Seriously? Vlogging while driving in the rain about the motorcycle safety class? Oh, irony, how thou art a cruel mistress! I guess we skipped the standard driving safety course.
@KilamonKLmal You are correct, it is not smart to vlog and drive in the rain but I was sitting in drive thru so there was not any oncoming traffic for that part
Hey, congrats! I've never been on a bike before and am going to take this course as part of my senior project. What do you think I should do to prepare?
@sarahcrayner I thought the class was wonderful and it taught me so much. Then only thing I would suggest is to come prepared for the weather. Proper riding gear or at least something waterproof. Its a rain or shine class. Good Luck and have fun. Its a great start to find out if you even like riding a bike
That "look up" advice can be confusing to some folks & I'm always surprised at how many riders don't actually do it. I prefer to tell people to "look toward the horizon, in the direction you wanna go" & that always seems to help tremendously. The other thing is that people don't usually get tunnel vision that way, because we tend to scan the horizon rather than focus on a single point.
When scanning the horizon, you'll be surprised at what your peripheral vision can detect.
@TheHappyThought The faster you go, the more you often look toward the horizon & once you get into the habit of doing it, you tend to notice when other riders don't.
As with everything else, experience is often the best teacher. Eventually you'll have "the eyes of a rider" & you'll almost always instinctively know what to look for/at :-)
@davidhowellca Thanks for letting me know David. Sometimes I get tired of hearing myself so I don't check this properly. Thats why its great to have friends who do it for you. Have a great day.
You are probably right about driving and holding the camera but just so you don't worrry, most of the footage was in the parking lot and the drive thru. I just wanted to capture my thoughts while they were still fresh. I usually try not to distract myself while driving.... and when I hold the camera with one hand while riding my motorcycle things get really complicated... just kidding...I would never do that. thanks for the concern
@Kodiak31415 Thank you I am totally going to keep practicing my stops. It is way different on my dual sport so I want to get the hang of it. I might just keep my bad habit of down shifing first though.
Wohooo! Congratulations on getting your M endorsement. I missed one question on my written test as well. :) I took the course when I had NO riding experience at all, so it was probably a lot more fun to me than for you because you know most of what is going on. But It's always nice to get a refresher and relearn things you may have forgotten about.
@ToastToGo Wohooo is what the whole class said when our instructor walked over and told us that we had all passed. You should have seen the look of shock on some peoples faces. The class was worth every minute. I learned so much. Thanks for the support.

@KilamonKLmal You are correct, not my smartest move. Most of it was filmed in the drive thru or parking lot but some was on the road.

@boobtubeviewr I am usually quite suprised at what I see and then my hubby will go and spot something I totally missed. So I just keep practicing.

Good for you!
Now, if you could stop holding a camera while driving a truck that would be great...
And that headset doesn't inspire much confidence, neither ;-)

Congrats! Keep practicing those stops, you don't want to fall back into your 'bad' habits!
