Hey icewarehouse i have a very wide foot its actually a little bit wider than a EE. Right now i have a pair of bauer x60 and i have hat them since september and it hurts a bit when i skate because of my foot. I have heard that x60 is a little bit of a narrow skate. I have think about to get the flexlite because i have heard that it's a wide skate. But what do you think can be a good skate for me that not hurts to much?
I have Bauer one20 skates and they fit great, do you think a bauer one60 would fit great as well? Is a regular width in the one20's closer to a D width or a EE width in the one60's. Also are reebok skates similar fit? Thanks.
I recently purchased Synergy SE6's, which were marked down to $79.99 from $199.99. I've been playing for 8 years, but lately I've only played casually about twice a week. I'm concerned about their durability; multiple reviews have said that they break down after 1-2 years. It worries me that they were marked down so low. Would you recommend that I spend a little more for a better skate, or are these fine for an experienced but casual player?
I quote from your site "Easton states that their skates generally fit 1.5 sizes down from your regular shoe size." Is the information on your site wrong?
@bong945 As you can see, this video is over two years old and sizing has changed a bit. The Stealth line is still a half size down, but their EQ line is not a size and a half down from your shoe size. Sorry for the confusion.
Are reebok 8k's/10k's comparable to the bauer one60's. I want a skate that fits tight round the ankle. the bauer one60 seems ok but will a reebok skate give me an even snugger fit?
@downtoearthwithben The 8K/10Ks are a little bit higher level of skate. Both will fit tight around the ankle, the One60's will have a narrow fit all the way through the skate while the RBK's will have a wider forefoot and toebox area. Hope that helps.
what skates fit closest to reebok 6ks, i have wider feet and the 6ks seem to fit ok for me but im going to be getting new skates and want something a little lighter
I'm the unlucky one with a medium arch foot and a flat foot. So it sucks finding skates because one skate fits comfortably and the other skate doesn't.
Nice video thanks a lot! but I have some wonders, my feets are pretty small (8.5~9 shoe size) and when I stand normally they kind of get a V shape, like they are going a bit outside, I have to tape the top part of the skate (above the ankle) so it doesn't feel loose, any recomendations?
@icehockeywarehouse I don't think it was the issue, I just have a bad genetic I think. Do you have any recommendations on good narrow and stable skates?
I just got the Baur Vapor SFL V Jr. New for christmas are they newer or older skates in the line of vapors? I would just like some feedback on them Thx
Hi, so what do you think about Grafs? I hear they are the comfyist skates around? I have a wide foot but I like the aggresive sound of the bauer vapors. Im 6ft2 and bulky, i want speed but I also want comfort. I have a wide foot also. Grafs or vapors what do you think?
@downtoearthwithben I personally haven't used Grafs but that's what I have heard as well. Vapors are pretty narrow, so you might want to give the Grafs a try.
@downtoearthwithben -- IW doesn't appear to sell Graf's, so I'll throw in my 2 kopeks about them. One of the neatest things about Graf's is their range of skates for different feet/player types. Bauer has gone the F (Vapor) vs. D (Supreme) approach, but nothing as customizable as what Graf offers. Hi casey , i need an a suggestion. I had an eaaston s9 size 8 EE and i want to switch to easton synergy se16 so can you tell me if the size is the same or i need a bigger shoe ?
i have never played ice hockey but i can play roller hockey pretty good. i am wondering if i should get bauers or easton. i don't have that big of a budget. i don't think my roller skates are the right size because the sole doesn't match my feet. my skate shoe size is 8.5 but it's a little big so based on that what size do you think i should get and what brand.
Why don't you guys have Graf? I've been wondering what kind of fit they offer because when trying them on they fit me best between bauer reebok etc. I really like the ultra g75s
I know this doesn't exactly pertain to skate fitting; but I am 15 and have been skating for 8 years. I have Vapor X:50s, and for the past few months, I have been having some trouble with the blade. I can't take off fast without losing an edge, and I can't make a tight turn without losing an edge and falling down. I can't get a full stride, and these problems have really been affecting my game. Do you think it could have something to do with the radius or lie of the blade? Pleaseee help.
@icehockeywarehouse Yes, I sharpen them regularly, and no matter where or how often I sharpen them, I still don't feel as stable as I used to on my skates. The skate fits me perfectly and is broken in.
How do you know what size length laces to buy for your skate, and what is the best brand for waxed laces, i heard pro guards or texstyle are good, which one will help me tighten my skates and keep my skates tightened the best with the least amount of pain?
@tmlrlz The lace length is determined by the size of the skate. I personally use the Elite ProLace waxed laces and they hold the tightness pretty well.
@PossessedDonutz Unfortunately at this time we are not doing custom skates. You can try contacting the manufacturer you prefer to see if they can help you out.
