The 1st time I fell in love with this song was the 1st time I ever heard it (different version). It was on an ad for a phone book ... the yellow pages, about twenty years ago. I've learned of so many wonderful songs through tv commercials.

Wow ,I had a very religious upbring /penecostal so, I was taught that certain lifestyles were wrong,but I never felt that way ,and I am straight but talent is talent ,if he is gay its ashamed he can't say that, ,people will say ,oh he's great but....... This is probably one of the very few songs that Johnny has sung that wasn't as good as the original artist's version.

The orchestral backing is definitely superior to the original but that is to be expected since having a second shot at the arrangement for a pro becomes a challenge to surpass the original. And one learns from what didn't work and to refine the few glitches. The vocals do not surpass Mel Carter's. Something probably clicked for Carter and his delivery was very engaging. The song is not a great song in my opinion and is very formulaic.

Oh, this is just fantastic and well done by Johnny with a great orchestra backing him. Mel Carter recorded this back in the 1960's I believe. I loved it then and love it now and especially when it's sung by Johnny. Thanks for the upload.

while I do like johnny mathis, this song is mel carter's and his alone the man still sounds good singing the song , after 35 YEARS!!!!! just amazing, one reason I think that mel's voice is still in tact is because he hasn't done "overkill" on his vocal chords over the years and it sounds as though he has taken care of his voice. this is your song Mel and yours alone.

I love this song too. You can't get it anymore. I had it on eight track years ago. I tried to buy it in the early ninties again, in NYC, and the man wanted 45 dollars for the LP. Ouch! I wish they'd put it out again on CD. I remember blasting it so loud over and over in the seventies. Thanks for putting it on here.
