  • This video has helped. :) The ram I'm getting is supposed to be 1600mhz, but I've read people having the mobo read it as 1333 and having to set it up in bios. This will help me do that if necessary.

  • WARNING: Overclocking can damage your computer component as you are taking risk to overload, overheat CPU, RAM etc. I have seen cases where machines started to heat so much that internal little component started to die. IF you have good cooling system then it is worth doing it otherwise don't. ALSO some waranties do not cover OverClock and invalid your Waranty so make sure you know what you are doing. NICE VIDEO by the way.

  • Hello Chanaman, I have bought a computer with 1 GB RAM DDR2 and preinstalled Vista 32 Bit. I upgraded to Win7 and tried to put 1GB RAM DDR2 more (So 2x1GB not same manufacter). The motherboard has only 2 slots for memory.Anyway after I installed the second memory the computer gone mad, Never booted normaly. On My Computer says that the RAM is 2GB, and after 2 minutes the PC stacks and needs shut down (remove electricity cable, no other way) and remove the extended RAM to work normally again!

  • @DJVolFraNOfficial you should put thesame RAM. do not put a RAM that is not thesame or it will KILL you PC. ^_^

  • wouldn't it be okay to just make sure your motherboard manual shows the type of memory you buy is accepted, and once installed leave it as is?

  • Hey guys I wanna make sure this is correct. I have 1600mhz mem but cpu says its 1333. So I go in bios change mem to 1600, then enter in correct dram voltage (1.65) and it will be 1600? And doing it this way will prevent me from taking the mem clock above stock by increasing the fsb for overclocking? Good think im getting black edition right?

  • @mast3rmgl oh yah and enter stock timings?

  • @mast3rmgl should work fine, if it doesnt boot after adjusting thoes settings you might have to up the fsb of the cpu and vcore voltages to reach your target frequency

  • tanks bro.helped me alot.

  • Can it damage the rams sry on my bad eng

  • @hacker19730 Yes overclocking RAM can damage it.

  • how many computers were harmed during the making of this film??

  • I must have fucked up my bios somewhere as I have the same kind of start-up sceen.

Not sure if I can overclock 'cuz it's a crappy Vista computer with a stock fan(?)

  • Thanks for the vid.

  • What was the song at the beginning of the video?

  • @mohammedrun Green Day - American Idiot

  • F1 , F2 or del to enter it not all is same but its one of this 3

  • how would i do this on 32 bit vista?

i got into the bios but barely had anything to toogle with

  • holy fuck the intro music scared me

  • @dskater99

    hehe same :D

  • Good video, thanks you very much!

  • i have windows xp 32 bit.. i bought 4gb ram, but i can only see 3328 from the windows settings.. so the problem is win xp 32 and it cant reach 4gb?

  • @ttarkus 32 wont go to far than 3.5. it can only 3.5GB it will ignore the extra memory

  • i Installed 2gb stick on my laptop and it has a 1gb stick pre instaled and in bios only my 1gb is showing helpp meee plzz

  • My CPU is at 58 celcius without the overclock and I have a liquid cooling system

  • how to enter bios?

  • Chris, That was so cool! You made it look so easy! Keep it up and excellent vid!

  • i have 512 mb how much can i overclock it

  • GREEN DAY FTW!! btw good video

  • while i start my pc i press ESC then enter bios info but i havent got this options

  • Thnx man this helped me alot with overclocking my Kingston ram to 1600!!

  • stupid music

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thx dude :D

  • Can you overclock a

    G.Skill ddr2 800 mhz to 2800 mhz ???

  • great song at the beginning, who does it? So i have this bios and i have to press ctr f1 to get to advanced chipset features but none of the other options are there other than cpu overclock settings

  • how do you tell if your ram is getting too hot?

  • you can explain very well, thank you for your exellent video!

  • will 1.8v affect WOW crashes?

so do i increase the voltage to 2.1?

  • i have DDR PC2100 ram. I have 2 sticks of ram one with 256MB and 512MB what do i do please help. i am planning on getting 2 sticks of 1GB ram so that i can replace my current sticks with 2GB Ram please help

  • This is an excellent video! Thanks! I'm thinking about purchasing the GSkill dual channel ddr3 1600... rated at 1.5v 9-9-9-24... thinking about bumping the volts to 1.7 or 1.8 and setting the timing to 8-8-8-21. I wanna try to get that 1600 that it says its capable of, so I'll probably change the memory clock to 200 Mhz along with the I/O bus clock speed of 800Mhz.

