@digitalman161 It doesn't. Clever coding does, aka NUFLI! ;-) I made this statement as a reference to previous attempts to show video on the c64, which were always 160x200 and 4 colors only, like e.g. Singular's "Rush" from Breakpoint 2008... /dk

That demo is amazing. I dont even know till this time that is a gfx expand for C64:) And that Linus zak - freakin:) All Crest - quality like always.

@ArcheeP It's not a gfx expander -- that's the point.

The REU only provides RAM and a blitter that is fast enough to copy the images to normal system memory. If Crest had stopped there, it'd have been boring (just like "Rush" by Singular Crew last year was ranked high for the soundtrack and overall design, not technical excellence).

The really amazing thing about this demo is that they managed to copy around the data and keep the tight timings for the FLI display.

@GlideLine For this particular demo, both tunes were done for 8580 and they will not sound properly on 6581.

It's not about a personal preference of which chip 8580 or 6581 is better :D
