agree on shit anymore. its so sad. i want to see a reunion. but i have met them both in person on seperate occasions, and greg is so introverted and distant. no f'kin wonder.

  • I can't get why you are discussing about which band is better than another rock band who sounds more like fucking weezer or just to make fun of another song......

*a massive fan of both failure & SP ^_^*

  • Failure is *the* shit! :] A very underrated band.

  • It really cracks me up when people say that "today" by the smashing pumpkins was better than this song. If you knew anything about this song it was created to make fun of "today". Listen to the lyrics and the music. The song is ment to mimic "today" with a very annoying intro. He sings about how he just cant get the song out of his head. I love when people tell me this is about a girl. This damn song was made to make fun of "today" and how annoying yet addictive it is.

  • I would give my sack and it's contents to have been at this gig.

  • AMEN!

    me too....

    T T

  • this is a true grunge wall of sound.I see now where Jesu drink some inspiration maybe.

this guys owned weezer for sure

  • Sorry to the Mr.-1 but Failure owns weezer.

  • Sorry to the weezer fans, but with Failure aroung the same time. Us non wezeer fans should have never been subjected to them. Failure is 10x the band, over some of that sorry ass MTV produced shit, that came out in the mid 90's

  • Perfect circle's version of Nurse SUX Failure was classic dam shame they broke up as early as they did GREAT songwriting

  • It's kind of sad literally nobody I've ever asked has known that A Pefect Circle's "The Nurse Who Loved Me" is a cover of these guy's song.

  • It's a damn shame more people don't know about this band. Or ON and year of the rabbit, for that matter. All three were fucking awesome. Kudos to you.

  • IF THE MUSICS TOO LOUD, YOUR TOO OLD!

  • Patcaboli, i love the smashing pumpkins but to say that "today" is a better song than failure's "stuck on you" is just ignorant. Get real and grow a set of ears dude! Failure is the greatest and most underrated band of the ninties.

  • I can't believe warner brothers didn't push this more. What a fucking shame, you would think that with massive respect from the music COMMUNITY that the producers would give them some fucking credit, but NOOOO, god forbid they give money to bands that sound DIFFERENT for a change.

  • i know this sounds stupid, but i thought paramore was the who wrote and sang this song! until i read a comment saying about this band, then boom! realization. lol

  • billy corgan sounds like jerry lewis going "hey laaaaady" in a "bullet with butterfly wings" he left to do that zwan album...gee, can't think of one song off there.....plus he looks like lex luthor on smallville. the pumpkins do have some good songs, but don't say that "today", one of their weakest songs, is better than this one, ok? get real

  • this is better than smashing pumpkins, i was getting high to this music when you punks were still running down your mamas legs...

  • the official Failure tribute album comes out this summer! It's called "The Nurse Who Loved Me". search failure tribute on myspace music. I got to cover "Muffled Snaps" on the album. I am stoked!

  • I thought the opening riff sounded like "Today" too. The big difference between the two is that Failure's song is better.

  • wow...do you know sign language? You must be kinda deaf.

  • You must not know music

  • yea..

    the chords of this song are E5, G9(no3rd) , C#5/G#, F#9 (no 3rd), A9(no 3rd). He plays down a 1/2step though.

It's very modal sounding because the lack of 3rds make a key center pretty ambiguous. However the vocal melody implies that it is diatonic to E and the G9 is borrowed from Aeolian. The opening guitar riff is an arpeggiated E9 (no 3rd).

Today is really major and diatonic, uses lots of 3rds, and even a VI- -> V7/II modulation at the bridge. happy sounds.

    music???

  • your music theory incompetence and lacking of appreciation for good music is very amusing. silly person.

  • Ya, poor poooor sad Billy Corgan and his infinite sadness, not to mention great vocal abilities. Did he swallow a sick cat? WE all liked YOU better when you kept your fucking mouth shut.

  • i cant get enough of this song

  • Fantastic song!!

  • Dude I found this band because i found out that my favorite Paramore Song Was A Cover Of this band. and oh my god where the hell was i in the 90's? i never heard of them but its cool i just downloaded fantastic planet it rocks

  • same here dude.