  • i have 1.8ghz 512mb of ram running xp,but my bios system is older than yours...how to overclocked it and doesn't it risky to overclocked?thanks!

  • I recently installed 1x 2GB of RAM to my already existent 2x 1GB RAM but for some reason in System Information it says 4.00 GB (2.00 GB usable). I checked BIOS and it says that my total memory is 4 GB. So what can i do to be able to use 3.5 GB since thats all Win 7 32 bits supports. Thanks!

  • 32 bit O.S only can read up to 3.5 of memory. Cause it is locked at that. If you have a 64 bit O.S you have have as much ram as you want and it would still read all of it. You can have 12 GB of ram and it would read all of it in a 64 bit O.S

  • @chanaman12345 you can have 192gb and it will still read it. 192 is the limit

  • @chanaman12345

It's not "locked" at 3.5 GB, it's a memory adressing limitation for 32 bit OS's.

  • @DarkShade260 you can use the russian patcher, i have 5 gb and it works. unawave. de/windows-7-tipps/32-bit-ram-barrier html?lang=EN

  • I have 2 x 2GB but my PC x64 windows 7 only shows 2 GB.. I have a GIGABYTE GA-EP43-UD3L any ideas on how to get the full 4?

  • Are you sure the ram is installed all the way? Where are you reading how much ram you have?

  • Yes its installed all the way.. clipped on right and there really is only one way to place ram.. It says I only have 2GB and I have 2 X 2GB on there I really have no idea whats wrong with it.. I have put another 2 X 1GB Then It says I have 4.. Witch I should have six.. I don't understand it.. any ideas?

  • Sorry for taking so long, holidays and being busy. Anyways, you might of gotten 2X 1GB sticks in stead of 2X 2GB sticks. That's the only thing i can think of.

  • Haha, no. I know what i buy and I know more then enough about hardware to know if it's 2 GB each, see now i have installed 6 GB and it is only showing 4GB. i have yet to find a answer to my quesion.

  • Well i would say try google or bing, lol. But try using the Ram you have in another computer to see if the problem still occurs. Not saying this is what the problem is but it has happen before where people bought 2GB sticks and the label says 2GB on it but it was a 1GB stick cause of a mix up in a company.

  • no it is 2 GB each they work on my fathers computer so i don't know... it's just a pain in the rear end. i have look in every search engine thought up with NO answers.

  • @chanaman12345 physical memory and kernel memory

  • if your running 32 bit it may only show 4 in your os. if its in your bios you got screwed

  • The Ram sticks were 1GB even thou they were labled 2..

  • @Park0ur4life Maybe your computer has a limit for ram. Lke my computer i tried install 4 gb ram but only let me have 2gb

  • @Park0ur4life

If you're running a 32 bit OS, then that's your problem. Upgrade to a 64 bit OS and your problem should be fixed.

  • @Park0ur4life if you have a 32 bit system, the amount of ram is limited to 4GB. But if you have a 64 bit, there is no limit.

  • @Park0ur4life 32 bit versions of windows can read 4 GB's, 64 bit versions of windows can read over a trillion GB's

  • @markman090 I know. I found that the Ram that i have is labeled wrong. It says 2 on each ram stick but its really 1.

  • @Park0ur4life What programm you have windows 7 32 bit or 64 bits ?

Coz if 32 bits you can only update memory until 4 gb ram but with 64 bits you can until 12

  • @Park0ur4life

If you got a 32 bit Operating System, then it's only logical.

A 64 bit OS should support 6 Gigs, though.

  • @dsgamez It should support much more then 6GB RAM on a 64 bit OS, if yours only support 6GB RAM, I feel pretty sorry for you :c

  • @Park0ur4life

i may be able to help. On windows XP it only supports 4gb of ram. so if u maybe get Windows 7 or something, if u already are, sorry i can't help you.

  • @Park0ur4life I'm not 100% sure but I think you need a 64 bit operating system to be able to run over 4gb on your system.

  • @Park0ur4life I'm not 100% sure but I think you need a 64 bit OS to be able to over 4gb on a system.

  • @Park0ur4life if you have a 32-bit system it can't go over 4 GB but you can go as far as the motherboard allows with 64-bit

  • @Park0ur4life i know exactly whats wrong, you only have a 32-bit operating system right? well if you do you should know that any 32-bit system can only have a maximum of 4gb of memory NO MATTER how much your motherboard can support or how much you actually have. Now if you do have a 64-bit system, then it can support up to 128 gb of ram and if that's the case then i don't know what your problem is

  • @Park0ur4life I know this is an old question, but if you're using a 32bit OS it will only recognize 4GB. You need a 64bit OS to be able to use all 6GB.

