what heigh has the secundary coil? and what AWG wire did you use?? please answer my question im making my first tesla coil and this lokk very good congratulations (sorry for my bad englis)
Would it not be more efficient to A: spiral the primary coil upward around the secondary coil, elongating the magnetic field, and 2: use a iron/ferrite core instead of air thus fortifying the strength of the magnetic field? I'm certain A is correct, but I believe putting iron in the core may just give for more inductive resistance, which wouldn't be so good. Btw, if you run high voltage, high freq ac through your secondary, it would make a sweet inductance heater, provided it doesn't melt itsel
Iron screws up the idea, like a motor its a timing thing.
Primarys field collapses at the very base it induces current, that on each wind induces current on the next until the top where the electrons build on the torid until that gets saturated thats why they use spheres or rings (no points)
Go on google study some theory, and join a forum or 2 .Really not that complected
..What are you using for the capacitor?...I built teslas 50+ years ago as a kid...I used glass and aluminum foil...glass about 6"X8"...20 or so plates...old vibrator type ignition coil...others I see use a distributor with small electric motor turning it.
Excellent presentation! as you know Tesla was not properly recognised for his work (except by Westinghouse) and we owe our modern high voltage transmission lines using his polyphase generators to produce AC,also he was first to demonstrate wireless waves, also known as Wizard of America. Often seen sitting in a Faraday Cage. Peter
I connect the wire from the top of the secondary coil to the toroid by using foil tape. I then thread it through the toroid a few times with the last bit of wire going into the toroid.
in theory could i connect many coils in series to build more current?

@20fireman12 or does a Bipolar tesla coil do that?

How do you build the top part of the coil?

Who has an idea on how to use the tesla coil for wireless transmission of electrical energy efficiently

if you want to see the Tesla coil in action go to 3:19

how much did this cost?

so whats the capacitor for?

The Tesla coil is two coupled LC circuits.

is that legal?

Of course.

What range do you need at least from that thing without damaging your cam?

can i use an ignition coil or a flyback transformer in place of the neon sign transformers?
TheNukewar123 3 months ago
Not sure. NSTs are the best because they are current limited. They're available on ebay.
Wolfgang5600 2 months ago
do both transformers conver to 12k or are they both 6k?
TheChslax31 4 months ago
They're both 12kV 60 mA.

Finally a good explanation. Thanks

when diagrams show the secondary leading to earth would the core of the transformer be the best place to connect it?
mashersmasher 5 months ago
No! Connect that to either a grounding spike or to a large piece of chicken wire mesh that rests underneath the Tesla coil. I use the latter.

is the toroid connected to the secondary coil in any way?
