  • this helped me out a lot for my 2D animation class thanks!

  • I completely understand, my Microphone ate my Dog!! LOL!!

  • aw, I hate it when that happens lol

  • Very nice Alicia :D That sux your dog messed up your mic. I rather have that audio quality then my cameras audio quality! lmao :D Very awesome tutorial as always ;)

  • Another awesome tut.

  • I never knew about the magnetic tool. Basically you can use the magnetic tool if there are 2 distinct colors. It will dilineate between the 2 colors as you are making the selection.

Now Alicia, I have a "?" with respect to restoring a selection: @ around the 3 min 51 sec mark, you stated that if you didn't hit the "shift" key when making a 2nd selection, it will automatically deselect the previous seleciton. What if you make that error & do that: How did you restore the previous selection?

  • Hit CTRL + Z to undo once.

    OR

While holding CTRL+ALT tap 'Z' as many times as you want to undo multiple times

    Does that make sense?

  • Makes sense. Here is another basic question for you. I'll sound like a retard but only because I'm a novice at the moment. At the 26 sec interval, you had opened the image and "unlocked" the image. Is it always the case, then when you open up an image in CS3/4, you must unlock the image for any kind of editing? I'm sure it sounds stupid but I'm a stupid guy at the moment. =P

Another ? I have is w.r.t. the layers tab: in the layer on the right had side, there is a eye icon. What does it do?

  • No such thing as stupid questions...

    - 99% of the time you want to unlock the image, if you dont, then some tools wont work on the picture and you cant edit it correctly. Unlocking it lets you be able to edit anything in anyway on it.

-The eye icon is the visibilty of that layer. If you click the eye and make it go away, then that layer is invisible, you click it again and the eye appears, resulting in that layer be visible again.

  • Thanks! Regarding the vibility layer eye icon, let's say I make some of the layers disappear by clicking on the eye icon. If I save the image, will I still be able to turn the layers on and off?

In some other programs, if you save an image, the image is optimized and all layers combine automatically into one image again therefore making the function unusable.

  • Thats true if you save it, all the layers combine adn you cannot go back and edit it. But, if you want to be able to go back and edit your image you want to save it as a photoshop (.PSD/.PDD) file. If you save it as a PSD file, then yes you can still click the eye icon on and off, but if its saved as anything else, then you cant do anything ever again to your image

  • Thanks Alicia. Your channel is turning out to be a good tutorial class!

I am certain that I will have more questions in store for you as you post more youtube videos!

Thanks so much for answering all of my questions and being so patient! :)

  • I always wondered how to change the colors of eyes and things. But my eyes are hazel, so what would I do if I wanted to make my eyes a sharp blue like you used with the rest black and white? I'm very new at Photoshop! = D

  • Wow! This is so awesome!!! :D Great tutorial.

  • Nice tutorial! Is a easy thing, but you explained the ways of the lasso, a handy tool indeed...

I never use it much though... Only to create a fade effect with a layer mask... For selections I use the magic wand, but it can get very frustrating xD

Now I'll use the magnetic lasso more often... Thx