  • @wibrle there other way ..... my pc run at 4gb with 32 bit full ,as i change abit ... remove some of watermark. and "voila" i have 4gb in 32 bit ( 4096) See my video

  • @Park0ur4life Your using a 32 bit system, 64 bit will unlock more, but it depends what OS you use on 64. If you want like 120g in ram get vista ultimate ;), no kidding!

  • @Park0ur4life Hi Mate, Windows uses a certain amount of Mem, and the Mem it uses dose not appear in your software, IE I have 4 gigs and it only shows 3.5 gigs in win 764bit so My pc is using half a gig on system resources,

    Maybe that's your problem

  • @Park0ur4life i guess you must have windows 32-bit version... right click on my computer and then click properties. If it says 32-bit then ur outta luck cuz 32-bit supports only till 2GB ram.. nothin more than that.. for 2 x 2 gb ram.. You must have windows-64 bit

  • Where I read it MSINFO32 I don't see where on my BIOS to see it.. its invisible as well there.. lol

  • This is exactly what I needed to know.

    Thanks bro.

  • just womdering i got celeron proc 900 3g ram intel chipset if i overclock my ram will my game run more faster and better frame rate? help me any 1

  • thats a nice monitor , till the capacitors leak just after the 3 year warranty

  • ugh! ma brains!

  • cool thanks man!!!!

  • This helped greatly

  • "whats 128 bit? things opperate faster!"

  • hey i have a packard bell 5094 any overclocking tips??? i dont no how to enter the overclock setting i know how to overclock

  • how do you pausebreak it?

  • lol i just looked on my keyboard and see a button that says "Pause Break" XD

  • press the pause break character on ur keyboard

  • I have the same bios as you, (phoenix award 6.00pg), but it doesn't have the meny with the fsb settings.

  • HELP can u overclock a fan? cuz my cpu is getting hot anytime, sometimes the pc shuts down cuz it get so hot...

  • um, no???. you can turn the fan speed up though. Depends on what fan your talking about. Exhaust fan? intake, side, heatsink, etc etc

  • the cpu fan, u know, the fan on top of the cpu....

  • Buy new cpu cooler!

  • No Dumbass If Your CPU Is Getting too Hot

    Drop Your Overclocks

    OR You Screwed Your CPU

    Oh And 39 40 C Tems Isn't Hot

  • na is allright, btw i never ovrclok it...it just was rong so y bought a new on thks btw.

  • EPIC fail

    "can u overclock a fan?"

    idiot

  • help me plz ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

  • yh man aight i used to do it at my old motherboard , it waz FOXCON , now i hv a new1 but i dont kno how to do it i hv a GIGABYTE MOTHERBOARD , can u plz help me !??!?

  • Hello, is it possible to do so my system can see my ram. cus i got 2x 2 gb ram sticks wich is 4 gb ram and my graphic card gives 2256 mb ram.. but my ssytem can only see 4 gb ram can u do so it can see more ? cus normal ram should be araound 6-7 gb.. thanks!

  • Your system will only see 4GB if you have 2x2GB. VRAM (video ram, from graphic cards) dont count as actual RAM in a PC. they are different things.

also, im pretty sure no graphic card can give 2256MB ram at the moment.

  • ati just released one

  • I found this video very helpful TY

  • Hey i have a question, i just bought a 780i motherboard and im trying to overclock my Q6600 to 3.6ghz. I upped the voltage as high as I can go without damage and it runs for a little bit but restarts randomly and will only run Prime95 for a few minutes until restart. My temps are fine, i also bought a Zalman 9700 Heatsink and a Corsair TX 750 Watt PSU and 4GB OCZ HPC PC-800 Memory. SO it should run fine. I personally think its memory timings but i dont know alot about memory overclocking. HELP!!

  • Dude when i over clocked my CPU i set the voltage to auto so i dont screw it up and it works fine i think u should do that too

  • what is standard temps for ram with razorblade heatsinks?

  • i have kingston value ram Bus 800 CL6 2GBx2 ... i overclocked it to 1066 with stock voltage .... and way to get it to CL5 stable?

  • can i do this with a laptop

  • I just got 1066mhz ram and on the box it says 2.2v should i put the voltage to 2.2v?

