Not as good as the balloons, but much better than the circles. Yes, a few of them haven't dated particularly well, but they had consistency, a strong musical theme and a high quality feel that the circles lack.

I hated all this dance idents, I hate the current 'circular' theme idents too. They should get the Red Arrows to create circular smoke trails or get some skydivers to film a new ident. Before you all say thats too expensive, I bet the BBC wasted thousands, probably millions creating these idents in the first place.

Oh my gosh I remember these these are a blast from the best. I hope BBC One brings back all of the BBC1 Dancers idents and also I hope BBC 1 brings back the globe too. My favourite one of the BBC1 dancers where the salsa dancers, the wheelchair dancers, the tango dancers, the tap dancers and the silk dancers but I love them all. Why did BBC1 axe the BBC1 dancers and The BBC1 Globe? I hope BBC1 drops their new look and brings back the BBC1 Dancers and the BBC1 Globe.

@TheLuigifan007 Well, the beeb was actually GLAD to send the balloon stings floating off into the atmosphere. The reason being that at the time, the corporation had been accused of being 'slow, distant and full of hot air', so you can understand why they were quite happy to swiftly update their image and never look back.

The balloon was never sent off into the atmosphere. It was kept at BBC TV Centre until mid-2002 and was then passed to a museum of some sort.

The balloon should have stayed. I am annoyed with Lorraine Heggasey, who axed the balloon. If they were getting rid of the balloon, they could still use the globe in some way.

There were some gems in this selection and some bad ones but in every era of BBC ONE idents there are some good ones

What they should do is collect all the best ones (voted for by the public) edit them to make them look a bit more modern and use them!
