  • Fantastic WHO, so many years in the road...

  • HOT.........THIS IS FUCKING GOLD......GOD BLESS YA KIETH ....YOU ARE MISSED....THX TO THE DRUMMER WHO WAS LUCKY TO PLAY WITH LEGENDS :)

  • My mate took me to see them on this tour in 2000, they made every other band I'd ever seen before or since look like a fuckin club turn!

  • 3 dislikes? Seriously

  • Only if Keith was on drums :/

  • Love Pete's improve. Coolest band of all time this.

  • i dont understand why people feel the need to compare bands to each other. the who and cream are both legendary!!! now stfu and enjoy the music. btw im amazed at how rogers voice managed to last for so many decades. he sounds great here

  • @bigmatt9494 believe me when i say he sounds WAY better now after the operation than on the las Who tours!!! I couldn't belive it!

  • SORRY PETER THE KIDS ARE NOT ALRIGHT>AND YOU SICKOS SHOULD ALSO TUNE IN TO GARY GLITTER ,BEHIND THE MUSIC IS EVIL

  • why do you people como here talking about eric clapton.... eric is great, I admire him , but this is a who video, so if you prefer listening to eric go and look for another video. !!

  • You know . . . :)

  • AMAZING!

  • I hate two things about John:

1_ He just stands there in a corner and make it look like playing the bass like him is so easy...sadly it's not.

    2_ He died.

  • Best bassist ever :) haha and good to still know Pete is good... haha and why is it that Roger never seems to look older? xD

  • THE WHO --- simply the best live rock band ever !!!!! Then and now, and don't give me any crap about the stones, they haven't been able to really play for years and years.

  • You could have an endless debate (preferably over a beer in a pub) about the best live band ever but to para-phrase Brian Clough...The Who would be in the top one.

  • Yeah, interesting about Roger playing a guitar again. It took me a long time to get used to also seeing Jon Anderson with a guitar.

  • good thing we're all kids

  • That last bit when Pete sings his forever changing story is just so sweet, realy majic. Up there with the best performances of this song I reckon, such fucken great musicians, and as we've found out Zac Starky is rumbling those dums out nicely, Moom the loon would be singing beach boys songs after hearing him play this.

  • I love the improve Pete does 3/4 the way through. This has always been a beautiful and underated song of the Rock era, and he gives it a depth and kind of drags it into the "adult" experience. Even Roger seems touched by Pete's new focus on "set them free" - Townshend has a reputation amongst his friends ( and ex-wife and his own children) as a very caring father irregardless of the horrible things that have been said about him.

  • @roberhau Agreed, great points!

  • Epic!!!! This LIVE version eclipses the recorded song in so many ways, love it

  • Was there but this never bores me its fucking beautiful

  • Cream are a great band with some awesome songs, but when pure energy and power of performance comes into play, in my eyes, no other band except maybe early Pearl Jam can compete.

  • The Who vs. Cream. Well the Who come straight at you with as much emotion as they can pack into a song. Cream didn't. 'Nuff said.

  • @lebarosky Cream had more emotion in one song than the Who had during an entire concert. Cream were musicians. The Who were just players. Good, but not the best.

  • @proferic Show me!!!!

  • @bogdanmil All you have to do is open your eyes.

  • @proferic send me a single link of some video demonstrating a cream live performane that can compete with the Who.

  • @bogdanmil Are you kidding? Anything from Live Cream or Live Cream Vol. 2 cannot only compete with, but can blow away anyting by the Who.

  • @proferic Still nor video. The guitar on live is as good if not better than townshend but their drummer sounds like ringo or charlie watts, plain and ordinary. The bass is really good but where near as imaginitive as The Ox!!!AndI stil need to se video of cream to make a proper comparison.!

  • @bogdanmil I'm not going to do your work for you. Cream videos are all over the net. You can download them yourself. As good if not better that Townsend?? Do you even know who Eric Clapton is?? The guy not not only wrote the book on rock guitar, he invented the language that went into the book. Townsend himself bows down to Clapton. Moon can't compare with Ginger Baker. I don't think you really know much aside from worshipping the Who.