  • Hello, very nice video. I have ocz 4gb ram 2x2 gb and on the site and on box it says its 1066 mhz. I'm running them in dual channel, in bios it says dram frequency 800mhz. In cpu-z, i dont know why it says pc2 6400 - 400mhz. Is this really 400mhz or it is 800mhz because of dual channel. And i know i have to increase voltages for 1066mhz, my voltages are 1.8v, but in my bios i dont understand how to increase them it says +5mv, +10mv,+15mv etc. Do u know how many +mv i need for 1066mhz?

  • I'm not sure what mobo your running, but the voltage of your ram in goes in different increments. like 1.8, 1.825, 1.9. 2.0, 2.2, etc etc so i'm not sure what the millivolts your talking about. For the ram Mhz, mine says 5300 in cpu-z but in bios i have 1066. so i don't know whats going on with cpu-z. as long as it reads right in bios, you should be fine.

  • Good video, and I have a few questions. Lets say I have a laptop with a decent 512 megabytes of ram that I want to overclock to 1 gigabyte to run Windows 7 Beta. I meet the requirements this way, and then all I would need to do is get a bigger hard disk.

The thing is, I don't recall seeing those options in the BIOS, or anything even remotely similar.

Is there a software solution (within Windows or otherwise) that can modify this as well?

    Thanks!

  • Um, thats not overclocking dude, its the mhz your overclocking, not the amount of memory you have, if you want 1GB you have to upgrade your ram. 512 is 512 1GB is 1GB. every motherboard, computer etc etc are different and to my knowledge i don't know of any "normal" laptop giving you that option to overclock your ram.

  • Well, I guess we're learning something new every day, aren't we?

I guess I'll just need to upgrade. Thanks for your advice!

  • you can't overclock the amount of RAM. Let's get something straight. byte(b),kilobyte(kb),megabyte(mb),gigabyte(gb),and terabyte(tb) are all amounts of data. hertz(Hz),kilohertz(KHz),megahertz(MHz), and gigahertz(GHz) are all speeds of RAM. overclocking refers to increasing the speeds of RAM, it is not possible to 'increase amount' in such a case.

  • I couldn't say it any better.

  • What ram you got

  • hey man i got my ramt o 1066 but it still shows it as being 64bit not 124bit? any suggestions?

  • actually its 128-bit. Are they matching sticks? are they in the right ram slot? if you want dual channel you have to have it in the right spot. Example- they're 4 slots, 2 blue and 2 black, make sure they have in the same colored slot. if not colored, try the first slot close to the cpu and the 2nd slot or 1st slot and 3rd slot or 2nd slot and 4th slot

  • yes they are matching stick and are in the same colored slots

  • nevermind i got it, changed it to ganged to unganged to get it to 128bit.

  • Ganged?

  • "Ganged = dual channel mode for ram. All cores get access to 100% of the ram.

unganged = single channel. Each core gets access to a stick of ram.

In theory, the unganged mode is better as each core will get access to data quicker."

  • I need help big time! I want to overclock my OCZ DDR2 800 SLI Certified memory up to 1066 but i can't do it, it's 2 days now....I need a Complete and Brief instructions on how to do it

  • hey. hope you read this. my mhz is 667.. can i overclock it to higher clock speed?

  • If your familiar with overclocking, then yeah. if not, don't mess with it

  • Good vid.

But also, all I've ever tried overclocking is my CPU mhz.

but I did it without looking at tutorials, I didn't muck anything up luckly, I was on the brim of mucking it up though.

    I was able to overclock my Celeron D 356 3.33GHz to 3.75GHz.

but 3.50GHz is what I use so I can play games properly stable.

It has made a massive difference.

  • Hey chanaman12345!

I saw your great video about how to adjust your overclocked Rams in BIOS but I still need some help ( Im a big noob :D). I have DFI ultra-D lanparty motherboard which is great for overclocking. This mobo supports DDR266, DDR333 and DDR400 DDR SDRAM DIMM. Comment is continuing down.

PS: Sry for double posting u dont need to display my comment here u can just PM

  • I was using SuperTalent (2x512) PC3200 400mhz until I got Crosair (2x512) CMX PC3700 466mhz from my friend. CPUZ program is telling me that my Rams are currently running at 200mhz speed but I want to know if is there any possibility to adjust them to a factory 233mhz? Do I need to change other settings first like fronside bus and multipliers or I need just simply type 466 (or their actual speed which is 233?) in the gap like you have done in your video?

I hope u could help me. Bye

  • My ram needs a voltage of 2.1 but my motherboard can only do 2.00 and 2.13. Are these okay?

  • I don't know what mobo you have, but you should be able to get 2.1. and what ram are you using?

  • what happens if my motherboard doesnt have a fsb and memory config option, then there is no way that i can change the ram speed?

