I hate clothes. In the USA it is not generally acceptable to be nude. I have been many places in the world where it was though, and while nude there really felt free and open. I love hiking nude.

Most people who actually believe/support the corporate laws are either parasites for it, or shamefully ignorant. Conformist drones they've become, & the flawed moral elite always bring the protect children argument (kids have zero say in law, if a kid was to say I don't have a problem with NUDITY those shit heads would immediately dismiss the voice anyway.)
A woman who gets naked in public is probably considered as more acceptable than a man who does so.
Luckily, here in Germany, most people are pretty relaxed about that topic. The lake in the park of my city has two seperate beaches: a regular beach and a nude beach. And usually, there are two or three times as many people at the nude beach than at the regular one.
there is nothing wrong with being naked. people often use their children to cover up their own bias, the smaller the child the less it will even care. they are not harmed by nudity but by the bigotry and repression of the society they live in. who does not feel liberated while dancing and singing naked in his own home? why not feel the same all day(if it's warm enough of course)?

I think I agree with Ms. Baduh here: you die. People don't understand not having those barriers in place, and see someone without them as prey. Both these factor cause people to attack you in order for them to feel more dominant.
I think there was some editing involved about people calling out, but I think some of the "random people" were plants and the others were just respectful about the camera....or there was a security team behind the camera as well.
As far as I'm concerned people can walk around naked in town for all I care. Doesn't faze me a bit. Free expression and all that, or just fashion choice...or lack of fashion or whatever
The thing is alot of girls/women like to show off their breasts, bums nowadays, but thats only because of the sexualization in the media. I feel that there is a fine line between art and porn. The real problem is in the perception of the act/image and what people do with it afterwards. There is also the matter of how the artist wished it to be percieved, and how much thought they put behind portraying the idea. Some art can be porn, some porn can be art.

When I was a child I was raised to know that being naked is natural and have seen a lot of my friends and family naked my mom had a hard time getting me to put clothes on most of the time so being naked doesn't bother me and if I had a kid I don't think it would bother them cause I would raise to know that it's ok.
Difficult answer this. I suppose it depends on how parents treat their children right from the beginning. They all have internet access these days and I am shocked how easy it is for them to get in to sites. I would not mind betting child protection on computers does not work anyway but I would not know.

as a strait guy, I'm all for women getting nakid for any reason really, artistic or otherwise but I think we all should be comfortable in our bodys. I also think people are too uptight about nudity. Think about this, in europe and Japan (possibly other asian countries going with what I know) there is alot of nudity in every day TV and movies etc. (by US standards) and they are far more comfortable with nudity than people in the US because they dont see it as pornagraphic.
Once you add an aire of taboo to something you automatically increase peoples desire for something. Making booze illegal didnt make people stop drinking. Get my point? I think people overreact to nudity and sex in general...ESPECIALLY here in the US. We are all born naked and sex is a part of recreation. I don't get why everyone is so hush hush about. You need to think more. It's not the nudity that affects children, it's the context. It's seeing sexual power play between people, the stripper both having power and attention through her nudity, it's seeing the "stripping" process that makes the nudity seem forbidden and makes nudity a statement. Kids don't need to think about nudity like that, and it's completely different to seeing their parents naked.
People get naked in art classes. There are designated public places like beaches, parks, maybe even some place in the cities for nudists, but beyond that I think there should be rules and regulations, like not doing it near schools, daycare centers, etc.
But overall I don't see an overwhelming problem. There are nudity in paintings and sculptures in museums and fairs. Society should allow "real life" examples as well, because it's also a form of, and arguably "harmless" expression.

I recently watched the show Taboo that discussed the topic of death in different cultures. They said that death is considered more taboo in the cultures which try to hide it. Like here in America cremation is not something we would watch, but in India bodies of loved ones are burned out in the open. I would think that the same could be said for the human form. The only thing making the human body taboo is humans.

