Hey...Does anyone know?...I've heard that Brian uses a Shilling for a guitar pick when playing his famous red homemade guitar(shown here). I"m sure that a coin was not used on acoustic songs like "Love of My Life", "39"... Also, gotta love the spider webs on Brians vest
@3eyedho cause if you sing for one or two hours and you sing all those high chest voice notes you will have problems singing falsetto notes after a while. Try it out. The voice gives up hehe
I'll have to take your word for it, as my vocal teaching friend said the same thing. Too bad. I love is falsetto work on songs like Leave it in the lap of the Gods, etc. Outstanding!
Because it's not his usual voice (therefor it's more difficult to sing) and because it's a live concert, where the singer has to manage to preserve as much of his/her voice power during the whole concert as possible. It's not the same when sining in a studio - there it's only one song and besides - if your voice gets "tired" , you can rest, which - as I'm sure you'll agree - is not a good idea to do on stage in front of couple of tens of thousands of people. ;)
que bien roger hizo este tema . freddie debio de estar muy orgulloso de el ! queen la mejor banda del jodido mundo entero ! y freddie el mejor singer !
@Queeniac21 Rock Montreal is PERFECTION. It's literally sooo good that I think it's the best live performance of any band ever in the course of history.
first time I heard of Queen I was watching wayne's world where they were singing along to Bohemium Rhapsody in the car at the opening of the movie. No one can sing like Freddie Mercury, then and now. .
does everyone have to pretend to be an expert?? talking about who hit what notes? shut up and enjoy him. On his worst day he'd sound better than any of us
Oh yes, Freddie ruined his voice too :( that's the reason why he couldn't reach the high notes like before. For example in Bohemian Rhapsody when he sings "...so you think you can love me and leave me to die..." that he sings a C5 note.
Actually no. First the C5 note isn't at that part. The C5 is done by Roger during the end of the opera part. It is also not done live because they don't do only one show. They did shows roughly every other night, most of the time they would run well over three hours. On tours lasting six months or more, singing three hours every other night, a lot of notes are cut down, NO singer can do that over that duration and be successful. Axl Rose, for instance, tried and failed. Listen to him now.
The amazing Roger Taylor!!!!!!!!!!!!! He has a great voice but it's not the same voice that he had between 1973-1976, he did the greatest falsettos in the world, but he ruined his voice by smoking. So i will never smoke, and it's bad to smoke if you are a singer.
There is nothing wrong with Roger's voice. The vocal change was a deepening from countertenor to tenor which happens to all singers in later life. Freddie for instance fought towards the end from falling from a tenor to a baritone.
Maybe when they mixed the audio for the recording, the audience mics were turned down lower? Sometimes they'll do that, but it doesn't mean the audience wasn't making a lot of noice. However you are partly right, the audience at this gig wasn't terribly exciting, Freddie even notes this later in the show...
Roger and Brian talk about it on the BluRay commentary. The arena they were in was very iron-fisted with controlling crowds because of issues they had had in the past.
You missed the bit at the beginning where Freddie says "If you guys want to move around and shift your asses a little it's OK by us... you can take all your clothes off if you like too, doesn't matter,"
John and Roger start to play Under Pressure and Freddie tells them to "f**k off" before starting Killer Queen.
FREDDIE ur really missed by people who loves the voice behind a wonderful compositions. That's why ur a genius Freddie Mercury. I wish there's a revival of Queen's songs sung by Freddie Mercury with modern sounds and in DVD.
Roger's voice wasn't very good in this, i've heard much better performances of this song from him. The best example i think is on that CD that came with a newspaper that contained recordings of a Queen concert in 1979 and recordings of the We Will Rock You musical. The CD itself has been advertised on TV and is very good. Almost as good as live aid, but i think it is this song and how well Roger sang it that made it as good as it is.
I said 'also'. With that I mean there is so much talent in one single band. Freddie, Brian and Roger can all sing angelic (I don't know about Deacon).
QUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i love you !!!!!!
Whats not fantastic about Queen? The fact that they had to "split" far too early. on the other hand: who knows what would have become out of them during the 90ies?!
Its a shame no one was able to find out, imagine how great they could have been then too, though they were already amazing, that was a basic dream team, all of the were the best of the best in what they could do
Roger's voice is epic as well. At the start of the second song, it sounds like his voice is starting up, like an engine, in a song about a car! I wonder if thats what he was thinking when he wrote it..!
once again i must ask, why, with both roger and brian having excellent voices did they choose boring old Paul Rogers, I know Freddie thougth he was good, but ol' freddie couldn't have had any idea how bad mr. rogers (and not the good one) would bleed their songs of any feeling.
Yes they were! Queen were definitely one of the better live acts to see in the 70's - I liked early Queen they were much more heavier! Their first 4 albums are classic's! I just recently picked up an excellent copy of their 77 show on DVD (bootleg) from Earl's Court! It is a fantastic show & a great bootleg DVD! This show is definitely worth getting & when you see it you will understand why they were one of the greatest live bands ever!
When you buy a car and drive in it for the first time with a friend, crank up this song.