  • no unless you use a program like clock gen.

  • ok so first is changing the timings, then coltage then finally the MHz to 1066...u'r help is much appreciated...lol did u ever fix ur viewsonic...i have a vx724 and the thing that was wrong with it was that it kept going on and off...the problem is 3 capacitor caps that bulge up on the inside..if u replace those it should work again...their on the dvi/analog board!

  • great review...i got one question though...i just bought 2x2GB PC8500 of corsair dominator memory at 1066MHz...now out of the box and once installed they operate at 800MHz so u have to do wat u talked about in the video to get it to 1066Mhz...my question is do u have to do it in certain steps when cahnging the MHz, timings and voltages?

  • yeah, they're thing you would have the change...

Example-If your timing is 5-5-5-15 change it to that manually, then if the voltage of your ram is 2.2 change it to that, and change your Mhz from 800 to 1066 to run at 1066 properly

  • omg 1600 on your fsb omg lol on a 680i thaats crazy for me congrats im in 1333 in my 750i

  • I have a MSI 680i P6N Diamond MotherBoard and My bios is a little different but It wont let me change my DRAM and my VCORE they are like locked and I can't fined out how to unlock them

  • Same here with my P7N platinum...

  • I said in the video every motherboard is different

  • I said in the video every motherboard is different

  • i cant OC my RAM. it was 1333mhz ddr3 default and it goes back to 850mhz, like wtf. i got it up to 1332mhz last night but i changed some settings and it wont boot, so now i have to run it at 850mhz again. my Asus p5e3 deluxe has NOTHING like wat this guy has for his RAM settings, asus sux for ram OC! I have OC'd my q6600 to 3ghz, maybe thats y i cant OC? i only have stock sinks on my Corsair 2x1GB ddr3 1333mhz o i dont wanna touch the voltage, its default was at Auto. pleas help me in OC my RAM.

  • You have to make sure the cpu and ram aren't linked...unlink it and you can get your ram at the correct Mhz..mine without going into bios is 667. and i have to manually change it to 1066

  • yee thats what i thought i had to do, but i can't, there is no option for it on Asus mobo's, at least the loads of one's i've seen.

  • hey can you help me? i pressed deleat and my system crashed...

  • You need to reset your bios.

  • cool... does this works on my Asus BIOS?

on my old computer i got a BIOSTAR it looks like yours tho... that one is the prefect thing to overclock... so about CPU overclocking how will i know how to get my Motherboard's PLL? because im using ClockGen... i set the wrong PPL and PC got stupid... so i turned it off... XD

  • hey man i dont see anywhere in my bios where i can overclock my ram? i got a verrrry old computer (6 years old) and the ream that i have is DDR? so is it even possible that i can overclock it cause my bios doesnt look like mine at all....

  • Does, that Mhz change increase your mobo's support for speed of RAM, or does it increase the Memory you have in the mobo.

  • i enter the setup utility

  • it seems like your new to overclocking...so if you don't know what your doing.."don't do it"

  • i get into my phoenix bios setup when i press f2 but when i press del it just beeps.how do i get to the blue screen area?i have an acer aspire 5100 laptop plz help

  • well you just said when you press f2 it takes you to the blue screen area...so its must be f2 for you then

  • well i cant overclcok anything there.

  • well its a laptop...so you probably can't overclock anything then and i take it, its not a gaming laptop, so you can't do any overclocking on laptops

  • DO NOT OVERCLOCK UR PC

  • your not really overclocking the pc, your adjusting the Mhz of your ram if you get DDR2 1066 when the standard is 800 for example. and to the correct timing

  • 5 out of 5 excellent video

  • what cpu are you running it looks like it said 6400+ mhz is that an overclocked pent 4 single core?

  • POST says:

    Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU 3.20GHz

    The mathematics:

    3200 x 2 = 6400

  • its a dual core, both running at 3.2 and the bios sees it as 6.4Ghz. 3.2+3.2= 6.4

  • greenday...sucks

  • I'm sorry...

  • do you even have anything nice to say?

  • ya i know "get the fuck out!" is what i say when ever i hear that trash band

  • agreed. such a shitty band.

  • can we stick with the topic of the video?

  • I've got 800MHz ram overclocked to 850MHz timings, 5-5-5-12.

  • easyest way to kill ram so dont do it if you dont know what your doing

  • if you have 1066 ram, i would say change it to 1066...but it is a good tip, if your not 100% sure...don't do it...just read up on it ALOT!!!

  • Another good video by Chanaman12345

  • I quote.

    Good "tutorial"