  • @proferic Of course I know who clapton is and yes he is a more technically proficient guitar player than Townshend but he never had the stage presence that Townshend has. I disagree about moon .

  • @bogdanmil Townshend is also a much better and more versatile songwriter and a more innovative and interesting musician than Clapton.

  • @proferic Clapton is an overrated old fart wheedling boring old blues licks heard a thousand times before. Listen to Son House and tell me Clapton Knows anything about the blues. He knows nothing and so do you!

  • @proferic

"Cream videos are all over the net. "

Then what are you doing here? This is The Who playing songs, i.e. structured pieces of music. NOT loose, regurgitated blues wanking.

Go watch some sped-up pentatonic exercises pumped through a wah-wah pedal if that's what turns you on. You're right, when it comes to ripping off John Lee Hooker, Eric Clapton is the best white guy in the business. Pete can't touch his junkie friend when it comes to thieving from the old blues masters.

  • great OAX Entwistle

  • I love these guys. I think this is one of their finest albums, especially disc 1 :)

  • Zak Starr the drummer on this video was taught by Keith Moon when he was younger and Keith Moon was still alive

  • @nhmf1 Good thing Keith Moon was alive when he taught him drums because if he was dead he probably wouldn't have instructed Zak very well.

    (sorry dude, I couldn't resist)

  • I'm one of your millions who after 35 plus years as a fan...will always agree. 15-50 years old as a fanatic fan goes go by fast!

  • Geeze! Off the charts!

  • great version..best i ever heard...still a creative force...from the heart...with honorable intentions...you can feel it...thanks who!!!

  • the ox is not a bass player, he's a "bass guitarist"!!

  • @TheTzdope He is a bass innovator! Pure genius....just like the rest of the band!! RIP Rock in Peace Keith and John.......

  • John Entwistle, VOTED BASSIST OF THE MILLENIUM, The Who greatest live band.

  • Can someone post Anyway, Anyhow from this show? Thanks.

  • they do a great baba on the 2000 show with nigel kennedy lending support on the violin!! you can catch it on "you tube"

  • Roger sounds fantastic here.

  • Help!!

which performance is better on DVD, 2000 or 2002 at Royal Albert?

  • @SuperWhofan1 get both ;)

  • they look relatively youthful here, compared to their Super Bowl performance

  • ffuck shut up ,bruce and entwistle Boths are greats! they are greats bass players and they are in greats bands so stop fight for who is better ... ok?

  • ''set them free'' is awsom.

  • Jack Bruce was better, end of story.

  • Hey is that Ringo Starr's son drumminge :O ?

  • Yes. Zak Starkey.

  • Proferic, maybe come up with an argument instead of trying to Scream the loudest?

And...you studied for nothing, music isnt about who's technical the best!

The reason people make and listen to music is because of the emotion that comes with it. If a song doesnt hits you its crap!

  • good tune...ever see clapton and townshend together? Bros.

o god, not another 'who's better' argument with insults and ego in play. Stop it, children. ArJen, don't let the bastards get you down! It's about the love that moves the technique and talent, and some people don't got enough soul to know...you know...one love one light, let's get together and feel all right...

  • Cream only lasted 2 years....and they were handpicked...all stars...who started a band...the Who were 4 kids from London who created something great from scratch

  • Whoa! -- 5:19

With what Daltrey's voice has been through over the decades he had NO business being able to sing that delicately and in that register.

Nice how Townshend acknowledges it in the moment. Those two have sure been through a lot together.

And that was live, kids. No lip synching, click track crap for these lads.

  • Nobody compares to the Who. Greatest fucking band of all time!! Pete is a musical genius!!

  • Unbelievable how good they still sound after 40 + years after song first recorded. Unbelievable how well Roger can sing, and his range. Greaest group ever!

  • i was at this concert .. last ever before the death of entwistle .

