I haven't played SC2 since I completed the campaign; because of the awefull new battle.net 2.0. (Went back playing WC3 as that game works as intended)
Now I know they put chatrooms back, but how's the other stuff going? Clansupport? Namechange? Lan? showing real names/email? custom games where you can actually play anything else than the most popular? etc...
im totally dissapointed in sc2.Blizzard will never get another dime from me,I guarantee.apparantly,you dont actually buy the game when you hand over 80$ can, your only buying a license to use the game.so when my friend and I got to his house up north,not only were we unable to play head to head,we were not even able to play at all after day 30,leaving us totally screwed for the remaining five weeks after that.seriously,with as much restraint as I can,blizzard can go fuck themselves.

BTW IRC was a fantastic way to set up games, complete cross game chat room freedom, unregulated by the game makers. Just post an IP and password and your playing!

Things may have become better now, but there's still Region-locking online. I live in Sweden and I have friends in USA which I can't play with because of this. I'm never gonna buy a second copy of Starcraft 2 as that's just stupid. Of course, the trick with all this is that no one will notice the Region-locking until they've bought the game, so I don't think Blizzard will lose anything on that. Still, it's really sad to see such a great online system just sink into the depths of a basement.

Okay, I have been a gamer all of my life from Atari to PS3 Wii and 360. I have played every system and even a good bit of PC games. Never really played Starcraft too much, but I loved Diablo 2. Anyway Activision is a bad thing for Blizzard. Activision has ruined EVERY game they have come in contact with. For example COD went from a strategic shooter, but now it's a fucking arcade game. EA is a hell of alot better than Activision. Fuck Activiosn! Blizzard save yourselves and all your customers!!!
You think 60$ for a game is expensive? Try 95$ (or 599 SEK), because that's what most new games cost in sweden. This is because they (the large companies like Activision and EA) know that people will buy their games anyway. Sadly, I think that, in time, prices will rise to these proportions in the US as well...
this is just the beginning of the end. consoles are more profitable so PC games are just going to become more and more like the MUCH inferior console port. why make a superior PC version that you have to dumb down to port to the more popular and profitable console when you could just do less work and make the port easer. :-*( Pour one out fo yo mouse totein homies.
I'm an UMS player. (you might call that "Custom Maps") I created nice maps for Starcraft One, but SC 2 only lets you play about 10 maps. I haven't even opened the map editor because there's no way anything I create will make the top 10 popularity list. I tried hosting a random map (example, a map called Tank Wars) but nobody would join the game. Theres NO listing of the game I host. NONE. Nobody will ever, EVER join unless they go out of their way & search for this map. NOBODY DOES THIS.
@depth386 I absolutely cannot play any custom map other than the top 10 popularity list that shows up by default. Nobody ever joins. Ever. At all. I could host and go afk for 24 hours.
I actually did found a chatchannel, tough it's now 23-2-2011, so it's a 99% chance that I'm just bloody stupid and it got fixed along the way, but for the few of you out there who want to know were it is (people like me who can't find it for some reason...) it's on the down right and then left of the timer.
On the topic of naming the custom games you create on battle.net:
There is an option in the sc2 map editor to create modes.
For the DOTA example this could mean that when you host it, you will be able to choose the all-random-mode in a drop-down-menu next to where you choose race and AI-difficulty. In this way, players will know what "mode" the game will be in before it starts.
You can only choose modes like I described if the map-maker decided to implement any.

I think you're totally right about your points, I've also been playing blizzard game since I was 11 I loved warcraft 2+3, bought it, loved diablo 2, bought it, loved WoW and bought it. my main issues with blizzard now has been the lack of LAN because it's all I did with diablo2 and having to buy several copies of the game just to play it with friends outside of the country for WoW.
The way Warcraft III is setup is perfect, LAN + able to play with ppl outside country.

If they (Activision) starts screwing with World of Warcraft(Adds, Servers, etc.), I will be pretty Nerdragin'. I love Starcraft, SC-Broodwar, and SC2, and I've been playing WoW since Vanilla (currently playing Cataclysm.) I agree with Husky that Activision is basically a quantity over quality kind of group, and I hope to god that they don't put adds in SC2 or WoW, because it gets SO annoying. The only way to play a map that is on the bottem of the custom games list is to invite
people, the only way to do this is to go into a different map and try to pull people out of it before it starts, and half the time it fills up to fast and the map auto starts, and then ontop of this the people that joined to play that specific map are like no i dont want to leave to play a map ive never heard of. Playing the same old maps is boring as hell!!!!

EA changed his policy few years back, now they're not pushing release dates anymore and they're giving us quality games : ME3,SW:TOR etc...
and about pushing release dates: ME3 delayed no problem, along with other games, and new Sports Games are having new Features.
BF3 is giong to rule the FPS section because Activision was pushing the MW3 and it has nothing new to offer

this is just the beginning of the end. consoles are more profitable so PC games are just going to become more and more like the MUCH inferior console port. why make a superior PC version that you have to dumb down to port to the more popular and profitable console when you could just do less work and make the port easer. :-*( Pour one out fo yo mouse totein homies.

I'm an UMS player. (you might call that "Custom Maps") I created nice maps for Starcraft One, but SC 2 only lets you play about 10 maps. I haven't even opened the map editor because there's no way anything I create will make the top 10 popularity list. I tried hosting a random map (example, a map called Tank Wars) but nobody would join the game. Theres NO listing of the game I host. NONE. Nobody will ever, EVER join unless they go out of their way & search for this map. NOBODY DOES THIS.

On the topic of naming the custom games you create on battle.net:
There is an option in the sc2 map editor to create modes.
For the DOTA example this could mean that when you host it, you will be able to choose the all-random-mode in a drop-down-menu next to where you choose race and AI-difficulty. In this way, players will know what "mode" the game will be in before it starts.
You can only choose modes like I described if the map-maker decided to implement any.

I think you're totally right about your points, I've also been playing blizzard game since I was 11 I loved warcraft 2+3, bought it, loved diablo 2, bought it, loved WoW and bought it. my main issues with blizzard now has been the lack of LAN because it's all I did with diablo2 and having to buy several copies of the game just to play it with friends outside of the country for WoW.
The way Warcraft III is setup is perfect, LAN + able to play with ppl outside country.
Why not go from there?

At least we can connect to the US server now. Still stupid that cross-game chat doesn't work because all Australian WoW accounts are considered US accounts when my Starcraft is SEA so I can't talk to my real ID friends unless I'm playing on the US Starcraft Server.

If they (Activision) starts screwing with World of Warcraft(Adds, Servers, etc.), I will be pretty Nerdragin'. I love Starcraft, SC-Broodwar, and SC2, and I've been playing WoW since Vanilla (currently playing Cataclysm.) I agree with Husky that Activision is basically a quantity over quality kind of group, and I hope to god that they don't put adds in SC2 or WoW, because it gets SO annoying. When I watch Husky's broadcasts, or a NERD ALERT video, I DO NOT want to buy a Shamwow, for god's sake.

people, the only way to do this is to go into a different map and try to pull people out of it before it starts, and half the time it fills up to fast and the map auto starts, and then ontop of this the people that joined to play that specific map are like no i dont want to leave to play a map ive never heard of. Playing the same old maps is boring as hell!!!!