Some time ago I remember seeing a news article about a group of animal rights activists protesting fur in the nude. I recall having argued with my friends about it. My opinion is that you should have the freedom to express yourself in this way, but you should need certain documentation. I never watched the video and I probably won't, not being a fan of Badu. I grew up in a fairly free home I guess. I don't have any hang ups about nudity. I teach my daughter the same. I'm not saying we should all walk around naked, but I do think that if just seeing a naked body makes you uncomfortable, but watching a horror movie is no problem, you've got issues. Well, considering the fact that the original video was deleted, I can't say for sure what I think about it. As far as people stripping naked in public, no one should be forced to look at your privates. I'm sure no one in the area where she did this woke up that morning saying, "I'm gonna see some titties!!!! So while it may have been intended to be artistic, it is quite possible that support of what she did could have later repercussions of the bad nature.

If so, it's probably natural as your parents (as well as ~99% of other parents) might have been conservative regarding the 'purity' of your body, and that it's a 'sacred thing'. I'm a photographer. It is obvious to me that there are difference between obscenities and porn and nudity and art. What Erykah did was make an artistic statement. It is actually "legal" to go nude in Dallas. She was fined for disturbing the peace though. I'm in agreement with that. It might have been nice if she gave people some sort of warning, but then they might have protested her.

Difficult answer this. I suppose it depends on how parents treat their children right from the beginning. They all have internet access these days and I am shocked how easy it is for them to get in to sites. I would not mind betting child protection on computers does not work anyway but I would not know.

as a strait guy, I'm all for women getting nakid for any reason really, artistic or otherwise but I think we all should be comfortable in our bodys. I also think people are too uptight about nudity. Think about this, in europe and Japan (possibly other asian countries going with what I know) there is alot of nudity in every day TV and movies etc. (by US standards) and they are far more comfortable with nudity than people in the US because they dont see it as pornagraphic.

Well if you listen to the songs on the radio, or watch any media at all, you can plainly see that we glorify sex so much that if we are trying to keep it from our children we are failing miserably. I feel overall it is our lack of openness and honesty that is killing the country.. Not just with parents to children, but with government to citizens, companies to consumers, and everywhere else. Being open and honest would be a step in the right direction

Honestly, I think the idea that we HAVE to wear clothes is simply absurd. Now, I for one don't think I would be quick to walk around naked as I have my bashfullness to thank for that, however I see absolutely no reason with why we should stop someone who wants to do it from doing it. Many will say it's to protect the children, but what are we protecting them from? Is the human figure so vial and disgusting that we need to protect people from it?

Here's how I see it. 70% of the US is fat, and 90% is really ugly. About 10% are so ugly that if you saw them naked you may puke. We had a guy who revealed his privates to little kids in my area. Laws this old have lasted for a really good reason.

I think people overreact to nudity and sex in general...ESPECIALLY here in the US. We are all born naked and sex is a part of recreation. I don't get why everyone is so hush hush about. People are covering childrens eyes..but kids around the ages of 3-6 are discovering their bodies and others anyway. We all go through the curious factor of our bodies.

Nudity is natural, sex is natural put them together for a good time, lol. Children will look at something we the feeling we portray. Raising our kids with with a separation between sex and nudity creates far more problems the it fixes. What would be the reason for this, well think about it. do you see people who are completely cool with this, but do you yourself feel weird about having or seeing sex with other around. the church actually started this as a means to control the size of population

You need to think more. It's not the nudity that affects children, it's the context. It's seeing sexual power play between people, the stripper both having power and attention through her nudity, it's seeing the "stripping" process that makes the nudity seem forbidden and makes nudity a statement. Kids don't need to think about nudity like that, and it's completely different to seeing their parents naked.

People get naked in art classes. There are designated public places like beaches, parks, maybe even some place in the cities for nudists, but beyond that I think there should be rules and regulations, like not doing it near schools, daycare centers, etc.
But overall I don't see an overwhelming problem. There are nudity in paintings and sculptures in museums and fairs. Society should allow "real life" examples as well, because it's also a form of, and arguably "harmless" expression.

