i do agree with james my comment was just a joke im friends with james and seriously though get off the internet and say it to his face where he can know who you are and beat the crap out of you
First of all the word is "repeatedly," not "repetitively." By the way, is that a word? Also yo need to double check your use of "its" and "it's." The former is a contraction, while the latter is the possesive form of it. I am not surprised to see that the Dunbar Language Arts Department pays no more attention to detail than does its Music Department. I am deeply saddened about your less than optimum education.
I thinks it's all a matter of taste. If you like crap, then you're a PLD fan. If you like classic and absolutely amazing, then you're a LHS fan. Both bands are good at their style, PLD-trash LHS-amazing. Just a matter of taste.
I think it's all a matter of taste. If you like crap, then youre a PLD fan. If you like classy and absolutely amazing, then youre a LHS fan. They're both good bands at their own style. PLD-crap LHS-AMAZING. Just a matter of taste.
Welp i think that you PLD and you Lafayette are 2 of the most extraordinary bands in kentucky. That's all that matter's and you know being evil toward each other proves nothing so let's represent kentucky at grand nats and until one of you'll come back with the gold...from winning grand nats, then you can be as cocky as you want?...how bout that?
Damn straight. Lafayette has been around so long the governor went there, but its still marching shows worthy of a 1986 state competition. As for KMEA, I couldn't have said it better. The PLD band members that I've heard present their case are using irrefutable evidence and the LHS people trying to discount it have absolutely no excuse whatsoever, other than a winning streak 5 years old and an 11th GN placement in 92 they werent at. Look at THIS year, and suck it up.
Take into account the competition at GN in 2004, then consider it this year; it's way different. This year was voted most difficult year for GN in BOA's history. And as for "prelims", PLD scored higher at state than Lafayette, so don't pull that. Lafayette's show was easier and they had it sooner so it was cleaner, PLD's show was written as an original and much more complicated but their performance at state was dirtier. Had Lafayette gone to GN, they would have ranked much lower.
Your band was not better at St. Louis. I don't know what your director was telling you, but take away a piece of cardboard and we scored higher.
And bragging about placing 11th in 1992 is stupid. The competition was incredibly weaker back then. Marching has evolved so much over the last decade it isn't even funny.
Is Lafayette even going to state next year? I heard they aren't. I think it was something about being too poor, because they don't fundraise well and a lot of kids don't even pay the band fee.
But seriously, PLD will be back next year. We had an extremely weak senior class, and we have a top 5 middleschool feeding program (Beaumont Middle went to Midwest in '05)in the country, so PLD is set for the future.
There is a youtube video of Lafatte '93 on here..that is the kick ass Lafayette that won 13 titles in a row...great music... exciting drill..execution...I think Lafayette is an incredible program..I just want to see that kind of show and band that wins..not taking the easy road with a show!!
What the hell? The whole reason PLD band members make fun of Lafayette is because THEY don't march when they play. Did you guys even watch our show?
Also, very classy of some of your band members for driving onto our practice field and making tire marks all over it. Nice.
P.S.-We got 15th in Grand Nationals, something Lafayette's band this year could never achieve. Judges at Grand Nats actually take the difficulty of the show into consideration...
That wasn't very nice. I'm not going to disagree because I think the fact that you all march and play is why I like you so much more. Both shows were great. We played Adagio my 8th grade year for band. I do have a question for both PLD and Lafayette though. Why don't you all go to Bryan Station anymore? I loved battling it out with you guys once a year.
god this brings me back!!! Keep it up Lafayette!!! ----James S.

Lafayette also made finals at BOA GN in 2004. I do believe that is what the person is referring to.

You do realize that Grand Nationals uses the same judging systems as the BOA regionals (St. Louis) where Lafayette beat you.

Lafayette did not beat us at St. Louis, a piece of cardboard did.

Meh...very clean, but incredibly boring. Horrible color guard, easy music. Put the fans that PLD had brought to their feet right back to sleep.