Now I use Easton EQ1's, I started a while back, and I wear size 6d's do you think that the Easton stealth s12's are good (in general?) my foot is kind o narrow and I am small, do you think that the Bauer x30's or the Easton s12's would be better for me? (generally speaking)
@egoore1 The Vapor X30 is going to be slightly narrower than the S12. Both boots are cut very similar (low cut). Either one would work fine. If you want me to recommend you a skate on narrow width alone, get the Vapor.
@MrRookie26 That is something that's pretty hard to measure. Many brands D width's are also different. What do you skate with now? If this is your first skate, I would recommend going to a pro shop or trying on your friends. If you wear a D widthin CCM or Reebok, you might be a EE in Bauer Vapor but still a D in the Bauer Supreme.
what about GRAFs? I have GRAF Ultra G5s, and they are the best skates I have ever worn. I have had RBK 9k and 11k, and i have had CCM Vectors, Tacks, and recently returned my Crazy Lights to get the GRAFs.
i have a question thats been eating at me my friend says the nike bauers wer the best skates ever so what is the difference between the reguler bauers like the x60 n the nike bauers like the xxxx
@Theawesomezachman No, the EQ line uses a new "Synergy fit." Here are the general fit characteristics for Easton Synergy EQ skate line: * Forefoot - Medium * Volume - Medium * Heel - Medium
* Stance - Slightly aggressive
Also keep in mind that the Synergy line runs about 1.5 sizes down from your shoe size.
I've been wearing a pair of the old Tacks 1052's (size 10D) since 1999 or so and they are finally falling apart (already replaced steel, runners, eyelets, footbeds, etc...). Played Midget AAA hockey and HS. I bought a pair of 1152's in the same size back around 2003 and they never fit right...too wide/big and I always felt a step slower. It's time for a new pair of skates, any recommendations? I've heard the Bauer Supreme line is similar to the old CCM Tacks series? Maybe the One80's?
@kluegs17 They do have a similar fit. The One80 is a really solid skate. I would try it out and keep in mind if your not happy with the fit or the skates in general, we have free return shipping for skates.
@icehockeywarehouse Well, I'm thinking about getting the CCM U+ PRO, but the dramatic price reduction worries me. Also, I heard that it is extremely stiff and hard to break in. Your thoughts?
@Handsun1996 The price drop is just because they were older. They are a very stiff skate, but so are most top of the line skates. Just bake them, and the U Foam molds pretty well.
ok which would be better for me vapor x40's supreme one80's or vapor x30's. I'm 12 (almost 13) 5.2 100 pounds i'm on the ice 3-5 times a week. and my shoe size is a 7.5
I'm 6'4 and not quite 200lbs. My shoe size is somewhere between a 13.5 and 14. I have a wide forefoot (big toe), high arch and narrow heel. I play forward in two competitive men's leagues. In addition, I skate in occasional weekend tournaments. My favorite skate ever was the CCM 652 Tacks w/ pump (circa 1995). Since, I've tried the 2008 CCM U+ Pros and the Bauer Vapor XXV. I sold the CCMs because the blisters were too painful (after 3 bakes). I use the Vapors, but don't love them. Any advice?
Hey guys im 14 years old about 5'9-10 weigh about 165-70 i was looking at the reebok 4k i am just starting hockey would that be a good buy for me? Thanks.
Hey, I am 14, run a size 13 running shoe and stand at about 6 foot 1 (off skates) weigh about 185, currently wearing a size 10 1/2 E RBK 5k skate (though they are feeling small and are broken in the back, I am looking for an 11 E size US) play in a A/AA league, and get on the ice 6 days a week and on tuesdays I get on twice. I liked the feel of the RBK's and I really liked the pump, but I would be willing to try another brand. What would you sugguest for me? Thanks, HockeyNSports
@MrSnipey21 No brand really is designed specifically for flat feet, but going with Reebok or CCM would be your best bet. They run wide so there is more room for your foot. I would recommend getting a footbed designed for flat feet.
I'm 14 and just starting ice hockey I usually skate once or twice a week and I'm wondering what skates to get. Willing to drop up to $150 and i am a medium foot shape. I have been looking at vapors though.
Hey Tyson, just wanted to ask a few questions. So due to this I'm thinking I'd fit well in Supreme's(Looking at One 100's) because I use Reebok right now. Is that fair to say? As well, how would you know what too stiff is? Right now, 11k is too soft, but I'm worried that a One 100 might be too stiff. But I skate 5-7 times, advanced, and I'm a pretty big guy. And I've already tried the One100, it felt great but I won't know how it feels on the ice until I buy.
@HALOGLITCHES43 I'm not sure on padding, because how comfortable it feel or what not depends on your foot shape and the shape of the skate. But if you just want to know which skate line generally has the thickest foams in the quarter panel I would say the Bauer Flexlite skates.
Im looking to get some new skates, i play alot of rec, but i am trying out for my high schools team next year. I currently have Easton SE2s but im not really happy with the footbed it doesnt cradle very well. Im looking to spend around $150, What skates would you recommend?
@iKJWilson Really depends on what fits you best. Think about your foot whether its wider or narrower and then look at the fit aspects and see what seems to match.