I think they should. Growing up I saw my parents naked on occasion as well. It didn't weird me out or anything at all. I never understood the fuss people make about nudity actually :s.

I recently watched the show Taboo that discussed the topic of death in different cultures. They said that death is considered more taboo in the cultures which try to hide it. Like here in America cremation is not something we would watch, but in India bodies of loved ones are burned out in the open. I would think that the same could be said for the human form. The only thing making the human body taboo is humans.

Here in the USA we have the hypermoral Puritans in our history, and that's still a big strain in our culture. It would be hard for people here to walk around naked, and if they were girls they might be in danger. It'll take more generations of change in attitudes before Americans can be relaxed about nudity.
And then, of course, people with really ugly bodies should probably keep their clothes on at all times except in the privacy of their homes!

Of course people should be comfortable with their bodies and if you wanna be naked then by all means be naked. However, you have to have some respect for other people and their reactions. Some time ago I remember seeing a news article about a group of animal rights activists protesting fur in the nude. I recall having argued with my friends about it. My opinion is that you should have the freedom to express yourself in this way, but you should need certain documentation. Like a permit, and a month notice to warn people not to bring their little children. By the way, you have an adorable voice.

I think people should be comfortable with and in their bodies, yes, but there should definitely be lines we shouldn't cross simply to keep people in line. People push buttons and cross lines and that's when crimes happen.
As for artistic nudity, she needs to do more than just stand/walk while nude. Well - depends on how she's standing.

I honestly don't understand why we Americans are so... afraid of nudity. What are you going to see? Honestly? We all have breasts, women's are just larger. Genitals... oh genitals, everyone has them, half the world has one set, half the world has another, yet it's so taboo! I never watched the video and I probably won't, not being a fan of Badu. I grew up in a fairly free home I guess. I don't have any hang ups about nudity. I teach my daughter the same. I'm not saying we should all walk around naked, but I do think that if just seeing a naked body makes you uncomfortable, but watching a horror movie is no problem, you've got issues. Our values are way fucked up when violence is nothing, but seeing a little flesh turns us into puritans.

In Canada women are able to walk down the street topless. The laws are the same for men and women. No genitals, that's it. Personally, I'm around naked people all the time. Whether at the beach or at home. When people act immaturely around nude people, it says more about their upbringing then anything else.

Even though Erykah was making a beautiful statement, she's probably more rational than committing a social taboo, even if it's not unethical in itself. In all likelihood, she probably wore nude-colored nipple sleeves or something along those lines, but the morality and actuality of the 'nudity' are irrelevant--the critical thinking this video's audience seems devoid of is what is so horribly daunting.

Well, considering the fact that the original video was deleted, I can't say for sure what I think about it. As far as people stripping naked in public, no one should be forced to look at your privates. I'm sure no one in the area where she did this woke up that morning saying, "I'm gonna see some titties!!!! So while it may have been intended to be artistic, it is quite possible that support of what she did could have later repercussions of the bad nature.

If so, it's probably natural as your parents (as well as ~99% of other parents) might have been conservative regarding the 'purity' of your body, and that it's a 'sacred thing'. I'm not trying to offend because I come from a similar background, I just think it's interesting that humans feel this need to wear clothes out of insecurities. Never seen an animal unhappy it was naked.

I think the human body is interesting and the way it has been represented through art and sculptures tells us a lot about the people who made such pieces. I guess all I was trying to say is that if someone doesn't want to see my nakedness, I shouldn't impose it upon them by suddenly stripping down in their presence. That's all I meant... :)

I'm a photographer. It is obvious to me that there are difference between obscenities and porn and nudity and art. What Erykah did was make an artistic statement. It is actually "legal" to go nude in Dallas. She was fined for disturbing the peace though. I'm in agreement with that. It might have been nice if she gave people some sort of warning, but then they might have protested her.
