  • Also, Japanese Makoto-"Auu"

    English Makoto- "ow"

  • @tim2slimjim EXACTLY. I'm glad there's someone out there who can tell the difference..."a-uu" is not the same as "ow".......ouo;;;

  • @SakuraAnime17

    And Japanese Nayuki: Nyuu

    English:......

  • I'm with you on the dub thing. There are only one or two animes I can watch in English dubs. And Kanon is definitely NOT one of them. I tried to watch it dubbed, but it nearly made my ears bleed.

    Us silly Americans don't know how to voice certain characters and it pisses me off sometimes. Like really? That's the voice you thought she should have? You suck.

    I'm going back to subs.

  • @tim2slimjim Yep...honestly, I made this video so long ago that there are things even I don't like about it anymore, but every time I get a comment like this I'm glad I still have it up ^^' People all have their own opinions, and I respect that, but I can't help feeling encouraged when someone agrees with me on this particular subject x'D So thank you, and I hope you keep watching my videos in the future! :)

  • I say that real anime watchers watch subs but i don't have a problem with dubs well....... my sister watched the sailor moon dub and it was horrible! I'm glad that other people like subs better and that they don't have to have every thing english!

  • Seems fine to me.

  • I hate having to explain this....Everyone has their own opinions. Personally, I like dubs better because it's better to understand the dialogue by just listening to the voices rather than having to constantly pause the video to read the subs in case you missed something.

    Remember this wise saying: Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one and they all stink.

  • @NagisaFTW

    If you can't read the subs without pausing it, you need to learn to read faster. I can read subs perfectly fine, unless it's like, the three people talking at once thing.

  • admittedly i dont like english ayu's uguu's but other than that her voice is pretty good

  • Thanks unlike Clannad im watching this in subs.

  • @EhlekCoolDude Haha no problem; glad I could help~ ;D

  • I feel you on the dubs...straight up garbage! smh...but 4:31 had me dyin..."I think that's enough of that." Enough of the dubs, all right. lmao

  • @valumni Yeah, I had pretty much the same reaction...lol, I've never been a huge dub fan, but Kanon's especially was one of the worst...o.o I'm thinking of doing a Clannad After Story dub/sub video too, but with less of the ruthless bashing on all angles cuz really, Ushio wasn't terrible, and I will freely admit that I'm very impressed with Fuko's english voice. It was Tomoya's dub actor I have a major problem with; he's just...awful -.- I swear, the guy can't express emotion to save his life...

  • @SakuraAnime17 I finally finished watching Kanon a week or so ago (Took me about two years...I kept getting sidetracked and never finished, so I had to start over). You'd recommend Clannad? I Was thinking of giving it a try, but after this emotional journey Kanon took me through, I need a breather. lol.

  • @valumni Clannad and Clannad After Story, absolutely. I recommend it without any hesitation :3 I'll warn you, though; if you think Kanon 2006 was an emotional journey, Clannad is...even more so. It was made by Key, just as Kanon was, so it has the same sort of style--humor at the beginning of an arc that gradually leads into intense emotional turmoil. If you do watch it, make sure you watch both seasons; they're both amazing. And I'd also recommend it in subs, of course, but that's up to you. ;3

  • @SakuraAnime17 psh! It's not even a question. Subs all the way! ^_^

  • @valumni Alright! That's the spirit! xD LOL

  • Still like dubs.

  • @Jakob1029 Well, to each his own~ ;3

  • 0:57 - 1:03 XDDDDD <3 and lol "Nyuuuu" "DON'T 'NYUUU' ME!" XDDDDD looool I loved watching this anime. it has it's funny parts and to be honest, I love the english dubs XDD

  • K, no matter what you do... Third Person is going to sound weird in English.

    Just be grateful that they didn't take it out.

  • @soexcitingg To be perfectly honest, I wish they had. Third person just doesn't work in english, and it makes Sayuri look like a five year old (something this dub seems to love doing to nearly all of the girl characters, actually...) I know it's an important part of her storyline, but if they must do a dub, they could have come up with something similar that wouldn't make her sound stupid. "Sayuri's name is Sayuri." Come on...^^;;

  • Lol ur a meany poo poo head meany meany meany!!!

