Just reading Wu's book at the moment, excellent and well-written, thinking about it in context of Middle East revolutions and the crackdown of activists in China (according to Amnesty), there a great blog about that on Bold Youth: 'The Information Empire Strikes Back', still not sure how responsible social networks were, though, but I think his predictions are coming true
a 'good' monopoly (in the logically consistent definition of the word) does not exist, because every monopoly is based upon the initiation of force (usually by gvt) against incoming competition. Google is not a monopoly, since it does not use force against new companies.
Unfortunately TimWu does not realize that the government IS private power. They are a company with extras, The extra is that they can take the money of the their tax slaves by force, which is not allowed for companies.
All these and more companies can share the same space but not with the greed and the push to make more and more and maximize profits, etc.
This greed has almost unraveled this country and it's not over. It's only going to get worse. We are way out of balance and I don't see it getting any better.
Everyone, get ready to be some corporations property, we are almost there already.

Greed... nothing but good old fashion greed.