I am going to start ice skating again for exercise and i roller blade alot so i thought it would be better for me to get ice hockey skates rather than figure skates but im really worried that i wont be able to find a size small enough for
me since im a girl and i wear a size 6, also seems like hockey skates have more support , i have weak ankles
@EvilThingsNme You shouldn't have any problem finding some, you will need to just look at Junior size skates, they go down to a size 1.0. Keep in mind the skates run about a size and a half down from a Men's shoe size.
How much bigger is the size EE to a R? The skates i have right now is a R which is squeezing my feet so it hurts. Im deciding to get EE but how much bigger is it>?
Isn't the Supreme One95 narrower than the Vapors? I've heard that all the Supreme is wider, except the One95 and some other, and that the Vapor is gonna fit V-shaped feet better, is that right or...?
I'm curious if I should maybe get a pair of X:60's- I recently got myself a pair of One95'ers and skated on them (after baking) for the first time today. They fit nice at the heel (Though I got some blisters at one foot) but becomes kinda wide at the front, but at the same time, my foot is too wide
@Zabuz The Supreme skates are all fit the same. So the one95 skates will have the same general fit as the rest of the skate line. The Vapors are the narrower skate line, and Supreme skates are wider. I wouldn't really say either the Supreme or Vapors have a V-shape (CCM is going for that fit though).
Your skates could just still need some breaking in. Its hard to tell on fit without seeing your foot.
I am really worried because I have a pair of skates that are 8 D. THey hurt on the sides of my foot. Should I go to an E? and if yes would the Bauer Vapor X 30's have that size?
i have a question regarding skate fitting. for the last 2 years ive owned two different pairs of skates because i keep growing. i owned a pair of bauer supreme 95s and now i have reebok 9ks. i wear 10.5 to 11 in shoes and both skates had 1.5 shoe size difference. the thing is....my feet cramped all the time. even after a complete season of hockey with games every weekend and practices every week. my feet still cramp! are they too narrow? thanks
@Halofan11 That could be the case it depends on where it feels cramped. If it is in the sides you might want to go with an E width skate. If it is in your toes maybe go a half size up.
@Halofan11 WOW! I've had this exact same problem all my life. I've been playing hockey since I was 11 yrs old and now I'm 27. I the last 5-6 yrs I had a pair of CCM Tacks, D or DD width (which when looking at them, still look narrow for a D/DD) and my feet would cramp. Two years ago I bought RBK 9k (all white, stiff boot), Size E. My feet STILL cramp so badly that I cannot skate for more then a few mins, even had them baked once too and they are decently worked in now too.
Those skates costed me $550 2 yrs ago too and I dont want to spend another $600+ on a decent boot that still manages to make my feet cramp. My last hope I think now is to try a nice pair of Bauer Supremes and go EE. If they still hurt then, I'd be pretty annoyed and have to think there is something genetically wrong with my feet or perhaps the way I skate/balance, etc. My feet tend to cramp/hurt on the sides, at the mid section of my foot. Never my heel and never my toes. Does this happen often?
@MaddSeason The skates you have used may have been too narrow for you. I would suggest trying on different manufacturers and width and see if you find less pressure points.
I have pretty weak ankles, as in my skates bow out unless i make a great effort to hold them straight. I'm looking for an ice skate that could support me side-to-side better and is in a low price range, since I'm getting more into skating/maybe playing hockey. What would you recommend?
Hey, I'm 160 pounds, 5'9",size about 10.5-11.0..i skate about 4 times a week and I play icehockey . What skate would be the best for me , when I don't want to spend so much money ?
I wear a 7.5 D synergy 500 skate, which is a horrible skate. I'm looking to get a new pair, I'm 5'9", 150 pounds- size 9-9.5 shoe, and skate about 3 times a week. Im a high school player, would the Bauer Supreme70 be a good skate for me? if not what would be?
@mysteezyfooty Biggest question in skate selection is how does that skates fit match your foot type. Sounds like that is about the right level of skate just make sure the Supreme skate offers the fit thats best for your foot.
@comradecommedy They are wider in the forefoot than the Supreme but a little snugger in the heel. Bauer is using the same fit as the Nike skates. Check out the interview I did with Evan from Bauer on their skates. He does a good job at comparing the lines.
Hi i wondered if you could help me :) i am getting new skates this year so i wonder which brand is best for me, my shoes are 8.5-9, i have a slightly wider feet and in flat footed. I am 5"7 weighing 145 poundsand will be skating about 6 times a week.
I just ordered some new Vapor XXXX skates and my shoe size is a 6 and I got a size 4.5 skates, but it seems that my foot just touches the toe box, but I want my skates to be a little bigger so is it possible that I can extend it just a tad bit so it would fit better on me?
I used old bauer vapor XXX skates but they stop making it so i´m looking for something similar. Can you advise me what skates i should try? I was thinking about bauer flexlite 4.0 but i´m not sure.