  • Second that- Jesus these guys rule!

  • i know, right!?!?

  • no other band in the history of music has ever put out a concept album about heroin that captures what it fells like to be a junky the way fantastic planet did...thank whatever god that presides over us for failure

  • Sure there has....

This band was even bigger in terms of exposure.

    The album is called "DIRT".

I'm sure you know what band i'm talking about.

  • i stand somewhat corrected......alice in chains rocks...one of the greats but to me the poetry and feeling just isn't as intense as the failure

  • I found it by pure chance in 97, and to be honest, I had never heard of them before that album. I am absolutely glad I bought it. Seeing that they broke up, I might never have heard of them after the broke up. Funny you say that, I don't know too many white people that have heard of Failure. Matter of fact, I know none.

  • Why was I only 9 years old when the album came out? And not yet interested in rock music? Life is so unfair! Anyway, I think Enemy sounds a lot like Failure, so that is a pleasant comfort. And watching this video over and over again, of course.

  • the best under rated music band in history

  • the singer looks like keanu reeves!

  • Ken Andrews is going out on tour again, send me a message and ill send you the link.

  • ive got the video of their show at the whiskey a go-go in 96, but im too computer stupid to know how to get it on my computer. after that im sure i could figure out how to upload it.

  • Failure... 5/5

  • Wow, I'm really glad you posted this joemc. Failure was so talented and had some excellent chords and lyrics. I'm almost glad they never became too commercial, but would have loved to see them put out a couple of more albums...

  • Thanks for posting this. Totally made my day.

  • anyone else think that ken andrews looks like keanu reeves from the bill and ted's excellent adventures days? haha..but seriously, failure was a kick ass band

  • lol, i thought that too. Oddly enough it's just at this show. Wild Stallions! \m/

Finally learned this song too, gonna play it till my fingers bleed.

  • I bought Fantastic Planet one day at a Slackers CDs and Games in Columbia, MO and didn't listen to it for like 2 years; it just sat in my top dresser drawer. When I finally listened to it I flipped out and looked for tickets to a show, and they had already broken up. I have regretted it ever since.

  • Talk about some awesome tone...

  • I fell in love with a girl and this song reminds me of her.. I hate her so much

  • Failure really does kick ass. I only liked one song at first but then i got fantastic planet. I have to say i listened to it probably 5 times the 1st day i got it.

  • blah

  • love the drum fill at 3:44, so awesome

one of my favorite bands ever... great song, wish I could find more live stuff on youtube.

everyone should check out ken andrews solo, on, year of the rabbit, and the replicants

  • Thanks posting the live footage, Ken is back with his project for those that are interested he's on tour as we speak and though not as dark as Failure it's Ken Andrews so enough said ...

As for PeterPhillip I can't even begin to imagine what a douche bag you are in real life...

  • wow... this band is horrible. I really wish they wouldn't have called one of their albums Fantastic Planet so that I would have never randomly found their horrible music on here.

  • Ouch... why so harsh? Anyways thanks for stopping by!

  • You have to be kidding?

  • peterphilip, you're kidding me right? failure is one of the best bands of the nineties!

  • Troy Van Leeuwen is one of the best guitar player of all the world, he can be melancolic and frenetic at the same time, demostrated with his prefomence in this band Failure and how he was playing in APC and how hi is playing now in QOTSE. He is great !!!

  • I Love this band, BEST BAND EVER!

  • Hey joemc, thanks for puttin this up man.Is this in TX?Failure's MySpace page has Ken Andrews on there for his new stuff.Pretty good also.

  • he looks like keanu abit lol

  • one of my all time favorite songs

  • I love Failure... I wish they were still making music.

  • Where did this performance take place?

  • FAILURE WHY name their band failure?

  • and the basses is now in autolux :] right?

  • right, and the drummer is in Veruca Salt now

  • Awesome! that's Troy Van Leeuwen from AperfectCIrcle, Queens of the Stone Age, and ENEMY playing lead guitar....starting off the song!!

  • Uh huh.