  • Wrong, they played his last show in Feb. of 2002. This was filmed November of 2000.

  • i stand corrected . i thought this was the 2002 gig

  • indeed, that was filmed in 2000.

  • si es con los muchachos esta bien en monterrey the who es laryiata

  • amazing!cream was nothing compared to them

  • R.I.P. John Entwhistle

  • sounds great like the added bit pete does it again great to see this on u tube

  • hairs go up no my neck enough said!

  • Now i do get a bit depressed when i think that John and Keith have passed away, nothing lasts forever i suppose

  • For everyone who thinks that the Who are garbage just because they are old and lost there genius and that they don't age well, watch from 4:17 to the end of the video and tell me what you think now.

  • why just from 4:17 watch the whole ting!!!! :P

  • This is the best band that ever lived, One of the best singers, badass bassist, crazy drummer, and the fucking greatest guitarist on the entire planet

  • Almost as good as the Cream. But not quite!

  • Almost as good? How about 100% better in everyway possible.

  • How about, not at all!!!

  • The Who blows Cream and Clapton to oblivion! The Who have better songs, more hits, WAY better live, the greatest, and have way better lyrics. Half of the music Pete writes is eiter geneous or incredibly motivational. Im sure you don't know much about music if you say Cream is better.

  • Having been a bassplayer and musician for over 30 years, i think I'm a pretty good judge of music, and at the very least, as knowleagable as you (which doesn't appear to take much). And yes, Cream blows the Who out of the water. Better singer, bassplayer, guitarplayer (even Townsend says so), and better drummer. Hand down, Cream is better.

  • John is the best bassist, and what makes you king shit, I could say Iv'e been a guitar player for 30years and I would have as much knowledge as you SAY you have, Roger is way better singer, and don't you even say Cream had a better drummer, and of course Cream has a better guitar player, because Clapton is prob. the best ever, but Pete is still incredable. The reason I say Clapton gets blown away is because he kinda is the band all by himself, because the other two aren't even rememerable

  • The other two (Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce) are better on their instruments then Clapton is on guitar. Bruce could have mopped the floor with Entwistle and Baker was regarded as the best drummer of the British invasion. Case closed.

  • Best drummer of the British invasion! Ha! Keith Moon is regarded the Best Drummer ever, and every single bassist ever has prob. been influenced by Entwistle! Don't worry, because everyone who looks at this page and sees how much of a dumbass you are, and way more people agree with me it will shut you up! Cream wasn't together long, and when Clapton was going to kill himself, who saved his life? Pete Townsend! Baker and Bruce aren't considered the best at anything when all The Who members are.

  • Usually when people resort to personal attacks, they know their arguments hold absolutely no merit. Thank you for proving my point. If you think that "Baker and Bruce aren't considered the best at anything" then you have no idea what you are talking about, literally!

  • For the short time Cream was together, they were a great band, but The Who along with the Stones, The Beatles, and Zepplin are Legends. You can't compare a great rockband to a legend. If Cream had stayed together in time they could of produced more great albums and become legends them selfs. Clapton went on his own and is a legend in his own right. What the Who have accomplished stands on its own and if that doesn't hold any merit then I guess your right.

  • music is music....

Another thing out of this is only shit... shit!

  • What planet are you from. Cream is right up in the same class as the bands you mentioned. Cream was the first super group. Maybe you ought to do a little reading on the internet.

  • Iv'e had a week to think on this, but here it goes, Hm hm, cough. If you think that the Who have no Merit, you can put some "Cream" on your Bass guitar you've been playing so long, and shove it up your ass.

  • You stewed over this for a week?? Dude, it's not worth it. I never said The Who had no merit! I just said I liked Cream better.

  • You are officially the man (or women). Long live The Who!

  • What a tool!

  • Comment removed

  • bull

  • whats bull?

  • that creams better

  • Yeah, Who is better, by a large amount

  • ohh i thought you meant cream was better sorry lol :)

  • Yeah, I had a big arguement with some guy about it, you can read it on the next page.

