  • you know......you don't often see two grown men who go out together to do music like this.....it is a little odd, in many ways they seem like teenagers trapped in middle aged men in the way they act and what they do, but you can see the weariness in their personas, like they have been through alot. It is an interesting sound, wistfulness, pain, joy strained through toil, etc. They explain it in their own words at the end of this clip.....I dunno know how I feel about it all right now...

  • Good Luck Mark and Gary great album!

  • Prolly didn't play anything off of "Rainy day.." because Mark Olson was solo then. The last time they were together was "Tomorrow/GreenGrass." That's probably why they didn't play those tunes in L/ville. Just Guessing. These guys are so awesome. I have broken my old Jayhawks CD's back out. Forgot how incredible they were. All I listened to in college.

  • Wow. Timeless.

  • Thanx a lot for this. Such a superb album.

  • Beautiful, beautiful!! I saw them at Tivoli, Utrecht. I hope they will stay together now and make lots of music in the future!

  • I bought the cd when it came out an its so beautiful an awsome i highly recommend it along with all The Jayhawks cds =D

  • Peter,

Saw them the other night on Letterman too. Tried to get tickets to see them at Carnegie Hall tonight. Sold out. Now I WANT to kill myself. Guess they cut both ways. :) Stay healthy.

  • I was at that Zankel Hall show. Pretty decent mix of the new album and the old, pre-'96 stuff. But I WAS disappointed that they would NOT touch ANY Jayhawks material from the post Mark O. era (I soooo wanted to hear "Angelyne"!!!).

But "Blue" as an encore was phenomenal. ;)

BTW; their female conga drummer was most excellent (there was too much cheering/clapping to catch her name when they introduced her).

  • Yeah! I just saw them last Sunday here in Louisville, and wasy praying for something off of Rainy Day Music, but NOTHING!

oh well, still a rockin' show. LOVE THESE GUYS!!!

  • I was just about to commit suicide, and then I stumbled upon this video. Actually, it was the Letterman performance the other night... Hearing these two voices together again fills me with pure joy. I have a reason to live again.

I had some bad shit go down in my life around the time they broke up (ie, when Olson left), and music in my life came to slow, screeching halt. Hearing them together again is like hearing from an old, lost friend. Bless these two men.

  • This is awesome. Thanks

  • It makes me so happy to see these guys back together. It's been too long. This might not be a Jayhawks reunion, but the music sounds so great with Mark & Gary singing together. I turned my wife on to the Jayhawks when we first got together. They shortly became her favorite band. When the Jayhawks broke up you would have thought someone had ran over her pet. She's gonna be so excited to hear about Mark and Gary making a new album. I sincerely hope that they come to the Kansas City area.

  • Great music!
