By the way while Agassi had a very good head to head with Becker until long after Becker retired Agassi wasnt even anywhere near the same league as Becker in career greatness. Becker retired with 6 slams including 3 Wimbledons, and Agassi did not win his 4th until 1999 (Becker retired from tennis in 1997). So on what planet should Becker who was far more accomplished a player than Agassi during his entire playing career kiss Agassi's ass.
And while Agassi has a better career than Becker overall probably it isnt as clear cut as you seem to think. Becker won Wimbledon, the worst most prestigious tournaments, 3 times and was in 7 finals. Agassi is nowhere near that. The slam win difference is only 2. Becker did the Wimbledon-U.S Open double in the same year, the two biggest events, Agassi never did that. Becker won many more ATP World Championship titles too. And in Beckers best year ever he wasnt 1-4 vs his main rival.
Neither one gave Agassi the respect he deserved, so screw 'em both. Agassi was better than both. He won all of the big four. Neither of these wanna-bes did. Plus when Agassi was age 29, his record in four consecutive grand slam events was 27-1, starting with the French of 1999. Let's see Becker or Chang equal that!! And that's when Pete was strong.
@DexterHaven49 give me a freaking break. Chang never disrespected Agassi, it was Agassi always needlessly dissing and insulting Chang. Just read his book and the disgusting zings he sent Changs way. He even had the nerve to call Chang a Davis Cup cop out at a time he used the cheesiest of excuses to sit out of ties and even demanded his full entourage and special treatment to play. Agassi is the better player but Chang by far the classier one. As for Becker they are equally guilty, end of.
@grafgirl27 No, I read his book. You obviously did not. Agassi's "zings" as you call it were reactions to Chang's disrespect, silly. In your crazy world if someone fights off a mugger, he's guilty of assault. You need to get cause and effect straight. You have it reversed. Chang points to God as if he's the chosen one when he wins. What a grandiose delusion! As if god wanted Agassi to lose. Shame on Chang for putting on divine airs. Chang was an ego case. The little turd.
@DexterHaven49 No I most definitely read the book, in all its glory of profanity, insults, and disrespect for all his peers (including Sampras), and it wasnt tainted for me by the rose colored glasses it obviously was for you. I am not a big fan of Chang's god signals but his religious beliefs are his choice and it is dumb for others to think they have the right to be offended. Chang has never done anything towards Agassi, Agassi took it upon himself to hate on Chang for no good reason.
Even Becker said that he had surprised himself that he had another major in him, when he beat Chang in the final. (His last major before that was from '91) Boris was phenomenal, his dives, his serve...., miss him so much.
In the early to mid-1990's irritating tennis commentary I heard in Australia [maybe it was Fred Stolle] foretold that Micheal Chang would never win another major [in his considered opinion, etc]. If not for that detested kraut Boris Becker in the 1996 Australian Open final, then that forecast would have been blown to smithereens. Tennis outcomes - I definately don't like most of them.
detested Kraut? Becker's was a brilliant, entertaing player and a real personality. Hoping for your sake that you're on the wind-up. If not, then I think we need to get the men in white coats around to your place ASAP
You'd be that part of that sickening ilk of humanity that warms to the kraut contribution if its a contribution essential to the Anglo Imperial or American Hollywood culture - or if Sovietism wouldn't have survived without a given kraut element - you know, that sort of thing. And,if I may, without kicking the Nazi can whatsoever; - then "the men in white coats" is your subconscious take from the Nazi hand-book - and for someone so anti-Nazi as yourself !. As if that doesn't say it all.
Ok Dicky , with your last nonsensical comment, you have confirmed that you are not on the wind-up and are sadly a few sheep short in the top paddock. Therefore, i'll request that the men in white coats head around to your place now. Don't resist them- they're there to help you.
Totally agree with you. The best talent, best tactician and mentally the toughest player ever. If tennis was his top most priority throught his career he would have easily won a few more grand slams. When he was in top form I don't think anyone could beat him....I am sure even Sampras will agree with this :-)
I was crazy about becker.. but pls.... altho i always wished he would beat sampras.. the fact is that samp at his best... was too much for becker to handle and tahts a fact... so pls
you are so right. From time to time he played several levels above the others: Against Edberg in Stockholm 1990 or Davis Cup 1989 against Sweden. Paris Bercy 1992, having to win to qualify for Masters, and mooving on to win masters. And - in these days seeing Federer true face: He was maybee the greatest sportsman in defeat. Allways fair and humble having lost a big match, Wimb 1991 or masters 1996
Chang's speed is jaw dropping; could definitely give Nadal and Djokovic a run for their money in his prime in terms of speed.

@greeneggs1111 You've got it the wrong way around. Chang was like lightning.

Becker beat Chang most of the times they played because Becker just had too much firepower. But still Chang tried hard in all of those matches.

Detested Kraut... Which world do you come from? I'm pretty sure people at Wimbledon adored him as did most tennis lovers. Get a life.

Becker was almost a complete player, but he physis was weak, he cant run.
and Becker always said, that Sampras is the greatest of his time and Federer of today. I was too Becker-crazy, he made me go into tennis.

In that year tax fraud investigation was after him, that destroyed him completely. there were for nearly 2 years men in front of his house or loft.