Now I use Easton EQ1's, I started a while back, and I wear size 6d's do you think that the Easton stealth s12's are good (in general?) my foot is kind o narrow and I am small, do you think that the Bauer x30's or the Easton s12's would be better for me? (generally speaking)
egoore1 8 months ago
@egoore1 The Vapor X30 is going to be slightly narrower than the S12. Both boots are cut very similar (low cut). Either one would work fine. If you want me to recommend you a skate on narrow width alone, get the Vapor.

How do you know if you need a 'D' or a 'EE'?
MrRookie26 9 months ago
@MrRookie26 That is something that's pretty hard to measure. Many brands D width's are also different. What do you skate with now? If this is your first skate, I would recommend going to a pro shop or trying on your friends. If you wear a D widthin CCM or Reebok, you might be a EE in Bauer Vapor but still a D in the Bauer Supreme.

does the new EQ line in the easton skates have the same fit as the stealth series?
Theawesomezachman 11 months ago
@Theawesomezachman No, the EQ line uses a new "Synergy fit." Here are the general fit characteristics for Easton Synergy EQ skate line: * Forefoot - Medium * Volume - Medium * Heel - Medium
* Stance - Slightly aggressive
Also keep in mind that the Synergy line runs about 1.5 sizes down from your shoe size.
Erik at IW Hockey

@Theawesomezachman No. EQ is not quite as wide in the forefoot and not as tight in the heel but the EQ skates are very moldable.

Maybe the One80's?
kluegs17 11 months ago
@kluegs17 They do have a similar fit. The One80 is a really solid skate. I would try it out and keep in mind if your not happy with the fit or the skates in general, we have free return shipping for skates.

@Handsun1996 The price drop is just because they were older. They are a very stiff skate, but so are most top of the line skates. Just bake them, and the U Foam molds pretty well.

Any advice?

Hey Tyson, just wanted to ask a few questions. So due to this I'm thinking I'd fit well in Supreme's(Looking at One 100's) because I use Reebok right now. Is that fair to say? As well, how would you know what too stiff is? Right now, 11k is too soft, but I'm worried that a One 100 might be too stiff. But I skate 5-7 times, advanced, and I'm a pretty big guy. And I've already tried the One100, it felt great but I won't know how it feels on the ice until I buy.

Zabuz 1 year ago
@Zabuz The Supreme skates are all fit the same. So the one95 skates will have the same general fit as the rest of the skate line. The Vapors are the narrower skate line, and Supreme skates are wider. I wouldn't really say either the Supreme or Vapors have a V-shape (CCM is going for that fit though).
Your skates could just still need some breaking in. Its hard to tell on fit without seeing your foot.

Halofan11 1 year ago
@Halofan11 That could be the case it depends on where it feels cramped. If it is in the sides you might want to go with an E width skate. If it is in your toes maybe go a half size up.
Tyson
IceWarehouse
icehockeywarehouse 1 year ago
@Halofan11 WOW! I've had this exact same problem all my life. I've been playing hockey since I was 11 yrs old and now I'm 27. I the last 5-6 yrs I had a pair of CCM Tacks, D or DD width (which when looking at them, still look narrow for a D/DD) and my feet would cramp. Two years ago I bought RBK 9k (all white, stiff boot), Size E. My feet STILL cramp so badly that I cannot skate for more then a few mins, even had them baked once too and they are decently worked in now too.
MaddSeason 1 year ago
Those skates costed me $550 2 yrs ago too and I dont want to spend another $600+ on a decent boot that still manages to make my feet cramp. My last hope I think now is to try a nice pair of Bauer Supremes and go EE. If they still hurt then, I'd be pretty annoyed and have to think there is something genetically wrong with my feet or perhaps the way I skate/balance, etc. My feet tend to cramp/hurt on the sides, at the mid section of my foot. Never my heel and never my toes. Does this happen often?
MaddSeason 1 year ago
@MaddSeason The skates you have used may have been too narrow for you. I would suggest trying on different manufacturers and width and see if you find less pressure points.