  • Cream was better! Better singer, better basssplayer, better drummer.

  • You must be out of your mind!! The Ox is the greatest bassist of all time. Moonie is the greatest drummer of all time. And Daltrey...one of the greatest rock singers. Townshend is the Mozart of our time.

  • These guys were great, but not as good as the Cream, either individually or as a group. And McCartney is closer to being a modern Mozart than Pete.

  • Here we go again, Cream is not as good as the who, they were good, but can't compete with the best. 2 years vs, what, 40 years of music? They had 2 fucking hits, and good selling records, all fucking four of them. Yeah, The Who's several multi platinum records can't compare to that. Entwistle is the better bassist, I prefer Rogers vocals over Claptons any day, and Pete can sure write a hell of a lot better music then any member of Cream. Go post on some Cream videos and get the fuck out of here.

  • I post here to educate the ignorant. Those on the Cream posts already know the truth. # of hits don't matter. Entwistle is commonly recognized as second only to Jack Bruce, followed by Tim bogert of the Vanilla Fudge. Roger is a better vocalist than Clapton, i agree. But not as good as Bruce.

  • Just because people who watch this like the who better then cream, which most people do, doesn't make them ignorant, it just makes them differen't then you. A stubborn guy who can't admit what is true. You might think you are a "musical educator" but even the experts, and the Rolling stones official magazine agree. Sunshine of your love and whiteroom is all cream is. Roger=best rock vocalist live and just best PERIOD. Lets see bruce sing Wont get fooled again.

  • Rolling Stone is not the Rolling Stones magazinw, airhead. And no, it has never said that the Who is better than Cream. Neither have the "experts".

  • Yes, Who is ranked higher then cream for best band ever, and music channels have who as #3 best, and never write to me again, because I am sick of hearing all your bullshit. You ignorant Cream fanatic, you unknowledgable fuck, I don't care what else you have for me, but I prob. won't respond. The Who is better, end of story, stfu

  • You won't respond?? Gee, how could we all get so lucky. You base your musical knowledge on Rolling Stone and then tell me I'm ignorant. What a moron.

  • You are delusional.

  • Moon is the only drummer as far as I know who plays a melody with a non-melodious instrument.

Pete's clearly the best rhythm guitarist ever (has been measured, the hits are at 0,001sec precies). And a genius songwriter.

John holded the band together by filling the holes in the music and he plays a lot of the solo's and vocals of course. But his play isnt as complex as Bruces.

Roger is how a real Idol should be.Early years: great singin'; later on:Empathize on the lyrics and becoming Tommy!!!

  • At last, a discussion about 2 of the greatest bands ever. But after I red every "agument" I know now more than ever that you cant compear The Who and Cream. The Who has better songs more emotion and a lot more energy. But Cream didnt need great songs, just something to improvise on. Clapton is the best 'normal' guitarist and Bruce and Ginger were technical perfect. Toad by Ginger is incredible, 4 rhythms at once.

  • Nobody is better than the Ox. That's my opinion as well as millions and millions of others. You like Bruce. Good for you. Join his fan club.

  • Nobody cares whether you've "studied" the playing of both. I can actually PLAY like both Bruce and Entwistle and Entwistle's stuff is a million times harder to cop from a technical and musical perspective. It's always easy to tell exactly what Jack Bruce was doing.

Great bass player, don't get me wrong folks, Jack Bruce is one of my all-time favorites. I love his work with Cream. But The Ox could have rolled him.

  • I can actually PLAY like both of them as well. And, I can tell YOU, that while both were great, Bruce was better. Bruce's perspective is that of a jazz player, while Entwistle was grounded in a much simpler rock technique. If you think Entwistle was harder to cop, you obviously are missing something.

