@nts4906 Well it's not like it was back in the 60's and 70's when you could just apply and get the job the same day. The process takes anywhere from six months to a year. These days applicants are required to have a Bachelors degree, minimum; among other requirements. Applicants need to pass aptitude tests, psychological tests, oral boards. All of which require an intelligence equal to any profession. To be an effective officer one needs skills in interviewing/investigating....­.

@nts4906 .....and being able to detect lies through body language and subtle clues. Officers have problem solving skills that most of the time are needed on scene for quick decisions. Furthermore, how can you or anybody judge such a subjective trait like intelligence? Officers have to have a variety of skills and knowledge to do their jobs. It's alot more than just reading a book an memorizing things. It's a volatile job that requires adaptation, flexibility, and practical intelligence.
