Every show has a show-stopping number. For example, "Joseph" has "Song of the King", "Little Shop of Horrors" has "Dentist!", "Fiddler on the Roof" has "To Life", "Young Frankenstein" has "Puttin' on the Ritz", et cetera.
The thing about all those listed songs is that they are big, energetic songs. That makes some people think that a show-stopping number has to be like that. "River in the Rain" is a clear counterexample. It is such a beautiful song, and the clear show-stopper in "Big River".
