George Meredith once said that "A witty woman is a treasure; a witty beauty is a power." What do you guys think? Do you agree? Should we be so concerned with physical appearance?
Great tutorial but… the cloning on the eye messes up one thing: the catch light, in the copied eye it stays on the wrong side due to the flip. Just an heads up to everyone. IMHO if you want to keep it simple it's hard to get better results with such a simple and fast technique. This saves a lot of work. Thumbs up for this tutorial
Thank you!!!! You helped me out a lot! I love photoshopping in my spare time, and I'm pretty good for a 13 year old, and I just got much better thanks to this tutorial.
Wow so much hate going on here. Peros85 seems so out of line I don't even know what to say. Photoshop causes girls to be anorexic as much as Ghost Recon causes people to go on shooting sprees. I believe the real problem lies in poor parenting and deeper psychological problems not flawless photoshopped faces.
@phaskellhall thank you. you actually beat me to the parenting thing. and honestly, if you are unable to discern between fantasy and reality, then you already have issues. the media is a business and the goal of a business is to make profit. advertising imagery sells products based on the unattainable, because human beings by nature want what they can't have. that's why we keep up with the joneses and we think the grass is greener on the other side.
The media's ideal of beauty and focus on perfection is WRONG and you Sean, among many others, helps us all keep it that way :-(
I think you all should stop and think for a while. Is this the way people look in real life? Is this the way we WANT people to look like? Perfectly shaped and symmetrical? Is it really ok to change a persons look like that? Do we really want to be a part of this?
If I could dislike this video (and others in the same category) more than once, I would have done it..
@peros85 Sean is selling a product (a picture) to a company that is trying to sell another product (clothing makeup etc). Sean's image needs to be perfect if he wants to make money because the client is not going to advertise makeup with a face with flaws.
It is the exact same as McDonald's taking delicious looking pictures of their Big Mac. Have you ever had a Big Mac ever actually look like the image? It's just advertising, nothing deeper than that.
@rlmorrisphoto With the difference that big macs that do not look perfect doesn't make for example young girls anorectic, or unhappy about themselves or their looks. Neither does it make people think a fat person or someone with a face with flaws isn't beautiful.
Trust me, people's idea of beauty gets affected by these perfect faces and skins. Conciously or unconciously.
Sean needs to start convincing his clients that they have to accept faces with flaws. Someone has to start.
@peros85 yes, this is how i want people to look. it may not be how YOU want them to look, but then again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. what may be beautiful to you may be ugly to me. who are you to say what is wrong and what is right when it comes to how people view beauty? there are far worse things in this world, like war, religion, destruction of the environment, corruption in government and so forth. it's just photoshop. get some perspective.
@FstoppersPPT If we would to get perspective we would never discuss matters like this. Yes, war is worse.. But this conversation isn't about that. I get that people see beauty in different ways. But it still doesn't change the fact that the ideals are wrong, making people suffer, feel bad about themselves because you think that beauty should be beautiful faces with soft baby-like skin... So if your ideals wouldn't hurt anybody, I wouldn't complain. But that's very seldom the reality...
@peros85 if you dislike photoretouching and how the media defines beauty, get off youtube, close your eyes everytime you pass by a fashion ad, or everytime the kardashians come on TV or whatever you find "wrong". Bashing this tutorial and the guy behind it isn't going to change anything but make others dislike you and disregard your opinions even more. Although I agree the media isnt friendly to our self esteems, it boils down to the individual, those supporting him/her, upbringing & etc
@FstoppersPPT Sorry, thats just a lot of bullshit.. It's not just photoshop, because your pictures end up in magazines, big posters, everywhere. People get bombarded with your and others pictures every day. Of course it will affect their view of beauty! I'm nobody special to say what's wrong or right but I know that you affect people and that you should think of what view of beauty you convey.
@peros85 where in my work do you see anything based on reality? i am not selling reality. i am selling fantasy. i am selling the notion of physical perfection which anyone will know is impossible. it is only through my work as a photographer that i am able to portray perfection. it has nothing to do with ideals, or right and wrong. i create my art because that is how I see beauty.
I hope you dont mind Sean if I may add something. When duplicating eyes you have to make sure you keep the same light cast, it didnt happen so much in this demonstration however i have been in situations where i wonder why her eyes will looked crossed and it's caused from duplicating the eyes and not returning the light cast back to normal... anyway bro, these are some of the best tuts ive ever seen on youtube, cant wait for more. stay sick
@mattutubematt and others, It's not an issue! It's the beauty of every single one of us. We are not symmetrical and should not be, neither in real life nor in a photo.
Someone has to start changing these ideals. And that someone is you. Convince your client that the person in the photo is more beautiful this way. With his or her irregularities. Start loving it yourself.
Sean I love your tutorials. They've helped improve my retouching time SO much now that I don't have to fight with the PS tools (especially the healing brush). I've learned more from these videos than an entire semester of a portrait retouching class. THANK YOU!!!
I've been following your tutorials since the beggining, and i've progressed a lot due to you, so i just wanted to thank you, for the time you take to do these videos, and for sharing them for free !
Hey I was wondering what utility you are using to record your screen during the Photoshop demo. I've been looking for a good one for quite some time, and am very interested in what you're using; it's very smooth and clean looking.
