@Transcedant No, Nu-Metal by definition was the occurance which started in the early nineties when grunge got simplified and became more aggressive in bands like Korn, deftones, Helmet. Ontop of that they added hiphop drums and other layers to diversify.

Most early nu-metal bands did a two step which was reminiscent of a heavy metal gallop... hence the term nu-METAL.