  • @xXPaperheartzXx ..*cringe* ^^;

  • @GUNTHERP7 Sayuri!!! I LOVE SAYURI!!! XDDD <3 <3 *huggles Sayuri* Actually, I pretty much love all the girls in this anime, but Sayuri got NINJA CHOPPED BY MAI XDDD Lol and THANK YOU, I felt the need to express my EXTREME opinion through a SLIGHTLY opinionated video.......XD

  • not to mention that subs are just translations, and that you get essentially the same thing with dubs (except that dubs require work unless subs which are shat out in a few hours, so dubs are usually more accurate), except you read it instead of hear it and you dont even know the language, good job dumbasses

    i cant believe how retarded you all are

    btw the argument about live action being dubbed is not valid, all cartoons are dubbed QED go fuck your own dicks dumbasses

  • @TheRageGamer Okay, that kind of language really isn't necessary, now is it?

    I see no need to try and justify my reasons for liking subs in the comments page. That's kinda what the video is for. If you disagree with it, that's fine, but don't act like a troll. ;p

  • also why would you nerds prefer subs? is it because it's more authentic, or accurate? bad news it isn't, it's the same shit except instead of hearing shit (you know this is a fucking show made past the era of silent movies) you read it. the authentic version, reading it and not knowing emphasis or subtlety because you dont know the fucking language

    if you think it's because all dubs suck, then that's valid (i disagree with you up and down), it's stupid as SHIT but at least that's valid. fuck you

  • is this video pro dub? is the problem that they sound almost like real people? the japanese version they sound like soulless voice actors/actresses doing a pure cliche character with like no emotion or personality

    i honestly dont know why you compared the shit you did, if any non anime nerd (IE a real human) saw this would immediately go for the dub because they almost sound like people

    you actually complained about them downplaying shitty ass catchphrases instead of real dialogue unbelievable

  • I'm normally a dub person myself but I also like to watch a series subbed as well. But I do believe that you would have a very strong case if you compared the Clannad dub vs sub.

    It's one of the few examples were the sub version is far superior to the dub. So much so that I hope Clannad gets a re-dub in the future and that they choose not to dub After Story.

  • @ksjhawk21 I was hoping to do Clannad next, actually. The only problem with that is that I haven't seen much of the dub, whereas I know the Kanon 2006 dub and sub very well. It's easier to make a strong case when you know both sides.

  • I've never understood the whole dub vs sub debate. I really think it's stupid but in this case I think it showed that the dub didn't go with cuteness in most of the examples you cited. I've always felt the English VA's for Kanon were very strong. I think you'd have a stronger argument if you did this with really good scenes from the anime. Compare those because there are a few that are better in JP and a few that work better in EN.

  • @ksjhawk21 As for Kanon, I thought it provided even better examples than Clannad did, with the catchphrases, Sayuri's 3rd person talk, Mai adding -san at the end of animals, the boku/watashi debate--I don't know of any real arguments against the Clannad dub except that the voices and pronunciation are horrendous.

  • With the invention of Dvds, Dubs and Subs have always been a choice. I you don't like dubs you can always switch to Subs vice versa. I don't see how dubs pose a problem or anything. If it was a few years ago with vhs instead of dvd then maybe, but these days people should have nothing to complain about. Oh and by the way anyone is watching it online for free instead of buying it legally, then they have no right to complain.

  • I thought Yuichi was funnier in the dubbed version

  • @ThisLabTop916 I'll admit the dubbed Yuuichi had some really funny lines. But he wasn't nearly as good in the more emotional scenes. I thought subbed Yuuichi matched the different moods a lot better (AND he was funny). Just my opinion~ :3

  • @SakuraAnime17 your right about that he couldn't emote as well as the subbed one. What did you think about the other Key animes Subbed or dubbed

  • @ThisLabTop916 Definitely subbed. I pretty much just watch all subs in general, because I like them better even if the dubs are decent, but I personally don't like the Key dubs at all. I thought the Kanon 2006 one provided the best examples so I used them. ^^

  • @SakuraAnime17 agreed

  • Ok, so that's ONE show where subs were better, plus there are plenty of good dubbed series out there: Hell Girl, Gurren Lagann, Code Geass, Spice and Wolf, etc.

  • @DMcI123 eh. i didn't like the hell girl dubbed that much either. some episodes were better than others. but it wasn't terrible ^^ (idk about those other 3, i haven't seen them yet)
