I went through my preteen/teenage years with Melee. I played it with my stepbrother and stepsister almost every weekend. I have a lot of great memories of it, as well as the original SSB.

That being said, I like Brawl more. Melee is very fast; even reviewers thought so in 2001. Also, it's much less responsive than Brawl. I still love the game, but I think Brawl was an exceptional update.

Also, the "if it weren't for Melee, Brawl wouldn't exist" excuse is stupid even by Youtube standards.

@R2BDSi I wouldn't like to play the next Nintendo console, I think they have gone way too far of what they originally were. I'll stick to the classics, as they'll never change in time, but they will still be changing our moments giving us always a new way of having fun, thing which I consider was lost after the "genereational jump" between Gamecube to Wii. It was such a big change that some older players preferred to stop playing.

I just prefer Melee over Brawl, it's nice that Brawl is more modern and all, but I prefer my old, melancholic memories from the past. I really loved playing this game and I still love playing it.

@PaigeyDragoness Yeah, the 2000s in gaming were the best. Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Sonic the Hedgehog, Ratchet & Clank, God of War, Metal Gear Solid and of course, this. The 2000s had a multitude of epic games since the beginning, in the middle and was best at the end ('08 had Brawl, Crash Mind Over Mutant, Metal Gear Solid 4, Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon and Sonic Unleashed). The 2010s have some great games like Darksiders, but they're not as filled with epic games as of now.

@ernasmulders there's an easier way! How to get mewtwo part 1:

To get Mewtwo easily, go into Custom Rules Melee and change "Stock" to "3" and "Item Stock" to "None", and "Stock Time Limit" to "Off". Choose two of your best characters (for fighting Mewtwo) Pick the pokemon stadium stage and place both characters on top of the giant pokeball symbol in the middle if the stage.

then unplug your 2 controllers and leave the gamecube on for over 10 hours over night. After plug in your 2 controllers again and kill one of of your fighters that you dont want to fight with mewtwo by, making the player 2 fall off the cliff. (dont kill player 2 with player 1 or you will have to start all over again.) then you will encounter mewtwo fight him then you have unlocked him. hope it helps! :)