  • In technical terms you may very well be correct. Moon was never one to follow traditional drum method and Entwistle's main concern was being the driving force of the band on bass. I'm not too familiar with Cream, but from what I understand, Ginger and Jack were accomplished jazz musicians before they got into rock music, so I wouldn't be shocked if they were more technically sophisticated and sound. From the Cream stuff I've heard, I've just got to say that Keith and John just do more for me.

  • U may be a professional musician and a good judge, but there is no way that Clapton or Bruce were better singers than Daltrey. Not even close. Agree w/ u re Clapton being better guitar player. And the # of outstanding songs the Who have made over the yrs speaks volumes.

  • @Drummer14534 You're completely wrong.

  • @proferic

He is definitely right about The Who being the best band on the face of the planet.

  • @atgskater14 Best band on the planet??? Top five perhaps. Top ten, absolutely. But best? Not hardly.

  • @proferic

Well i many people's OPINION they are including mine. I love almost all of the music from this era though.

  • Reevomatic :

    1. "Trust the art, not the artist". If the artist is a murderer, a robber or a cheat, this doesn't mean anything about the art itself. You could know nothing about the artist.

    2. As it happens, Townsend has been cleared on the accusations.

Whether he's innocent or not, The Who were a great band. End of story.

  • WERE a great band, but in retrospect the tunes dont cut it and dont age well either.

The real genius of the who died a long time ago.

  • The "real genius" of The Who was ..Keith Moon?? You mean, more than Townsend?? So The Who could've gone on if Townsend had died but not without Moon, huh?

    Right, OK...

BTW and just FYI ol' Keith LOTS of sex with underage groupies.

Still a great drummer, though... :-)

  • wow dude... shows you don't know too much about the who at all

  • I agree; I've been a fan of The Who for 27 years and got to see them for the first time ever when they did a show in Swansea in '07. Total disappointment, you could tell their days are over.....

  • Couldn't agree more. I saw them at Glastonbury 07 and they were good enough, but not amazing.

And they've found John to be irreplaceable. Pino's a great bass player but he lacks the punch to play with The Who.

  • Ah, I see you have read The Social Contract by Rousseau.

  • the 3 cd live album from this show is so great

  • sick drum solos in this live version

  • All are great musicans - Roger has a verry difficult songpart - just great and beautiful !!!

  • He gives me multiple Whogasms!

  • Isn't that John on bass? When is this from? Seems like the perfect line-up without Keith... Too bad John had to go to. ;\

  • Thats John in this video... I think.

  • It's John. This is about a year before he died.

  • Two years.

  • hey there guys - out of interest, i dont really kno much about the who just that theyve done a few good songs :P

whose the drummer - is it one of their kids of somut cus he's a young'un aint he

  • That's Ringo's kid, Zak Starkey.

  • aaaah right cheers matey ;) x

  • has a hook from Beatles' "All My Loving" but i love it anyway!

  • (second part, 3.10 - 3.45) I shouldn't..., you know I'm alright, and I look at my kids, and they're alright, 'cause there alright, what can be wrong with kids, nothing wrong with my kids, nothing wrong with your kids, set that free... ...Roger: you know...
  • T H A N K Y O U VERY MUCH !!ª!!

  • please give me the lyrics of PETE´S BIT AWESOME BIT

  • Excellent version!!

  • absolutely, mature, splemdid, awesome its goos to be old

  • yep. the first thing to go is the spelling... :)

  • great version of a great song

  • keith... no one can fill that spot..

but these guys can still rock anyhow..

    R.I.P keith

  • (first part, 2.22 - 3.09) when I wrote this song, I was nothing but a kid, trying to work out..., to all the things I did, I was kind of practising, with my life, I was kind of taking chances, and I'm married with my wife, I took some stuff, and I tried some boots, and there was allmost nothing but I did I tried take yours, and somehow I'm alright, I know how I'm alright, ... (first part)
  • This is one of the greatest versions of this song ever. I love the bit by Pete in the middle, of course the kids are alright.

Get the DVD of this show if you haven't already, it's pure quality.

    Cheers for the share.

  • O k ITS INCREDIBLE, THE BEST VERSION EVER
