They should bring back the 1990's tv shows and cartoons for YTV and Nick too. Maybe if everybody were to email or write them letters for the 1990's then maybe yes.
They had a very interesting "Happy Holidays" ID one Christmas season. It had the red and yellow globe from a previous ID and it was in a pile of snow while it was snowing. Part of the singing from the fist ID shown here was playing.. there was a peace symbol on top of the globe and it zoomed toward the symbol and a light shone from behind it. There were no words written or spoken. I thought it was a very surreal and still beautiful Happy Holidays message. if anyone has it please show it.
@CoolXer0 And just think, in 15 years, those are are growing up on YTV now are going to look at idents from 2010 and say, "Man, YTV was so great in 2010! What happened?"
Ytv isn't like Nickelodeon. it's more of a family channel type of things with some shows from nick and other really random stuff like America;s funniest video or things like Wolverine and the x-men or teen titans. Which is cartoon network. So its just a general kids channel.
Guess what, guys? I know that Nickelodeon DIDN'T exist in Canada(YTV is supposed to be "similar" to Nickelodeon that we have in the US), but Nickelodeon is supposed to be a station in Canada on November 2, 2009, and is supposed to be having SOME, but not all of Nickelodeon's old programs from the 90's(which I know that YTV used to air in the 90's as well).
The first two IDs rock my world. They are quintessentially "night time." When I was a kid and used to stay up at night and see that ID come on, it used to rock my world. It's so simple and yet the colours they used were so perfect. They set the mood. And the girl's voice in the background totally set the ambiance. This clip is seriously priceless.
I'm with ya there. I have a VHS, taped a show off YTV back in the 1992...it plays the 2nd intro, followed by the "5!...4!....3!..." of the Thunderbirds intro.
the prompt for the new circle logo is from the christmas theme, the green and red circle logo, that is blue today, was used when they had a voice going ho ho ho slowed down and sped up
YTV seemed so much better and far more creative back in the day. Little things like the cool ID's and fillers like the Short Circutz programs they played in between shows really did wonders for the channel. I guess that just goes to show how the times have changed.
I hear ya. Ever since that "Keep it weird" slogan took effect it went way down hill. Early '90s YTV was definitely one of the highlights of growing up in Canada.
I watched YTV for a very long time since i was like, 2 yrs old, and times have changed but it's still the best station in the nation after all those years. fot their anniversary, they aired some old shows they used to have like, rocko's modern life, goosebumbs, hit list and DBZ for a whole week!
Do you know what's strange? I don't know if Shining time Station was on YTV or not because I remember after the credits there was one logo then there was the first logo where the blueI don't know if I might be dreaming or something do you guys remember?
wow its so weird seeing something everyday after school for like 4 years, not seeing it for over almost 2 decades and then stumbling across it on you tube. thanks, this is a great clip. also your icon rocks
haha i agree with you, about how non-kiddie YTV was back then. Now, you might as well be watching tree house.
They used to have some awesome shows. REMEMBER SQUAWK BOX?! That was one of my favourite shows. That, and Bump in the Night, Rugrats, and i also vaguely remember a gameshow where they'd put you in a chamber and pour green goop on you if you didn't answer the question right.
Does anyone remember a show called (correct me on spelling) "Xtreme" or "Extreme" with all the random clips of sports and other stuff with music playing the whole show? And at the end of the show they showed the track list of all the bands that had a song played in the show of that episode? It played early to mid 90s if I can remember correctly. Can anyone remember and help out on tracking this amazing show down?
Also YTV used to have some edginess back then. It used to be that they had some high quality shows on that nobody else was airing at the time. Now they have third rate shows that other networks have cancelled.
you make me teary-eyed.... at the very end of the 1st bumper, they used to clip it (so it's just the blue part falling down) and use it at the end of certain shows...
But yeah, YTV really has turned into garbage. The Zone isn't even that great anymore...and gah I dunno. The shows always try too hard to appease to the audience, they're not funny, and BLAH. Plain garbage.
Holy cow!! I can't believe I remember this (but vaguely). As an aside, I've been looking for proof lately that YTV at one point stood for youth television because YTV has been currently denying this.
They used to stand for Youth Television I remember this question was aired on one of the Zone's Time Slots (can't remember who was the host though) I remember when The Zone was actually worth watching and I'm trying to find a show called Radio Active but can't find anything. I should have taped it back when it still airing.
I miss Old Skool YTV. It takes me back to when I was 15 and I didn't have a care in the world. I wonder what they're going to do for their 20th aniversary next year? Next year it had better be good.
I miss the old YTV. It's just not what it once was.
