2008 CIS Secondary Boys High Jump-12, 13 and 14

i turned 12 about 3 months ago, that was when I tried high jump for the first time

I got 1.45m, and I havent beaten that since

you guys are really good :)

You may have to wait until puberty kicks in. Most of the 13 boys I coach only jump 1.40m to 1.45m, They are like you, still waiting for their growth spurt.

Wow! I used 2 b quite good at high jump, but 4 some reason i cant do it anymore!

This is well above average! My boys are only some 10 cms higher. This is with some 5 years of training.

So try and get a high jump coach or just use my videos and a video camera.

@Tolgarian That's fine that you jump 1.55 meters as a twelve year old but don't be a dick and throw in that stupid american comment. A 13 year old at my school jump 6 feet at a meet last year let me dumb it down for you... 6 feet is 1.82 meters.

i jumped 1.50 when i was in Gr 8 so 13 and im 16 now and can only do like 1.30

Quite a few boys seem to lose their natural style they had when they were younger. Proper training helps a lot but is no guarantee. Try and get a video of your jumping and compare yourself with what Hollis Conway suggests !

It is really something to see a person get their whole body up over a bar that is above their own head.

To me, anyone who can high jump is great. It is a great event and can be enjoyed by all at any level of achievement. I coach three 10 year old from one club in south Sydney. They have a great time at training and are very competitive, all jumping 1.40m. This is very unusual. It is a pity I can't coach ALL of their age group, but I am too old. Instead, I show others how to help.. Now I am getting Thibaut interested in the 10 year old group. See how he goes as it is expecting a lot.

Most of the kids don't know how to jump. This is one purpose of these videos.
